LP
CHAT PILE - Cool World LP (flenser - Lavender Eco Mix - A visceral noise rock attack on the synapses that repeatedly ventures grandiosely towards industrial metal and takes no prisoners. The quartet from Oklahoma City also uses stylistic devices from sludge, the vocals switch between lament, dangerous boredom, increasing anger and screaming, and even death metal guttural singing. Add to that rubble bass and push drums and fantastic guitars that sometimes dock with Unsane, sometimes with Killing Joke, sometimes with Ministry and make your head nod with their colossal power. The ideal soundtrack for a society that has entered an age of horror instead of following the American dream.) 32.00
CLOUDDEAD - cLOUDDEAD 3xLP (superior viaduct - CLEAR VINYL / LIMITED TO 300. cLOUDDEAD's debut album, compiling six 10" EPs that appeared between 2000-2001, is aurally dense and obscured. A sprawling mass of miniature beat-suites and Dadaist lyrics, this strange and beautiful 3xLP would influence a myriad of sub-genres (cloud rap, hauntology, lo-fi hip-hop, etc.) in the two decades since its initial release. Only the three members of cLOUDDEAD – Why?, Odd Nosdam and Doseone – can speak to the group's origins, but in the context of underground hip-hop towards the end of the 20th century, their arrival makes perfect sense. Cincinnati had a vital scene; home to Scribble Jam, an annual confluence of MCs, DJs, B-boys and graffiti artists. While the trio soon relocated to the Bay Area where they co-founded the Anticon collective, their Midwestern roots – in ramshackle basements of off-campus hovels, as the "cerberus of Southern Ohio" – would remain the atomic heart of their early recordings. ) 46.00
DAVID EDREN - Binnenin LP (black sweat - Probably in another life David Edren (DSR Lines) was a visionary biologist or chemist. In this new sound adventure, he becomes the narrator of anatomical and cellular symphonies, catharsis of invisible biochemical processes, painting the micro-dimensional flows of the subtle body or imaginary geographies of hidden micro-bodies. Here, his organic electronic music is enriched with new lymphs that also vaguely recall the influences of non-European music, especially Chinese and Japanese music (stick and chimes percussions) in an intimate and twilight dimension, poised between exotic ambient and cinematic suggestions. A miniaturistic description of liquid currents, labyrinthine veins, weaving streams, molecules and particles in multi-orbital dances, muscular chords, drowning bubbles, light waves; all in a confident compositional overview that is absolutely unique and fascinating.) 28.00
DSR LINES - III-II LP (blank sweat - Through the course of time, DSR Lines (David Edren) never loses his intimate and profound connection to the universe of modular synths. These recordings made during 2014 in a residence at the Cem/Worm studio in Rotterdam, represent a further magical compendium of his Organic Electronic Music. In particular, here he draws from his expressive arsenal the cosmic and galactic potential of the Arp 2500, which happily floating throughout. A rigorous magician of vaporous, oscillating patterns, sidereal frequencies, nebulous dust; an explorer of inter-zonal paths, he unveils new dreamlike dimensions en route to unfold planets. Between Kraut-Kosmische accelerations and a personal approach of gentle minimalism, he always forges rare atmospheres of rhythmic pulsation, full of enveloping, spherical and spiralling sounds, luminous and radiant in their hypnotic aura, or magnificently ecstatic and ascending. Originally released by Ultra Eczema.) 28.00
DUSTER - In Dreams LP (numero - San Jose slowcore/space rock band Duster returns with their surprise album In Dreams, continuing their penchant for sonically framing an open question. The thirteen tracks focus on their trademark dark, droning guitar tones, stripped-back percussion, and seductive, harsh vocals, while also exploring and expanding synth-heavy and drum machine avenues. At the height of their lo-fi power, Duster deliver an album that expertly captures and expands on the band's signature atmospheric sound.) 28.00
ENDING THINGS - s/t LP (DIY _ Post-Hardcore / Post Metal from Vorarlberg, Austria with members of I NOT DANCE, THE OMISSION and LEBRISK.) 20.00
FRANCISKA OG EMILIE - s/t LP (discreet - Jonas Torstensen returns to Discreet Music with the second Franciska album, following up the much praised Tryghed(Discreet Music 12) that was released in early 2023. Since Tryghed came out, Franciska has quickly become an established forefront of a young, new generation of Scandinavian experimental DIY musicians. This time a joint effort with his longtime friend and collaborator Camille Helt Haarder, the new album is dedicated to their shared hometown Odense in Denmark. Mainly based on piano loops, cello, field recordings and a sparse use of electronics, the album is a culmination of an already pretty much perfect run of unique, shimmering tape music. While the palette might be familiar, the emotive sharpness and general preciseness on this album could be seen as a direct result of lots of recordings and performances the last few years. Still heavily utilizing cassettes and rudimentary hands-on editing, the raw compositions are at the same time more developed and refined. A truly special record that very much captures the essence of not only Discreet Music but what excites us about relevant contemporary music in general. Recorded between January and October 2023, mastered for vinyl by Martin Lindum Cederholm. Edition of 500 copies, comes with insert with liner notes by Jonas Torstensen) 17.00
