ACTRESS - Statik LP (small-town - Actress' tenth studio album, the celestial and meditative `Statik' is released this Spring via Smalltown Supersound. The cosmic collaboration between Darren Cunningham and the esteemed Oslobased purveyors of elevated sonics evolved organically following Actress' remix of a Carmen Villain cut for the 12" of her Only Love From Now album. In this vein, the entire `Statik' project, from conception through creation and release, has been blessed with an almost unnatural ease. For Actress, who wrote the majority of his subtly majestic new record in an extensive deep flow state, the project serves as a cohesive testament to artistic liberation. Resultantly, the contemplative new album is imbued with a sense of freedom, while belying its creator's expertise through forensic attention to textural detail and signature Actress resonances. Listening closely, influential visions of aquatic realms, such as the mythic Atlantis, and evocations of flying birds (and, perhaps, humans) may reveal themselves. No matter if Statik inspires you to soar above or below the horizon, Actress and Smalltown Supersound promise you a safe and transcendent journey.) 27.00

AHMED MALEK - Musique Originale De Films (Volume 2) LP (habibi -  We are more than thrilled to share a second collection of deep grooves and unreleased songs from Algeria's Ahmed Malek sound track works with you. Ahmed Malek who has often been compared to Ennio Morricone recorded the majority of these songs in the 1970s and early 1980s. His first releases are standout moments in Habibi Funk label history so we are more than happy to be able to follow up with another presentation of his music in 2024. Initially we got in touch with Ahmed’s music via youtube and then the stars aligned to connect us with his family in Algeria. During one of those visits many years ago his daughter Henia gave us a box full of master tapes that her father had kept at home and this collection eventually played the foundation for this release.  We were and still are mesmerized by how effortlessly the music would switch between thematic jazz, funk and Algerian folk counterweighted with an undertone of melancholia. Musical perception is different for every person, but there is a good chance that Malek’s music will touch you in one way or another. As Ahmed says, “I didn’t choose music, music chose me.”) 27.00

BATS & MICE - PS: Seriously LP (loviutt - Sometimes, the best things take time to finish. In 2012, two of the founding members of the seminal punk trio Bats & Mice stepped into the studio to start work on their follow-up to 2010's "Back In Bat" EP. Then, between babies and careers, life happened, and the project went dark for almost a decade.Bats & Mice is a band that has quietly crept through the music world. Three members of Sleepytime Trio originally formed the band: Jonathan Fuller (Engine Down, Denali), Dave NeSmith (Rah Bras, Committees) and Ben Davis (MileMarker, Committees). They began writing songs together in a new style that pursued their hardcore roots coupled with a more dark and winding sense of melody. However, the music still maintained the energy and drive of their previous efforts. This line-up produced Bats & Mice's first work, a self-titled EP released on Lovitt Records in the fall of 2000, to critical acclaim. Friends Daron Hollowel and Ash Bruce from the band 400 Years joined for a stint in which 'Bats' wrote and released the full-length album entitled, "Believe It Mammals", on Lovitt in the spring of 2002. That line-up toured to support the LP across the US, playing with Fugazi, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, 90 Day Men, Denali, and Gregor Samsa. In 2004, Luke Herbst joined the band on drums, and the band toured Europe in support of a new EP titled "A Person Carrying a Handmade Paper Bag is Considered as a Royal Person". Jonathan Fuller rejoined the group and helped write and record the "Back In Bat" EP, released in 2010. Soon after, Mark Oates (from Wailin' Storms) took over the drums for Jonathan and helped write new songs as the band headed into the studio to record the basic tracks for an LP in 2012. Bats & Mice then shelved the material as life, marriages, children, and Covid ate away the years. In early 2023, the band reconvened in Chapel Hill's Warrior Sound to rework the original tracking and finish a 10-song full-length record. Named "PS: Seriously." the finished LP is finally coming to light in 2024 to be released on Lovitt Records.) 28.00

