Irish songwriter and electronic pop merchant Patrick Kelleher returns with a new 7" fronted by the ace '80s DIY synth-pop stylings of 'Contact Sports', which comes draped in gated reverb and period electric piano sounds. It's mercilessly retro and painfully zeitgeisty, but when its pulled off this well, such considerations are but trifles. The remix on the B-side comes from Alalal, renowned for production work with The Big Pink, Klaxons and The Rapture. This brings the track back into the 21st century with thumping club-friendly beats and hefty bass frequencies.
