First announced on Cranes Records during the Spring of 2020 in the form of the Wraiths 12” single, Where You Are follows up with an eponymous LP: nine chapters that let bleed an addictive brooding, summoning the noise-textured spirits of Bedhead, Unwound or Engine Down, as well as an embrace of melody and soaring dynamics.
The immediacy of the band’s production leaves space for lyrics that touch in a detached way on solitude, mourning and longing. But projected onto a fractured, cryptic timeline they challenge definition - confession or broken fiction?
The waters of the lake are further rippled by the inclusion of an extended narrative text and a reproduction lost reel of Super 8 film. Somewhere between River’s Edge and Last Days, tales of teenage wilderness and impossible futures, Where You Are’s songs aim to reconcile us with the notion that the times we have are the celebration of the memories they leave us with - they are always the last times.