BONNIE "PRINCE" BILLY / NATHAN SALSBURG / TYLER TROTTER - Hear The Children Sing The Evidence LP (no quarter - When Nathan Salsburg’s daughter Talya was a baby, he often sang her to sleep in a rocking chair. At one point, he remembered a song he had taught himself as a teenager: “The Evidence” by Lungfish, the Maryland band who coined a singular brand of post-punk in the 90s and 00s. Salsburg realized he could play the guitar part with one hand, singing while holding Talya in his other arm. Though the original version of “The Evidence” is only five minutes long, it’s essentially a repetitive mantra, so Salsburg could extend it as long as he wanted–10 minutes, 20 minutes, even an hour. “It was therapeutic and calming and just lovely for me,” he says. “And it worked on her.” Eventually Nathan and Talya moved on from their ritual, but his lullaby cover stayed in his head. “I find that lullabies stick more than anything else,” he says. “Something about the liminal space between awake and asleep, and the way that they ease into the subconsciousness.” So he proposed to his fellow Louisville collaborators Bonnie “Prince” Billy (aka Will Oldham) and Tyler Trotter that they record a version with Salsburg on guitar, Oldham singing, and Trotter adding drum machines and synths. They decided to pair it with a rendition of another Lungfish song, “Hear the Children Sing,” playing each tune for more than enough time to fill two sides of an album.) 28.00

CHRIS CORSANO - The Key (Became the Important Thing [& Then Just Faded Away]) LP (drag city - A feverish essay of transcendent drumming: Chris" solo approach, rooted in the exploration of elements of extended technique, sought another level, via possibilities facilitated by a self-made string drum! The Key (Became The Important Thing [& Then Just Faded Away]) brings his encompassing focus on free improvisation and noise into a granular fusion with acoustic experiments and hot-wired ideations of hard rock riffing and the post-punk sound.) 34.00

DIRTY THREE - Love Changes Everything LP (Bella union - After more than a decade, Dirty Three are back and present their first album since "Toward The Low Sun". With music as their language, their true love, the Australians are bringing their exuberant instrumental sound back to the release landscape. Dirty Three - that's Warren Ellis (also known as a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), Mick Turner and Jim White - formed in Melbourne in 1992 to make music with guitar, drums, violin or viola. Within a few years they had managed to break out of their home country Australia and everything else they knew - and became known worldwide.
Over the next ten years they toured the world incessantly and released seven albums along the way. After that, their unique playing style, which fits together like individual puzzle pieces to form a whole, was repeatedly taken apart and reassembled in numerous collaborations with other important artists (Nick Cave, Cat Power, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, PJ Harvey, Nina Nastasia).
Over the past 20 years, Dirty Three have met every now and then, renewed their vows, revved up their engines and played a few shows or recorded an album - just like now - Dirty Three's ninth album.) 27.00

FIRE! - Testament LP (rune RESTOCK - Fire! have always been about finding the essence by getting to the core of the music. Their 8th album sees the trio - for the first time on record - stripped down to the bare-bones essentials; with no flutes, no electronics, no guests and no extras, recorded live in the studio to analogue tape - the Steve Albini way - with the master himself at the controls in Electrical Audio in Chicago. Thus, this album stands as a true testament to the group´s expressive power and glowing intimacy.) 32.00

GOBLYNS - Hunki Bobo LP (crazysane -  Channeling influences from Kikagaku Moyo, The Meters, Khruangbin, Budos Band, W.I.T.C.H. and CAN, “Hunki Bobo” crafts a musical tapestry that spans the spectrum from raw rock energy to the dreamy depths of psychedelia. Dive into the sonic realms of GOBLYNS! The 8-track album was recorded over a five day studio binge in sweltering July 2023, under the skilled direction of Andre Leo, known for his work with Medicine Boy and Wombed. The sessions took place at Junxt studios in Berlin, where the unique atmosphere undoubtedly contributed to the album’s distinct sound. The artistic vision behind the album cover came to life through the creative prowess of Julia Schimautz, who meticulously designed all the captivating artwork) 25.00

