SILVER VINYL

Legendary hip-hop pioneer DJ Muggs and frequent David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley co-wrote and produced the original soundtrack to the feature film "Divinity," premiering at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Divinity is a dystopian science fiction odyssey produced by Steven Soderbergh and directed by visionary director Eddie Alcazar. The interaction of DJ Muggs and Dean Hurley creates a soundtrack that turns "Divinity" into a multidimensional experience beyond the screen and invites the listener to an unforgettable sound odyssey on unknown terrain. Amidst the film's extraordinary aesthetics and subject matter, the film's music is a ten-ton barbell of sound weights. Using 8-bit samplers, Wavestation synthesizers, advanced choral and string techniques, the soundtrack manages to oscillate wildly between the arenas of music and sound design. A sound experience that captures and reproduces the same intensity as the film. Tracks like “The Brothers” and “Reflective Dreams” overflow with Vangelis-esque tones, painting broad strokes of cinematic grandeur and ethereal wonder. "Main Titles" and "Infinity Techno", however, soar into relentless, punishing sounds, with brutal, pulsating energy that represents the twisted, relentless pursuit of immortality. A standout track on the album is undoubtedly “Divinity 2 Infinity: The Odyssey” featuring cult hip-hop legend Kool Keith. The song was written specifically for the film and is a successful reminiscence of the end credit songs of the 90s, which were tailored to the themes of the respective film.
