Sometimes it's really quite simple: three friends, two voices, guitar, bass, and drums, a solid socialization in the punk, hardcore, and 90s emo scenes, and a semi-secret fondness for catchy pop tunes—that's all it takes for an album that, despite all its apparent contradictions, forms a convincing whole. Leaves have risen from the ashes of the legendary Idle Class, and their formula already proved successful with their self-titled debut EP in 2021. With their debut album, "Most of Our Days," however, Leaves from Münster have raised the bar even higher. Eight songs, each standing on its own, yet sounding like a cohesive whole. What remains is their knack for melodies that are both persistent and catchy, their personal lyrics of the "melancholy without pathos" variety, their courage to embrace the occasional quiet moment, and their call-and-response vocals, which here aren't just a gimmick but ensure that every single chorus truly matters. New, however, are the driving and significantly more playful drums, which ensure that the songs no longer "only" go into the head, heart and fists, but now also into the leg.