LINUS VANDEWOLKEN - Oude Geuze uit Niemandaal LP (more - As an American in Belgium, McCloud Zicmuse developed a deep love for some of the customs of his new-found homeland: a specific kind of archery (‘staande wip’), celebrating carnaval, aging geuze-beers, and not in the least: playing de ‘hommel”, the Flemish cousin of the apalachian Dulcimer. With the persona Linus Vandewolken, Zicmuse took a deep dive into these traditions. His love for the dulcimer is very real, yet he breaks out of the narrow framework in which the instrument is often handled. The additional use of homemade flutes, percussion instruments and some humming definitely add up to the experience. Zicmuse released a handful of tapes as Linus Vandewolken, and a double 10” on okraina records. But his musical curriculum is way longer than that. Under his own name, he did releases on ao Shelter press, with le ton mite on crammed discs, and contributed to a long, long list of releases by artists as diverse as Yume Bitsu, Maher Shalal Hash Basz or Singers. For this new opus, Linus Vandewolken provides some richly brewed compositions, with no added sugar or yeast. There is an elements of sourdough, the richness of earthy odors, the first song (Terugkeer van de Kudde) sounds like a smooth multi-tracked moment, but  is actually a live multi-instrumental piece: a home-made double reed xaulos is played sparingly along the fingerpicked strings of the home-made hommel. Like the barley in the beer, the hommel remains the main ingredient of the disc. Multiple techniques are used to unleash its voice, from tapping to bowing, to all at the same time. A compilation of travels, residencies, desires… songs have been harvested from 2019-2024 in France, Poland, Sweden, England, moments of Vandewolken’s wanderings, evoking inspirations & collaborations in unlikely spots, like a pump organ cameo of Christo Wallers in a village chapel a short distance from Hadrian’s Wall. As borders change and move, the flute comes around to sweetly catch our attention, metal lines from a letterpress shop invade the hommel strings creating distortions & unlikely rhythms. Points of silence like small bubbles rising in the glass of a freshly poured geuze, an old gueuze from Niemandaal, »Oude Geuze uit Niemanddaal«. ) 25.00

MIKA MIKO - chronicles Best Of LP (ppm - Mika Miko were a band from Los Angeles from 2003-2010 playing a mix of danceable, post punk and late 70's style power pop and street punk. Formed by sisters Jennifer and Jessie Clavin (who would later form Bleached) with high school friends Michelle Suarez, Jenna Thornhill and drummer Jon Erik Edrosa. After a 7" EP in 2004 (PPM) they signed to Kill Rock Stars in 2006 with new drummer Kate Hall to release "C.Y.S.L.A.B.F." which would see them tour throughout the US, Europe and Japan. Returning to PPM in 2007 to release their "666" EP, and their second and final LP (with another new drummer, Seth Densham) "We Be XUXA" in 2009, they disbanded in 2010. Mika Miko were highly influential and integral to the LA scene in the early and mid aughts surrounding the all ages club The Smell. This limited edition of 300, silk screened cover + poster LP is a "Best Of" compilation of their previous work compiled by the band.) 28.00

NATALIA BEYLIS - Mermaids LP (Nyah - 'It was a rainy day at the recycling centre in Leitrim. There, amongst the tangle of discarded kettles and broken down toasters, I first laid eyes on her: a CRB Elettronica Ancona - Model: Diamond 708 E Electric Keyboard. She waited, resolved to her fate of slowly oxidizing in the drizzle before being crumpled into the back of a lorry heading for the landfill. Or maybe, she waited, knowing I would come. I smuggled her into the back of my van and brought her home. For years, she sat untouched in the corner of my studio. Until one day when I finally plugged her in and she came alive with an unpredictable rattle. I took her apart and inside I found three broken purple crayons broken into nine pieces. With the crayons excavated, she sounded perfect. To me anyway. The sounds that come from her when I play always move me like water: swimming in rivers and floating in the murk beneath the surface. When I found the cover picture of the three figures in a stack of old family photos, a confluence of the sounds and the image charged through me and the album Mermaids began to flicker into being.' All songs written and performed by Natalia Beylis. ) 25.00

