Inspiravit Lux (Lat. "I breathed light") explores the perception of light intensities as a counterpart to one's own inner world. Luminous intensity is measured in lux (abbreviated as lx), which is why the individual solo guitar pieces are named after lx values. The higher the number, the more intense the experience. For the guitarist and composer, intensity in his own guitar pieces is not a matter of loud or soft, but rather an experience of the depth and strength of what is felt. Therefore, a quiet piece can develop enormous power and brightness, just as a loud one can convey silent despair.
Moeckl has captured these emotions in 14 mystical, melancholic, and often deeply reflective solo guitar tracks. To capture the subtle nuances of his life, the fingerstyle specialist plays exclusively in open tunings. This enables him to blend very special timbres and paint a multi-layered picture with them.
inspiravit Lux is an intense and highly intimate album. Recorded entirely alone, far away from everyday life, it feels close and direct. And yes, you can even hear him breathe during the very quietest moments….
