In 2016, Xiu Xiu released—with the blessing of David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti—the album and concert project *Plays The Music Of Twin Peaks*, which they also toured. Following David Lynch's untimely death, they received numerous requests to revive their interpretation of this iconic music. Instead, however, Xiu Xiu are delving even deeper. *Eraserhead Xiu Xiu* is a new live concert experience comprising film and album. Through the use of field recordings, custom-built instruments, organ, modular synths, vocals, flashlights, electrical noise, and *musique concrète*, Xiu Xiu give expression to the bizarre emotionality, conflicting sexuality, relentless gloom, and desolate lunar landscape of what is arguably the most incredible of all midnight movie masterpieces. The album itself is a masterpiece of sound collage and experimentation, where minimalist auditory sensations transform into a massive, grotesque cacophony, ultimately concluding with a beautiful rendition of Peter Ivers' original *Eraserhead* score. Guided by the original sound design of Alan Splet and David Lynch, the project reflects the duo's influence on the band—both as fans and as musicians. The original film serves as the starting point for Xiu Xiu’s visual perspective, prompting the question: Is it an art installation? A deconstructed homage to a cult classic? An epitaph for an idol? Is it intense, peculiar, curious, and shrouded in the blackest of nights? Naturally. After all, it is *Eraserhead*.