ONE LEG ONE EYE - .... And Take The Black Worm With Me LP (restock - 3rd pressing available now! Covers printed on reverse card on black vinyl. As a founding member of Dublin experimental folk group Lankum, Ian Lynch explores submerged leylines of music and song. Forging a musical path that is all at once dark, mysterious and foreboding, but ultimately transcendental. His new solo project One Leg One Eye sees him taking a fresh approach to musical arrangement culminating in a sound that is more rooted in the raw aesthetics of second wave black metal than contemporary folk. The project was born across 2021, a period in which Lynch was able to enjoy the freedom of experimenting and explorating different paths of sound design without expectation or pressure. Seeking out interesting settings to record music and gather field recordings, there are several environments, external and interior, whose respective essence have seeped into the spirit of the music and come to represent Lynch’s artistic approach and development with this singular debut album, …And Take The Black Worm With Me. Rediscovered spaces in Dublin and the familiar enclave of his bedroom are intrinsic to the distinct and sometimes harrowing atmosphere conjured throughout the album’s five enveloping compositions. One particular location, an abandoned factory where his father worked when Ian was a child, provided a space of great inspiration and intrigue during this time. Lynch frequently visited the large abandoned warehouse and sang with his shruti box, contented in his solitude. ‘I’d Rather Be Tending My Sheep’, grew into existence from those initial sessions, eventually finding a home as an emotive centrepiece to the album. Reflecting on the overall recording of …And Take The Black Worm With Me, Lynch says, “Everything I was doing with these songs was all kind of new to me; experimenting with different sounds, textures and palettes and seeing what I could come up with by piecing it all together. I spent about a year making the album. I loved the whole process because it was basically just me in my bedroom recording everything. The experience of recording like this and having my own time to do it was amazing. I could focus on recording a specific element and happily spend all day working on that one part, doing it as many times as I wanted. At the end of the day if it didn’t feel right, I could just try it again the next day. When you’re on your own you can spend as much time as you want on particular parts until you feel that it’s absolutely perfect. I found that to be a really liberating experience. It was probably my favourite experience recording music.” ) 26.00

PADDAN - Fluid Time LP (lovitt - Paddan's Sigtryggur Baldursson and Birgir Mogensen are lifelong friends from Kópavogur, Iceland, who started as mates on the local football team, then graduated to making music together as teenagers, and even later as young men doing time in the experimental punk collective KUKL, from 1983 - 1986. KUKL was populated by survivors of the post-punk scene in Iceland in the early 80s, which is well documented in the film Rock in Reykjavik from 1982. The band was released by the Crass collective in London and featured members, apart from Birgir and Sigtryggur, like Guðlaugur Óttarsson, Einar Melax, Björk and Einar Örn, some of whom would become better known later in outfits like the Sugarcubes and their respective solo work and other collaborations. Sigtryggur has a long career in music, having worked with among others, Emiliana Torrini, Howie B, Les Negresses Vertes, Tomas R. Einarsson, Petur Ben, KK, Kaktus Einarsson, and many many others. He also produces an award-winning documentary music show for RUV called Hljómskálinn.) 28.00

RAIL BAND - s/t LP (mississippi - One of the greatest, heaviest, and most sought-after guitar records from 1970s West Africa, available on vinyl for the first time in over a decade!!! Bamako, Mali, 1973: Rail Band, the official orchestra of the Malian state railway, drops their self-titled LP. It's a relentlessly soulful and hypnotic blend of American funk, jazz horns, and Afro-Cuban music, reflected through centuries-old Mandé tradition and blasted at top volume by some of the continent's greatest artists. Led by legendary trumpet and saxman Tidiani Koné and held aloft by the intricate web of Djelimady Tounkara's rumbling, reverb-soaked guitar, Rail Band's sprawling compositions embody West African storytelling traditions while exulting in the technology and modernity of a newly independent Mali. Vocalists Salif Keita and Mory Kanté, two heroes of African music who would achieve global fame as soloists, are endlessly emotive, oscillating between silky ballads and funk screams. The band's sound is filled out by layers of percussion, rolling guitars, and melodic horns filtered through the Caribbean. Starting in 1970, Rail Band played five nights a week, from 2 pm til the early hours, at the Buffet Hotel de la Gare. Their audience was an international array of businessmen, young partiers, and people of the Bamako night. The band was incredibly versatile, switching genres, rhythms, and styles to meet their crowd. It was a volatile mix, one that would fall apart soon after these recordings were made, with Salif Keita's departure to start the rival Les Ambassadeurs. Though Rail Band continued in many distinguished forms, the eight songs on this album reveal one of the greatest bands to ever exist, at the height of their creative powers.) 27.00

