Himukalt is the project of Las Vegas artist Ester Kärkkäinen, whose power electronics work confronts personal trauma through crude programming, shrill feedback, disjointed rhythms and harsh noise.
Torn Asunder: The Half Girl documents the anger, horror and depression following the end of a sexless relationship. Kärkkäinen moves between deadpan declarations and barked sermons, laying bare a psyche in collapse amid heavy industrial electronics and abrasive sound.
Originally issued as part of Helen Scarsdale’s On Corrosion box set, this rare document is among Himukalt’s most uncompromising recordings. Its reappearance closes the label’s reissue campaign for the series.
