Ryan Beck is Suspect an electronic musician who has former ties in Iowa City and now resides in Chicago. Suspect has a very refined sound for a new project just starting to push its music into the world. Faux Empath isn’t a bumpy ride but a smooth concourse that moves through a sonic space inhabited by an almost limitless supply of shifting sounds phasing in and out of themselves and the larger journey of a particular track. Suspect in a sonic way explores relationships between human consciousness and technology and how those things evolve together along with other minds and information pathways connected by technology. The music represents these ideas well offering a recording that continues to open up new listening experiences on repeat listens.
