Robert & Norman mailorder@bisaufmesser.com www.bisaufsmesser.com www.adagio830-records.bandcamp.com 7“ MAD VOICE - Drogen / Ohne Liebe 7“ (If ever talking about a „ghost“ of an Austrian record, both in terms of getting info about and getting your hands on, the only output of short-lived band „Mad Voice“ would be a prime example of such. It took a couple of years to track original band members and the master tape down, which in the end made for Wiener Brut being able to carry out an exclusive re-release of this 7 inch. Get ready for a perfect blend of minimalistic Pop, Synthwave and NDW!) LP ANA MAZZOTTI - s/t (1977) LP (far out - In 1974 Ana Mazzotti recorded her first album Ninguem Vai Me Segurar(1974), enlisting the in-demand arrangement talents of Azymuth’soriginal keyboard maestro Jose Roberto Bertrami who co-wrote several of the tracks and plays organ, piano and synthesizers on the album. It also features Azymuth’s bassist Alex Malheiros and percussionist Ariovaldo Contestini, with Romildo Santos who produced the album on drums. Recorded in Estudio Haway around the same time Azymuth recorded their debut album there, it’s no wonder the samba jazz-funk pioneer’s distinctive aesthetic is present throughout, and Mazzotti’s sensational compositions are made even more beautiful for it.) 27.00 THE BLACK ANGELS - Wilderness of Mirrors DLP (col. vinyl) ("The best music reflects a wide-screen view of the world back at us, helping distill the universal into something far more personal. Since forming in Austin in 2004, The Black Angels have become standard-bearers for modern psych-rock that does exactly that, which is one of many reasons why the group’s new album, Wilderness of Mirrors, feels so aptly named. In the five years since the band’s prior album, Death Song, and the two-plus years spent working on Wilderness of Mirrors, pandemics, political tumult and the ongoing devastation of the environment have provided ample fodder for the Black Angels’ signature sonic approach. Wilderness of Mirrors expertly refines the Black Angels’ psychedelic rock attack alongside a host of intriguing sounds and textures. There are classic blasts of fuzzed-out guitars meant to simultaneously perk up the ears and jumpstart the mind, alongside melancholy, acoustic guitar-driven newfound experiments. Mellotron, strings, and other keyboards also play a more prominent role on Wilderness of Mirrors than ever before. ) 30.00 BLITZ - Second Empire Justice LP (png - Released a year after their much herald debut album 'Voice of a Generation’, 'Second Empire Justice’ features half the members from the original line-up and with a new sound. While initially being an Oi! /Skinhead Punk band, on 'Second Empire Justice' they not only changed members and their look but also their sound and released a Post-Punk classic with a heavy dose of Joy Division worship, produced by Chris Nagle. While Nagle had also produced their debut album, he had also engineered the Joy Division and New Order albums under Martin Hannett and had also engineered various other post punk albums of the day from the likes of The Durutti Column, A Certain Ratio and Magazine. Together the band and Nagle created a masterpiece while not appreciated at the time, especially by their original skinhead/Oi! fanbase. The album would go onto influence tons of post-punk/darkwave bands that sprouted from the ashes of punk/hardcore bands decades later and become one of the most sought-after albums of the golden age of post-punk. So, sit back and listen to these beautiful moody haunting guitars, dancing basslines and emotionally fragile vocals all the while retaining a punk ferocity.) 23.00 BRANNTEN SCHNÜRE - Das Glück Vermeiden LP (quirlenschlängle - Newest album by experimental dark folk group from Brannten Schnüre from Würzburg & Leipzig, Germany.) 28.00 CODEINE - Dessau LP (numero - Codeine were an American slowcore band featuring Chris Brokaw who also formed Come. ‘Dassau’ was supposed to be the follow-up to their debut album ‘Frigid Stars’ but was never released. Recorded in 1992, technical problems in the studio led to the album being shelved and saw Brokaw leave the band. Some of the songs were reworked for the band’s ‘The White Birch’ album. For the album’s thirtieth anniversary, the album is being released as originally intended for the first time.) 30.00 CONVERGE - Bloodmoon: 1 DLP (Deathwish - “We wanted to do something grander than the typical four-piece Converge music,” says Converge vocalist - Jacob Bannon in reference to the inspiration that eventually bloomed into Bloodmoon: I, the new collaborative album created by the legendary hardcore band alongside dark songstress Chelsea Wolfe, her bandmate/writing partner Ben Chisolm, and Cave In vocalist/guitarist Stephen Brodsky.) 