A magnificent fourth album from the Wiesbaden/Leipzig-based band RADARE. *Der Endless Dream* once again charts a brilliant course somewhere between Lynchian film scores and the sound of Bohren & der Club of Gore.
The band RADARE (formerly known as ACTRESS) is no stranger to underground and DIY circles. They have previously released two albums, though those leaned significantly harder—moving in the direction of technical hardcore. Four years have passed between their last album, *Im Argen*, and their current work, *Der Endless Dream*. Unlike their self-produced predecessor, the band recorded this album with Lari Eiden at Lunar City Studio in Darmstadt. The result of this collaboration is a soundscape of varying shades of gray, defined by synthetic drones, gentle horns, and hypnotic Western-style guitars. *Der Endless Dream* explores the twists and turns of youthful longing through a series of cinematic vignettes; true to the band's tradition, it serves as the soundtrack to a mystery film playing out in the listener's imagination. Drawing influence from the repetitive compositions of Slint, the heavy melancholy of Bohren & der Club of Gore, and the yearning quality of Talk Talk’s later work, RADARE have evolved their sound on *Der Endless Dream* through the use of experimental guitars and synthesizers. The lineup—featuring Fabian Bremer (guitars, synthesizers), Henrik Eichmann (drums, clarinet), and Jobst M. Feit (guitars, synthesizers)—is rounded out by Dominik Fink. Fink replaced longtime bassist Matthias Jurisch in late 2017 and adds a new tonal dimension to the mix with his tenor saxophone. 'Der Endless Dream' was mastered by Harris Newman (Timber Timbre, Arcade Fire).
