Pavement's success, with their sold-out reunion tour, gold records, and most recently, the critically acclaimed film "Pavements," is a testament to their enduring legacy, which continues to influence young, up-and-coming bands. Although they became one of the most influential American indie rock bands during their initial period from 1989 to 1999, they never achieved the mainstream success of other bands of that era. However, their lo-fi style and often ironic, abstract lyrics have cultivated a loyal fanbase. Just how strangely groundbreaking this wonderfully quirky and playful band is was recently brought home to cinemas once again by the film "Pavements," whose soundtrack is now being released on vinyl and CD. The soundtrack, compiled by Pavement producer/editor Robert Greene and the band themselves, brings together disparate elements from the film. This includes dialogue excerpts, scenes from the fictional Oscar-nominated biopic "Range Life," and footage of the cast from the jukebox musical "Slanted! Enchanted!". All of this is complemented by live and rehearsal recordings from the group's 2021 reunion tour. The recordings of the full band were mixed by Bryce Goggin, who previously worked on the Pavement classics "Crooked Rain Crooked Rain," "Wowee Zowee," and "Brighten the Corners."