42.00 EMMA RUTH RUNDLE & THOU - May Our Chambers Be Full LP (col. vinyl) (sacred bones - Stemming out of an offer from Roadburn Festival organizer Walter Hoeijmakers, mutual acquaintances, and a shared love of each other’s output, May Our Chambers Be Full is the first recorded document of collaboration between Emma Ruth Rundle and Thou. While their solo material seems on its face to be quite disparate, both groups have spent their respective careers lurking at the outer boundaries of the heavy metal scene, the artists having more in common with DIY punk and its spiritual successor, grunge. May Our Chambers Be Full straddles a similar, very fine line both musically and thematically. While Emma Ruth Rundle’s standard fare is a blend of post-rock-infused folk music, and Thou is typically known for its downtuned, doomy sludge, the conjoining of the two artists has created a record more in the vein of the early ’90s Seattle sound and later ’90s episodes of Alternative Nation, while still retaining much of the artists’ core identities. Likewise, the lyrical content of the album is a marriage of mental trauma, existential crises, and the ecstatic tradition of the expressionist dance movement. “Excessive sorrow laughs. Excessive joy weeps.” Melodic, melancholic, heavy, visceral. ) 26.00 EMMA RUTH RUNDLE - Electric Guitar: Two (Dowsing Voice) LP (col. vinyl) (sergeant - Emma Ruth Rundle's second installment in her Electric Guitar series, EG2: Dowsing Voice, is almost like the soundtrack to a film that hasn't been made. The mostly instrumental record follows her on a trip to the Welsh coast and down a magical well into the waters of nature, myth and the Old Gods - by way of her improvised music. The 40 plus minute album was sewn together from recordings channeled during her month-long solo journey in the early days of 2020 and completed before 2021's critically lauded album Engine of Hell was even written.) 30.00 The IgG Band - Ultra/Sound LP (kalita - Kalita are excited to announce the first ever reissue of student medical group the IgG Band’s highly sought-after 1980 soul, funk and disco grail ‘Ultra/Sound’. Originally privately released in a small run on bandmember Clifford Becker’s Infusion Records imprint, the album has since become a treasured prize of but a handful of diehard collectors and DJs as a result of both its scarcity and quality. Now, in partnership with the band, Kalita shine a light on the album for the first time in over forty years, accompanied by never-before-seen archival photos and extensive interview-based liner notes. Formed in March 1979 out of a young group of musically talented students at Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee, the IgG Band was, as leader Clifford Becker recalls, first created ‘to play music to please ourselves and friends, and as an outlet to the ever pending and growing pressure of our medical education’. However, by 1980 the IgG Band had developed enough original material that they were ready to put their music to wax, and ‘Ultra/Sound’ was recorded at Hilltop Recording Studios in Nashville, with each band member contributing their part separately when their busy medical schedules allowed.) 25.00 KARATE - Bed Is In the Ocean LP (numero - On their third album, 1998’s ‘The Bed Is In The Ocean’, Karate allowed further influences of jazz to bleed into their already complex fusion of emo, post-hardcore, indie and post-rock. With the departure of guitarist Eamonn Vitt the year before, the group’s punky twin-guitar attack was naturally toned down this time out, bringing out even more nuance in their sound.) 30.00 MALARIA! / MANIA D. / MATADOR - M_Sessions - Rare Originals LP (Berlin’s groundbreaking punk madams are subject of a necessary archive deep dive, reappraising a glut of killer live room recordings and demos from their seminal early years at the crux of the city’s scuzzy wave scene. Part of 40th anniversary commemorations, this is the 2nd part of ‘M_Sessions’, so named after their shared initial of three projects revolving the legendary Gudrun Gut, in various configurations; Mania D. (Gudrun with Beate Bartel, Bettina Köster, Eva-Maria Goßling), Malaria! (Gudrun beside Bettina Köster, Christine Hahn, Manon Duursma, Susanne Kuhnke), and Matador (Gudrun plus Beate bartel and Manon Duursma). Supplementing a side of reinterpretations by the likes of Lucretia Dalt, Midori Hirano and AGF, this collection turns up an abundance of previously unheard material capturing Gudrun and her cohort in their element, variously playing to crowds of post-punks, EBM pioneers and early post-industrialists in the belly of West Berlin and farther afield during the cold war years. ) 23.00 MARY LATTIMORE + GROWING - Gainer LP (*Breathtaking collaboration between harpist Mary Lattimore and 'amplified ambient' pioneers, Growing!