Originally released in 1973, "Paris 1919" was Cale's 4th solo album after leaving the Velvet Underground. Hyper-literary numbers filled with political intrigue and shady characters, loosely based on the Versailles Conference, to which the album title also alludes. Recorded with the help of Lowell George and Richie Hayward of southern rockers Little Feat and the UCLA Symphony Orchestra.
