Following the release of 'POPtical Illusion' earlier this year, John Cale announces the re-release of his classic album 'The Academy in Peril'!
The album has been remastered by Heba Kadry and is the first Cale artist authorized reissue of the popular album. "The Academy in Peril" includes the bonus track "Temper".
"Revisiting works from the past is a double-edged sword for me. Of course, that's inevitable when you've been making music for 60 years or so. What's special about this process at Domino is that they want to do it right. It's not about reissuing something just for an anniversary or collecting a catalog favorite, it's about finding new treasures and highlighting what made them special in the first place. After hearing the test pressings, it occurred to me that the new mastering is an essential part of presenting these works, rather than simply preserving them. There are moments of clarity and even the odd laugh when reviewing not only the music but the sessions (and antics) that gave rise to these two recordings.