** Comprised of two side-long pieces, 'Gainer' is less a meeting point of harp and drone guitars and much more a singular creative group vision made up of elemental movements, electrically charged flow and a symphonic aura by three masters of contemporary ambient and experimental composition. Gainer is rumored to be the first record in a series of collaborative albums by Lattimore and Growing.) 29.00 MARSEN JULES - Herbstlaub LP (Kevlar - »Herbstlaub,« the third album by Marsen Jules, was both introspective and visionary, modest and ground-breaking. Blending elements of classical music with electronic textures, the German artist created six pieces that draw on the power of repetition, yet are full of internal tensions and sweeping dynamics. Now, Keplar makes it available again on vinyl for the first time since its original release in 2005. This version, remastered by Stephan Mathieu and with a new artwork by Umor Rex’s Daniel Castrejón, shines a new light on a record that paved the way not only for the artist’s later work, but also further developments in electronic and ambient music more broadly. ) 25.00 MONICA RYPMA - Classifieds LP (BBE - BBE Music presents the first ever reissue of ‘Classifieds’, an ultra-rare, privately pressed 1985 album by Moonshine aka Monica Rypma & Friends. A naive and charming dose of dreamy DIY synth-pop interspersed with off-kilter, ambient interludes, original copies of ‘Classifieds’ are now almost impossible to dig up, but lately, thanks to the internet, the album has earned a cult following from music obsessives all over the globe. Created by aspiring songwriter and recent music-school dropout Monica Rypma, incredibly the album’s recording and production was entirely financed from sponsorship and advertising, way back in 1985. Inspired by René Van Helsdingen, the Amsterdam based composer, pianist and crowdfunding pioneer, Monica decided to sell advertising space on the album sleeve and name the album 'Classifieds', designing the cover to mimic a newspaper’s small ads layout. ) 35.00 MONIKA WERKSTATT - M_Sessions Remixed LP (moabit - M_SESSIONS REMIXED Monika Werkstatt plays Mania D, Malaria!, Matador remixed by Pilocka Krach, Acid Pauli & c00lm8 In 2021 Bettina Köster, Gudrun Gut and Beate Bartel celebrated M_Dokumente: a major retrospective of their early and still highly influential band projects, MANIA D., MALARIA!, MATADOR. M_Dokumente was both a book released via Ventil Verlag, a 2xLP of covers played by the Monika Werkstatt as well as an exhibition and performance series at Silent Green in Berlin, Wedding. ) 23.00 MOTTE - Cold + Liquid LP (She aimed to make something colossal, and set about finding the right textures to add. A friend who works at Oamaru Freezing Works gave her field recordings of the temperature control room, a vast cold space of isolated machinery, where ice grows and dissolves in ever-evolving sculptures. Getting her hands on shortwave/longwave radios, she incorporated frequency sweeps. Another friend provided her with the mechanical drones underneath the deck of a cement cargo ship, as it lay docked in Lyttelton Harbor. Still more sources came from Sign of the Bellbird, an historic environmental site in South Christchurch, where Clark and Thomas Lambert recorded bellbirds, rolling boulders, snapping sticks, thrown dirt and the papery sound of the native harakeke plant. While violin dominates the first Motte album Strange Dreams (2017), Clark sought to expand instrumentation. She was gifted a handmade Pūrerehua puoro, a traditional Māori instrument that sounds similar to the whirling and hovering of a moth (which is “motte” in German). A reacquaintance to the guitar occurred after developing an alter ego project entitled 'Sex Den,' with sleazy noir-esque guitar riffs in response to a failed rumour from a local drug-addled dive bar. Guitar and synth allowed for a broader songwriting palette along with a sometimes Dadaist approach to lyric writing. These new tools accent the extreme ambiences of Cold + Liquid, while additional work was provided by Ben Woods on synth and bowed guitar. ) 28.00 NEWTOWN NEUROTICS - Beggars Can Be Choosers LP (png - Originally released in 1983 on UK Punk label Razor Records and now available domestically for the first time in USA. This is one of the best political punk albums ever released. Take the ferocity and sloganeering of the Clash and the call to arms of Stiff Little Fingers and add the charm and rhythmic power of the Ramones and you get this magical album. Loaded with witty and humorous songs about teenage frustrations, the complexities of relationships and serious subjects as well such as racial tensions, equality, and boredom.) 