GHOST DUBS - Damaged DLP (pressure - Ghost Dubs, real name Michael Fiedler, aka Jah Schulz, announces a rebirth with 'Damaged', his first album for The Bug's PRESSURE label. Having recently dropped two criminally overlooked, experimental dub LPs, with his 'Dub Over Science' series, the German producer/bass specialist, now stretches his own parameters of outwardness still further, with these twelve fresh explorations of dub deviance. For those who feel the fusion of dub techno and ambient drone had creatively ended with the demise of the short lived, Berlin based Chain Reaction label. Ghost Dubs now upgrades and extends that legendary blueprint's abstract methodology even further and deeper, floating away upon a wonderfully warm sea of hiss and static bliss. This is dub so atomized that it disintegrates within your eardrums. Its music, where the machines take over and virtually all traces of humanity are erased. But thankfully, the warmest soul still oozes seductively from the pores of Fiedler's robo riddims. Relentlessly hypnotic, seriously sedated, 'Damaged' celebrates the point of departure within its mesmerising low-end grooves. Album opener 'Chemical', provides an opiated slo-mo skank, which sounds like Plastikman's 'Consumed' era pulsations drenched heavily in sub aquatic fx. A triumph of surface noise surfing and sub-woofer testing relentlessness, it provides the perfect intro to this compellingly immersive album. For batty shakers and headtrippers alike, there's added thrills aplenty, as Ghost Dub's richter scale tremor rhythms remain impressively massive, and the atmospheric depths of 'Damaged' appear tantalisingly oceanic. Throughout the duration of the dreamy selection, there is an obsessive balance of bewitching ambience and heavyweight bassbin shaking. The lead single 'Thin Line' itself provides a missing link between African Head Charge's early percussive body probes and Rhythm & Sound's addictive radiance, with the slightest hint of Burial's doomed romantic hauntology added for good taste. Alternately, and no less gracefully, 'Dub Lobotomy' bizarrely resembles Miles Davis 'Get Up with it' chopped, screwed, and relocated to a futuristic Kingston Town. Impressive indeed, Fiedler's mastery of live dubbing on his mixing desk shines across the duration, and gives the album an improvised edge, and sense of peripheral chaos. Elsewhere, spooked steppers ('Hot Wired'), haunting house ('True to life') and 4th World psychogeography ('Undone'), combine to ensure there is a forever changing mixture of flavours percolating within the admirable consistency of the overall sound. With a tip of the cap, and nod of the head to Pole ('Second Thoughts'), it's no surprise then that PRESSURE would then turn to the great, Berlin based producer Stefan Betke, to master/cut this collection at his infamous Scape mastering room. And a fine job he did too, as high quality sound and levels are definitely maintained throughout. If you like your melodies submerged, your dub narcotic, your basslines obese, and your beats evaporating, 'Damaged' provides the perfect prescription and entry point into Ghost Dub's spectral soundworld. DIE GOLDENEN ZITRONEN - Inventur 3xLP (buback - The Goldenen Zitronen have been one of the defining bands in the German independent scene for more than three decades. Since their formation in Hamburg in 1984, they have released 13 regular albums. Initially as part of the fun punk scene, they expanded their musical spectrum from simple, fast punk and rockabilly songs to more complex and experimental song structures. Their music contains connections to new wave bands of the 80s and krautrock of the 70s, as well as to contemporary forms of electronic music. In their lyrics, the Goldenen Zitronen have become increasingly astute observers of social conditions since the 90s and have developed their very own style of dealing with the German language. In 2024, they will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a best of compilation on 3 vinyls including 24 tour posters from all decades.) 45.00
JONATHAN BOCKELMANN - Sakamoto on Guitar LP (squama - Jonathan Bockelmann is a classical guitarist and composer based in Munich who first made waves in 2023 with his debut album ‘Childish Mind’. His entry into composing were arrangements he had made of pieces by Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Some of these have been released digitally in three editions and are now available on vinyl for the first time. The record comes in high quality packaging with an embossed art print and features both some of Sakamoto’s lesser-known works like the ‘Suite for Krug’ as well as iconic pieces like ‘Bibo No Aozora’.) 28.00
