Once a year, GOAT must show us the way - the self-titled new album in October 2024! The Ouroborus - that is, the symbol of the snake or dragon eating its own tail - appears to some as an expression of the brutality of nature. For others, who are gnostic, it symbolizes the duality of the divine and the earthly in man. Most often, however, it is simply understood as a symbol of the endless cycles of death and rebirth that characterize life on this planet. In the world of Goat, the mysterious and ever-reinvigorating collective that is experiencing another adventure beyond this plane of reality with its latest album, this image is of great importance: the band, which has already released albums entitled Requiem and Oh Death, proves once again with their eponymous album that transcendence and metamorphosis are their leitmotifs. With Goat, the ever-unpredictable band conjure rhythm-driven rituals in a distinctive, uplifting and dazzling style that can enliven the dancefloor as well as the mind. 'One More Death' and 'Goatbrain' are spectacular forerunners, embodying a hedonistic spirit fuelled by incisive funk and possessed by relentless fuzz/wah-drenched guitar. Elsewhere, the band's love of hip-hop is the fuel for epic album closer 'Ourobourus', which combines infectious vocals with breathless Lalo Schifrin-style breakbeat action. And it also means that by the end, like the oldest allegorical symbol of alchemy, we're back where we started. As Brad Dourif's character Hazel Moates says in the 1979 film Wiseblood, 'Where you came from is no longer there; where you thought you were going never was.'