23.00 NOVY SVET - Desde Infiernos De Flores LP (qurlschlängle - "Some secrets remain untold forever. Luckily, the enigma around NOVY SVET's near-mythical "Desde Infierno de Flores" sessions is no longer one of them. Unleashed in only fragmentary and yet incomplete bits on two short mini-CDs on their in-house label NEKOFUTSCHATA in 2004 and 2005, this "hell made of flowers" was the place where the Austrian cult-duo scattered their legacy onto a whole new level of WTF? sound alchemy, taking musical liberties like never before. Much to the astonishment of some of their loyal combat-folk followers, Weber and Tost abandoned their trademark post-industrial loop techniques here in favour of a much more intricate and abstract collage of dream logic snippets, riddled with a million brilliant ideas per minute, touching on trip-hop, dub, avant-jazz, you name it! No matter how opaque and moody these sessions seem, these were NOVY SVET's halcyon days: all bathed in the sunlight of a Catalan afternoon, insects buzzing in the heat, beat monkeys meditating along, and in the thick of it Jürgen Weber reflecting on love and death in his distinctive voice with somnambulistic ease. And now it's all here, finally, at last, rescued from the fangs of oblivion. It is a wet dream some die-hard fans might have fantasised about for decades. And for those new to the party: you are in for a bit special moment in NOVY SVET's discography, at the very apex of their iridescent luminosity. "Desde Infiernos de Flores" - a glittering, coruscating pile of shards where published bits join unpublished ones and everything becomes familiar in the unfamiliar." (Quirlschlängle)) 26.00 THE PARTISANS - s/t LP (png - Not only were the Partisans one of the best and most inspiring bands from the third wave of British Punk. Hailing from Wales, originally starting out in 1978, they not only channeled all the melody and magic of their influences (Sex Pistols /Clash / Ramones/ Vibrators / Stiff Little Fingers /UK Subs) from the first two waves of UK and American punk they added a refreshing amount of youthful energy and best of all a hard 'kids on the street' edge to their sound. Originally released in 1983 on the now legendary No Future Records This debut LP has become one of the seminal albums in 80s British punk alongside records from the likes of Blitz, Red Alert and Cock Sparrer. Just one listen to songs like '17 Years Of Hell' and 'I Never Needed You' and you'll know why this album shows up constantly on so many 'Top 100' must have lists of Classic UK Punk.) 23.00 SCULPTURE CLUB - A Place To Stand LP (Existing in a place not normally associated with the darker currents of culture, the pristine valley backdrop of Salt Lake City is home to the moody and vibrant new romantic sounds of Sculpture Club's post-punk-garage-goth. Chaz Costello (guitar and vocals), Madison Donnelly (drums), and Chris Copelin (bass) have been playing together since 2013. Sculpture Club's A Place to Stand features the catchiest candy songs wrapped around a dark and tormented center, generating unprovoked optimism side by side with devastating disenchantment. A Place To Stand is the first full length release by the band featuring 11 songs of gloomy pop perfection. Their influences range from early Cure and The Chameleons to Blank Dogs, Grave Babies, and Les Savy Fav. Originally released on cassette to underground cult acclaim, Cercle Social Records based in Portland Oregon will be releasing the newly remastered version for vinyl..) 25.00 SEKUNDERNA - Här Har Du Ditt Liv LP (rockstar - Have you ever wondered what would happen if you start mixing the catchy melodies of ABBA and the sex appeal of Roxette with the heavenly guitar playing of the Marked Men and the attitude of Pippi Longstocking? Well, you should have done that once. Because now Sekunderna's debut album comes as a complete surprise and hits you unprepared in the pit of your stomach and in your heart. This can be dangerous, you are not that young anymore! 12 Power Pop Punk Rock songs with the very best sing-along recipe from Umeå.) 17.00 STEREOLAB - Pulse Of The Early Brain [Switched On Volume 5] 3xLP (The fifth "Switched On" volume from Stereolab yet again sweeps up a bunch of their rarest releases, throwing them together with a few unreleased tracks for good measure. This one's especially worth a peek, including Autechre's genius remix of 'Refractions in the Plastic Pulse' and Stereolab's second lengthy collab with Nurse With Wound. 