KAMALESH MAITRA - Raag Kirwani on Tabla Tarang LP (black truffle - Carrying on a string of stunning archival releases from major figures of Indian classical tradition (including releases from members of the Dagar family and Amelia Cuni), Black Truffle is pleased to announce an unheard recording from tabla master Kamalesh Maitra (1924-2005). For over fifty years, Maitra devoted himself to the rare tabla tarang, a set of between ten and sixteen hand drums tuned to the notes of the raag to be performed. While the tabla tarang has its origins in the late 19th century, Maitra was the first to recognise its potential as a solo concert instrument, using the set of tuned drums to perform full-length raags. Seated behind a semi-circular array of drums, Maitra produced stunning waves of melodic improvisation enlivened with the rhythmic invention of a master percussionist.) 30.00
LOVELY MIDGET - s/t LP (Fördämning Arkiv - A long time in the works vinyl edition of one of our favorite New Zealand albums. Rachel Shearers astonishing debut as Lovely Midget was originally released as a CD on Corpus Hermeticum in 2000. Mastered for vinyl by Giuseppe Ielasi and pressed in an edition of 500 copies, comes with insert. This self-titled disc was the first full-length Lovely Midget offering, which I released on Corpus Hermeticum as a CD only in May of 2000. It followed a 10” on Ecstatic Peace a couple of years earlier. Rachel Shearer (who is the Lovely Midget) had, however, been busy since the late 80’s in the rock groups Angelhead (a cassette on Xpressway), and Queen Meanie Puss (singles on Siltbreeze and Flying Nun). She spent the latter part of the 1990s perfecting her engineering skills and developing the modus operandi that made Lovely Midget possible. The music of Lovely Midget is all about texture, there’s not just an LM ‘sound’, there’s an LM ‘feel’ as well. This is achieved by careful and extensive digital modification of recorded sounds. Their origin might be instrumental (as she claims for much of this album) but they sound ultimately anything but. This is a painstaking, almost lapidary approach, which produces highly polished fragments of sound, constructed like a mosaic into more-than-lifesize pictures in sound. Sounds are sanded away, then reconstructed from piles of dust-like granules; they are polished into unnatural brilliance, then dirtied up again into new shapes mimicking nature, but with subtle yet undeniable differences. At its most extreme this can produce an other-worldly ‘underwater’ sound, where every sonic event is heard through a curtain of intangible but unavoidable substance. Even the ‘songs’, where these exist as frameworks for the pieces, have been stripped back to their musical chassis and reassembled in the same order but to a different end. The effect is like listening to the ghosts of a yet unborn generation, paradoxical and uncanny. Lovely Midget was thus totally contemporary in the production sense at the fin de siecle, using state-of-the-art tools, but the music was and remains uncategorisable, achingly cool NZ soundwork for the 21st Century. While some might ‘chill out’ to this kind of thing, the truly discerning will quite simply find it too damn exciting. Pour yourself a glass of top-shelf vodka straight from the freezer and listen up as these beautiful dreamy drones and hovering inverted sound sculptures softly clash like floating icebergs of sound in a frozen fjord. Immaculate purity of aural vision realised. - Bruce Russell ) 28.00
MELT BANANA - Fetch LP (a zap - Repress! 2013 disc that is a real gem. Knowing the Japanese, you know that they do everything 240 percent. So it's no surprise that this duo once again delivers an absolutely hearty noise-core massacre that is second to none. Wild guitar action, screaming female vox and the fiddly shooting gallery are complemented by the occasional electronica and, surprisingly, quieter moments even remind you of Kate Bush. Sayounara!) 30.00
MELT BANANA - 3+5 LP (A Zap - Eighth studio album by the noise rockers from Tokyo! The album showcases the duo's visionary musical approach and their exceptional skills as artists: Yasuko Onuki's dizzying, hyperactive vocals and Ichiro Agata's glitchy cyberpunk guitar immersed in aggressive electronic sounds at dizzying speed. Their aesthetic approach is experimental, fusing different genres with a chaotic energy. As on their previous works, the music on 3+5 is unpredictable, always full of surprises and tension. 3+5 synthesizes elements of various extreme music genres, hyper-pop, classic punk, vintage metal and noise. It is a part of Japanese culture as a whole, especially the subcultures of gaming, anime and underground music. Melt-Banana want to offer opportunities to musicians who don't want to start a band if they can't find a drummer, young women who are afraid to express themselves with their own unfiltered and unique voice, bedroom musicians and eggpunks who want to mix electronic noise with live instruments. 3+5 offers a new experience and perhaps inspiration for everyone. Although Melt-Banana didn't explicitly explain the meaning of the album title 3+5, prime numbers symbolize mathematical integrity and independence, which could stand for the band's uniqueness and freedom. Why "3+5" and not "1 + 7"? That's a mystery. "Tokyo-based Melt-Banana are a band that is rightly praised around the world and is responsible for some of the most complex punk rock of all time..." - Olli Siebelt, BBC) 30.00
