Following the album 'When we were that what wept from the sea', which won the JUNO Award last year, 'The love it took to leave you' contains eleven new pieces full of emotional music.
The album was recorded during a week in 2023 at the Darling Foundry, a 144-year-old former metal factory in Montréal that still retains its raw architecture of brick, concrete and steel. From the first piece of the album, Stetson embarks on a carefully balanced journey through intense realms, interspersed with tragic melodies that strive for transcendence, epic and wild shredding and many shades of chilling beauty, betrayal and redemption.
This is the art of storytelling, instrumentally implemented.
'The love it took to leave you' is a perfect storm of technical, musical and compositional complexity and power.