'Pulse of the Early Brain' opens with Stereolab's album-length 'Simple Headphone Mind' collaboration with Nurse With Wound, 31 minutes of psychedelic kraut-directed squiggle that's worth the asking price alone. Like with their previous NWW collaboration, the band sent material to Steven Stapleton - in this case 'The Long Hair of Death', which emerged on a later split with Yo La Tengo - who shaped it into something completely different in his studio. The same track was used on both versions, and Stapleton fleshes out Stereolab's motorik original with lysergic synths, dissociated blotter-strength timestretched voices and discomposing foley samples. Essential gear, basically. Elsewhere, there's remastered jams from throughout the band's history, like a suite of loungey "Chemical Chords"-era tracks, and the synth-fried 1998 gem 'Symbolic Logic of Now!'. Autechre's blunted edit of 'Refractions In The Plastic Pulse' is an unexpected inclusion, and still one of our favorite AE remixes - an "LP5"/"EP7" drumwall collapse that turns Stereolab's original into ghost traces over precision-sliced drums.) 45.00 TAR - Handsome LP (chunk let - Tar were an uncompromising prolific Chicago four piece band from 1988 to 1995 who put out many records and toured the US and Europe frequently with the likes of The Jesus Lizard, Arcwelder, Unsane, Surgery, and Jawbox. Over thirty years since the original releases, Tar’s first three 12" records are being reissued. Co-released by the band’s No Blow Records and Chunklet Industries, the Handsome EP and full length LPs Roundhouse and Jackson are being rediscovered. All three records were remastered and cut to lacquer by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service. The artwork was painstakingly reimagined and recreated by the band’s drummer, Mike Greenlees. ) 28.00 TAR - Roundhouse LP (chunk let - Tar were an uncompromising prolific Chicago four piece band from 1988 to 1995 who put out many records and toured the US and Europe frequently with the likes of The Jesus Lizard, Arcwelder, Unsane, Surgery, and Jawbox. Over thirty years since the original releases, Tar’s first three 12" records are being reissued. All three records were remastered and cut to lacquer by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service. The artwork was painstakingly reimagined and recreated by the band’s drummer, Mike Greenlees. This music has withstood the test of time. With the stunning remastering and 180gm pressing at Chicago's Smashed Plastic pressing plant, this is no regular reissue. With exacting detail, the highest quality and attention to detail, the listener and fans are invited to truly reexperience these releases anew. It’s time to celebrate Tar. Again.) 30.00 V/A - Eccentric Soul: The Shiptown Label LP (numero - From a humble storefront studio located in a shoeshine parlor on Norfolk, Virginia’s Church Street, Noah Biggs built a world. Hustler by day, gambler by night, the always-in-a-suit Biggs took a gaggle of off-brand singers and combined his connections and charisma to forge timeless soul music during a period of deep upheaval. Compiled here are 25 of Shiptown’s most compelling sides recorded between 1965-1977, from the likes of Ida Sands, The Soul Duo, The Anglos, Dream Team, The Grooms, Positive Sounds, Barbara Stant, Wilson Williams, Art Ensley, and yes, Flip Flop Stevens.) 37.00 V/A - Valley Of The Sun - Field Guide To Inner Harmony DLP (numero - 2LP on Numero Group. Includes 24-page booklet with extensive liner notes. Both a marketing firm and metaphysical mission, Valley of the Sun synthesized style and spirituality to produce an extensive catalog that at once defines and defies new age music. Founder Dick Sutphen worked with tireless devotion to spread a message he believed could change the world for the better. This 18-track Double LP overview of VOTS’ fertile 1977-1990 period includes music from Upper Astral, Robert Slap & Steve Powell, David Naegele, David Storrs, Steven Cooper, and Gloria Thomas, a 24-page booklet with extensive liner notes, J-card scans, and a hint of Sedona sand. Subliminal hypnosis likely.) 37.00 WIEGEDOOD - There's Always Blood At The End Of The Road DLP (century - As the world circles the abyss at gathering speed, WIEGEDOOD have returned to provide a perfectly vicious soundtrack. Formed in 2014, the Belgian trio have built an unassailable reputation as purveyors of visceral and bleak black metal in its purest and most destructive form. Since unveiling their debut album “De Doden Hebben Het Goed” in 2015, WIEGEDOOD have blazed an unending trail for musical darkness, bolstering their burgeoning notoriety with some of the most apocalyptic live performances in recent memory, and producing two subsequent albums – “De Doden Hebben Het Goed II” and “III”, released in 2017 and 2018 respectively – which hammered home the band’s unique creative powers.) 35.00 MAGAZINES WIRE - #464 I Oct 2022 MAG (Inside this issue: Lucrecia Dalt: The Colombian composer, musician and vocalist explores eroticism, horror and beauty via soundtracks, collaborations and solo work.