SHUDDER TO THINK - 1987 LP (lg records - A band with many chapters and an everchanging sound, Shudder To Think’s story began in 1986 in Glover Park, Washington DC. Bass player Stuart Hill and drummer Mike Russell had just recruited Chris Matthews to play guitar in their fledgling hardcore band Stüge (1984-86) when they suddenly found themselves in need of a new singer as well. Matthews suggested his friend Craig Wedren for the role. At the audition, Wedren’s style clashed with the style of the band’s previous singer, but the group all sensed that they might have stumbled into a “chocolate-in-my-peanut-butter” situation with intriguing potential. The group changed their name and headed into new territory. Side A of this LP is comprised of five songs from one of their first recording sessions together. The tracks chosen are songs that were only released on demo tapes, never to be re-recorded for future proper releases (this version of “Too Little, Too Late” did appear on the local punk compilation FR-5 in 1987). Side B consists of four tracks that were originally released as their first 7-inch release, the It Was Arson EP, a split release by Sammich/Dischord Records. Included at the end of side B is a version of “Take The Child” from this session (later re-recorded for their first album in 1988).) 30.00

SHELLAC - To All Trains LP (touch and go - Shellac's sixth studio album "To All Trains" consists of 10 songs and has a total playing time of 28 minutes. The band is still: Steve Albini (guitar), Todd Trainier (drums) and Bob Weston (bass). "To All Trains" was recorded and mixed at Electrical Audio in Chicago over a few long weekends in November 2017, October 2019, September 2021 and March 2022. The album was mastered by Bob & Steve at Chicago Mastering Service. The artwork and packaging of the LP and CD are identical (the CD is smaller). Bob took all the photos, some with a fancy camera and some with a phone. As always, sound quality is Shellac's top priority. The LPs are manufactured by Green Vinyl Records using an injection molding process. This new process uses 100% recyclable PET (like soda bottles) and is environmentally friendly as it contains no PVC or phthalates. The process also uses 79% less CO2 than traditional hydraulic PVC vinyl presses. The records weigh 180 grams. As with Shellac, there will be no advertising for this album, no press or radio promotion, no e-promotion, no promotional or review copies, no promotional gimmicks, and no free lunches. The band will continue to play shows or go on tour sporadically and casually, as they always have. There is no correlation between shows and record releases with Shellac. Shellac do not have a website. Maybe they should get one.) 35.00

SKULLFLOWER - Lost Shot in Heaven LP (First vinyl pressing of the long out of print 1993 classic many consider not only Skullflower's apex, but one of the finest noise rock records of the 90's. Edition of 600 clear smoke 2xLP in deluxe embossed sleeve.) 46.00

TONY CONRAD & JENNIFER WALSHE - In The Merry Month Of May LP (blue - In the Merry Month of May is the final studio recording of the late, great Tony Conrad, and the first duo release with Jennifer Walshe, one of Conrad"s most important collaborators in the final decade of his life. A wild, improvisatory flaying of song; the sheer sonic force recalls the ecstatic charge of Conrad"s Slapping Pythagoras, with Walshe"s clarion voice at the heart of it. A one-of-a-kind concoction whipped up by two fearless and often peerless souls. It"s a joy to hear their manifest mutual regard and commitment to busting a gut.) 35.00

UNCLE ACID & THE DEATBEATS - Nell' Ora Blu DLP (rise above — Sixth studio album and undoubtedly the most radical to date from the British psychedelic and doom band. 'Nell' Ora Blu' stands out from the sterile rock'n'roll desert of 2024 like a blood-soaked beacon. An epic homage to Italian crime cinema of the late 60s/early 70s. Includes exclusive guest appearances by top stars of the Italian giallo and poliziotteschi film genres, including Franco Nero and Edwige Fenech. What this dazzling detour tells us about the future of Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats remains a mystery, but Nell' Ora Blu is an eccentric tour de force from the band. An aural continuation of Italian cult soundtracks, music for dreams and last but not least... nightmares.) 40.00

UNWOUND - A Single History: 1991-1997 DLP (numero - An expanded and remastered 25th anniversary edition of the mythical Olympia, WA, trio's out-of-print singles and compilation tracks, "A Single History 1991-2001" gathers odds and ends from across Unwound's first decade. From their earliest post-hardcore squeals on "Crab Nebula" to the dub-inspired death march of "Behold The Salt," this 23-track 2xLP fills in the distorted gaps of their initial, seven-album run.) 40.00

Written by DAVID ANDERSSON — a member of the scene as a singer in IDENTITY and zine maker of BUBBEL-BAD — with a foreword by legendary NAPALM DEATH singer LEE DORRIAN, who toured Sweden at the time, and was one of the few promoters to bring the Swedish råpunk bands to the UK.
