After the release of their first 7" single in 2006, Pas Chic Chic quickly gained a reputation as one of Canada's brightest new acts. Debut album Au Contraire was released in Canada on the fiftieth anniversary of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, created for the purpose of experimenting with electronics to create new forms of music. Pas Chic Chic continues the legacy where the BBC left off with their latest offering in the form of a two-song, 12" EP. The eight-minute "Allez Vous Faire Influencer" and its motorik rhythm is a gracious nod to Neu!, while the sixteen-minute epic "Premier Souffle" explores the confines of electronic rock, building on the legacy of 1970s underground German and French artists such as Harmonia, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Heldon, and Lard Free. This is pop music with one foot in the past and the other way in the distant future.
