Some Like It Hot – that's not only the name of the legendary 1959 Hollywood film, but also the new album by London trio bar italia. Like the original, it sparkles with romance, intrigue, and self-discovery – sometimes in the guise of passionate rock anthems, sometimes as beguiling folk-pop or a reeling ballad, interspersed with sudden moments that flash out of nowhere like sunlight. Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi, and Sam Fenton contribute three distinctive voices and personalities that interweave into an intense whole. The band explores contrasts – between tenderness and ecstasy, intimacy and outburst – and transforms their idiosyncrasies into anthemic choruses. Songs like the electrifying "omni shambles," the new wave majesty of "Lioness," and the passionate "rooster" demonstrate a group eager to conquer the big stage. After two acclaimed albums in 2023 and over 160 concerts worldwide—from Istanbul to Tokyo, from Glastonbury to Coachella—bar italia now presents itself as an expressive, confident live band, moving effortlessly between festival mosh pits and moments of breathless silence. Some Like It Hot is the essence of this journey: an album that captures the heart, mind, and stage alike.
