‘To All That Cannot Be Undone’ is Karkait’s debut full-length album, which marks a radical transformation for the band following their acclaimed double EP release on Wolves and Vibrancy.
Emerging initially through a volatile fusion of grindcore, black metal and hardcore, the expreimetal trio quickly distinguished themselves by pushing against the structural and emotional limits of extreme music. Yet where their earlier works were marked by ferocious blasts, angst and intensity, ‘To All That Cannot Be Undone’ reveals a band stretching their language into slower, stranger and more expansive territories. It is their most adventurous and uncompromising work to date, a record seamlessly morphing between metal, folk, musique concrète, free improvisation and sonic abstraction, dissolving into one continuous mass of sound and soul pressure.
Over eight years of activity, Karkait have continuously dismantled and reconstructed their own musical vocabulary, refusing to settle into a fixed identity or genre. Across the five songs that compose ‘To All That Cannot Be Undone’, the band expands further into new forms of composition and expression: broken rhythms, fragmented eruptions, collapsing silences, rusted drones, scorched amplifiers, whispered sighs and existential growls. Each song originates from a distinct sonic world, with its own internal logic and emotional drive, yet together they maintain the singular sound Karkait have carved throughout the years, rooted not in stylistic consistency, but with awareness of the musical histories and traditions they continue to reshape.