PAOLO SPACCAMONTI - Decay Music n.7: Ifigenia / Oreste LP (die schachtel - Die Schachtel Records is proud to present Ifigenia/Oreste, a new vinyl LP by celebrated Italian composer Paolo Spaccamonti. This album marks the seventh installment in the label's renowned Decay Music series, which has become synonymous with deeply emotive, abstract, and electronic/ambient music, which has so fare featured works of such names as Stefano Pilia, Giovanni di Domenico, Sandro Mussida, Vértice, Damavand and Claudio Rocchetti. Aim of the series is composing a fascinating scenario of the most interesting names of experimental musicians – mainly of Italian origins - working at the intersection of sound and music, abstract and visual, storytelling and abstract composition.) 30.00

ROSALI - Bite Down LP (merge - Bite Down, the Merge Records debut of Rosali, finds acclaimed songwriter and guitarist Rosali Middleman in the midst of transition. Written after moving to North Carolina from her longtime home of Philadelphia, Bite Down is a searching, hungry record by an artist who is resolved to bite down on life, in all its horror and joy. She is joined here by Mowed Sound_David Nance (bass, guitar), James Schroeder (guitar, synth), Kevin Donahue (drums, percussion)_and in studio by Destroyer collaborator Ted Bois (keys). Bite Down is Rosali's second album working with Mowed Sound, and there is urgency and ambition in their collaboration_a band pushing each other not just to expand on what they've already done together, but to break through into altogether new territory. Among those joining Rosali and her band there is Dan Bejar of Destroyer, who waxes poetically on where she's been, where she's going, and how thrilling Bite Down is to experience: It's hard to talk about Rosali's music. Songs that reach outward like this, but then constantly disarm with their intimacy. What do you call such inner searching that is hellbent on rollicking? Songs that long for a sense of peace and songs that want romance, all on equal footing in the same plot of earth? Performed wild, but always centered around the incredible lyrical calm that is Rosali's voice. Bite Down makes me think about singers and bands that throw themselves hard into the storm, the way the Rosali quartet does. (Jim captures the tone of this perfectly, again!) The calm of her voice over top of the band's raging_it is the emblem of songs that live to put themselves in harm's way. But it's not harm.) 28.00
SWAMI JOHN REIS - ride the wild night LP (swami - epressed! Swami John Reis celebrates his 100th anniversary in rock 'n' roll with a brand new band and album! Neither similar nor dissimilar to his previous bands (Hot Snakes, Night Marchers, The Sultans, Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, etc.), yet instantly familiar. The music is a mix of '60s folk punk, '70s punk, and pre-Vietnam War rock 'n' roll. The sound is built on a foundation of the wild drumming of J. Sinclair K. of the Hot Snakes and the pounding piano of Joe Guevara. Hear his defiant, rasping howl of protest in what may be his most autobiographical work yet. Music critics and fans have long referred to Reis's signature voice as "The Velvet Yawn," and never has that description been more apt. Ride The Wild Night was recorded at City Of Refuge (Night Marchers, Black Lips, The Spits) on an 8-track tape machine and mixed by Ben Moore (Hot Snakes, Diamanda Galas) at Singing Serpent) 30.00
S.Y.P.H. - Pure Freude Singles 1979 - 1981 LP (tapete - With their unpredictable live performances and songs like "Back to Concrete" and "Industrial Girl", S.Y.P.H. caused a sensation at the end of the 70s - as one of the bands around Düsseldorf's Ratinger Hof that began to write lyrics in German. From the very beginning, the band broke with genre-conformist expectations and made music that drew on rock, punk and Kraut as well as the unbridled nature of Dadaism and the reality of everyday life. S.Y.P.H. was founded in 1977 in Solingen and began playing concerts in nearby Düsseldorf. Initially clearly based on punk, the band's sound quickly developed and became increasingly difficult to categorize. In intensive years, productions were created that repeatedly featured guests from the Düsseldorf scene around the Ratinger Hof, but also Holger Czukay from the internationally known experimental rock band CAN, with whom they recorded two albums. First, the first creative phase from 1977 to 1982 is processed. The "Pure Freude Singles" including previously unreleased songs and the self-titled album "S.Y.P.H." Three further re-releases, two of which were produced by CAN's Holger Czukay, will follow in 2025. Pure Freude Singles A collection of the early singles: Four titles - including "Industriemädchen" and "Europa" - originally appeared in 1979 on the EP "Viel Feind, viel Ehr." Thirteen further tracks - including "Falsche Freunde" and "Knudelblues II" - were released in 1982 as "Der Bauer im Parkdeck." Three further songs are previously unreleased.) 30.00

