The Slovenian trio Sirom returns with their fifth album, presenting a work both sonically and thematically far-reaching. In the Wind of Night... follows on from the acclaimed The Liquified Throne of Simplicity (2022), but breaks new ground: more melodic, more accessible, without losing the hypnotic depth and rhythmic complexity that characterize Sirom. Ana Kravanja, Iztok Koren, and Samo Kutin interweave folkloric motifs, dissonant textures, and ritual soundscapes on extra-long tracks. They utilize nearly two dozen acoustic instruments—many of them self-built—to create music that defies categorization. The pieces seem like sonic journeys through imaginary landscapes, sometimes dense and trance-like, sometimes airy and clearly structured. The album was recorded live and reflects the band's collective working method. Sirom remain uncompromisingly independent and are today one of the most exciting voices in the European avant-folk scene.
