When it comes to dub, there is no getting around Mr. Sherwood. That this master producer and mixologist is in top form is evident not only in the numerous projects and collaborations he has spearheaded but—finally—in a new solo album, his first in 13 years and the fourth of his long career. With his characteristically experimental sound, he pushes new boundaries here. While dub remains the common denominator, he flirts with the music of various regions, post-punk, and a wide array of other influences; the blues, for instance, proves to be a recurring companion on this instrumental album. Connections to past projects like Little Axe or Tackhead can certainly be drawn. As is often the case with Adrian, the "dub devil" lies in the brilliant details. The recordings feature several of his long-time collaborators, such as Doug Wimbish (Living Colour, The Sugarhill Gang, Tackhead), Mark Bandola (The Lucy Show), Ivan "Celloman" Hussey, Alex White (Primal Scream, Fat White Family), and Chris Joyce (The Mothmen). Furthermore, the album incorporates contributions from the late On-U legends Keith LeBlanc (Sugarhill Gang, Tackhead) and Mark Stewart (The Pop Group).