While punk and NDW solidified as supposedly clear terms around 1980, S.Y.P.H.'s music already testified to the actually more blurred genre boundaries on the first, self-titled LP: on the A-side, the band belts out short punk songs like "Zurück zum Beton" and "Lachleute und Nettmenschen" at us, while the B-side surprises with Kraut-inspired pieces lasting over ten minutes.) 30.00
UNTITLED NOISE - Decay Music n.8: I Hate All the Words LP (die schachtel - “I hate all the words” by Luca Scarabelli and Michele Lombardelli’s Untitled Noise, the eight instalments in the celebrated Die Schachtel’s “Decay music” series, is a concept album composed of three tracks designed to explore the remote and hidden depths of psyche: Misery, the awareness; The Time, the suspension of disbelief; and Heaven, the existential atonement through detachment. The sounds and the voice proceed alternately, overlapping, where each, in its progression, asserts itself autonomously—entities unto themselves, presences in dialogue at the edge of possibility. At times primitive and obsessive, they emerge as reminiscences of the unconscious and emotions, which coincide with unconscious, altered, and unexpected lowness. Sound and voice in unison are a burst of a great energy. Noise-glitch sound patterns, distortions, and objects set into vibration in the "soundscape" are mainly performed by Michele Lombardelli. ) 30.00
WORLD BRAIN - Open Source LP (mansions - WORLD BRAIN last graced us with a solo release with 2019’s Peer 2 Peer. As its name suggests, that album explored the promise and perils of universal connectivity via quirked-up songwriting and instrumental psychedelia. His new release, Open Source, deepens this internal and external journey. Bursting beyond the four walls of ‘bedroom pop’ and reflecting a move from Berlin to Paris—where much of the album was recorded—and on to Brussels, the album has a jazzy, cinematic scope (as on the Brubeck-inspired march “Fromage collatéral,”) enveloping the listener in a cosmic-pastoral audiosphere.) 22.00
WORMWITCH - Wormwitch LP (profund lore - Like black wings from an obsidian sky, WORMWITCH descended from the darkness in 2015, somewhere upon the rain-soaked woodlands of coastal British Columbia. Animated from the bones of several local punk and metal bands, the new entity set out to combine a melodic blackened death assault with the ferocity and attitude of crust punk and classic rock and roll, jettisoning the burdens of ceremony and pomp that dominate the genre today. WORMWITCH released their first demo, 'The Long Defeat' in 2015, and shortly after signed to Prosthetic Records, under whom they released 'Strike Mortal Soil' (2017), 'Heaven that Dwells Within' (2019), and 'Wolf Hex' (2021). During that time the band toured with the likes of The Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, Midnight, Necrot, Uada, Bewitcher, and many others, earning themselves a dedicated cult following and international critical praise. In 2022, WORMWITCH struck out to independently release a string of singles and embark upon several tours of North America. After a busy festival season, 2024 saw the release of a six-song split with Atlanta black-thrashers Sadistic Ritual.) 30.00

V/A - When the Frog from the Well Sees the Ocean (Reports from English UFOlklore) LP (folklore tapes - This latest collection from Folklore Tapes borrows its title from a Japanese proverb about knowing one's limitations ("the frog in the well knows nothing of the sea"), which was itself borrowed from a Chinese fable. In the context of an album devoted to UFO lore, of course, humans are the frogs, the infinite universe is the ocean, and the usual eclectic Folklore Tapes cast of characters gleefully devote themselves to celebrating the colorful hoaxes and stories of their countrymen who claim to have experienced a visit from extraterrestrial life. While alien visitations are admittedly a bit outside the usual realm of Folklore Tapes' research, I would be hard pressed to think of a roster of artists better suited to tackle the topic, as just about everyone involved brings a freewheeling playfulness to the theme and surprises abound. This is yet another characteristically brilliant and inspired compilation from the inimitable Folklore Tapes. Hell, it might even be their best yet." - Brainwashed) 30.00
