3xLP box set with the remastered 4AD albums Fetisch and Tocsin and the EPs Incubus Succubus II and Qual. It's an incredible impression that Xmal Deutschland made not only on their local audiences, but also on their British audiences in the early 1980s. They were captivated by the sudden staccato rhythms, the mysterious (read: German) language, and the power and vision of the musicians involved. Forty years later, on May 9, 2025 to be precise, "Gift: The 4AD Years" is now being released, with which the London label revives the years 1983/1984. The 3xLP combines the feverish "Fetisch," the powerful "Tocsin," and the corresponding EP tracks into a whole that pulsates with energy and poise. Also included are the band's classics "Incubus Succubus II" and "Qual." The cover artwork, featuring photography by Peter Schulte, was designed based on 23 original envelope works by Timothy O'Donnell. It accompanies the original sleeve photographs by Nigel Grierson. There's also a photo book with images by Kevin Cummins, Paul Slattery, Sheila Rock, and others, as well as text by Chris Roberts. "Gift: The 4AD Years" will be released on May 9th digitally, on a double CD, as a 3xLP on transparent red vinyl, and exclusively in Germany on crystal clear vinyl.
