BILL FAY / MARY LATTIMORE - Love Is The Tune 7“ (Dead Oceans has announced the re-issue of Bill Fay's Still Some Light, a double compilation album made up of 70s album demos and 2009 home recordings. Released in two parts, pressed on vinyl and out digitally for the first time. Alongside, Dead Oceans has announced plans of a special series of four 7" singles, consisting of different musicians' interpretations of Bill Fay classics. Number three ( a cover of `Just To Be A Part' by Julia Jacklin) and the fourth, Mary Lattimore's version of `Love Is The Tune') will also be released 6th May, 2022.) 13.00
RUDIMENTARY PENI - Rudimentary Peni 7“ (sealed - Reissue of Rudimentary Peni’s stunning debut 12-song 7”. Recorded in 1981 at Street Level Studios and originally released on their own Outer Himalayan label. From the first track Rudimentary Peni pull you in and aurally assault your ears. It’s abrasive, sharp with supreme musicianship. They created a perfect, demented universe of twisted, poetic and needle in the red punk that has never been bettered. This reissue comes with a fold out replica sleeve with the iconic Blinko foetus artwork and booklet. Remastered from original tapes by Arthur Rizk.) 10.00
SILENT ERA - s/t 7“ (doomtown - After a demo tape, here comes Silent Era's debut vinyl release. Upbeat, fast and moody political punk from the Bay Area with members of Deskonocidos, Neon Piss, The New Flesh, Criaturas and more. Here at Doomtown Records headquarters, Silent Era's music heavily reminds us of the late eighties sound we really dig and that is melodic side of UK hardcore and greats such as HDQ, Sofa Head and Instigators, as well as bands like Poland's Post Regiment. Their approach for writing songs is definitely too fast to be called post-punk, but the chorus laden guitars and dark, melodic vocals could appeal to fans of that particular genre, whilst it's also too melodic to be filed under straight up hardcore punk. ) 6.00
STRAWBERRY SWITCHBLADE - 4-Piece Demo 7" (light pink vinyl) (night school - 1982 4-Piece Demo is the first official, fully-licensed and unreleased material to be released under the name Strawberry Switchblade in 30 years. Since disbanding amid major record label acrimony and personal differences in 1986, the already-cult band have since grown in stature and legend. Trailblazers in many ways, the band’s mythology justifiably centers around the charismatic duo of Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall, but that isn’t a complete picture. Bryson and McDowall’s growing friendship, having met some years earlier on the punk scene, became a creative partnership: Bryson’s art school background and McDowall’s history in avant-punk group The Poets meant Strawberry Switchblade was a band pitted against many established norms. The band’s very first incarnation, an all-female 4 piece, recorded one demo at Glasgow’s Hellfire Club and played a handful of gigs. Friends Janice Goodlett and Carole McGowan completed the line up on bass and drums respectively. Strawberry Switchblade would eventually pair down to a duo and go on to chart success but it’s in these raw, passionate recordings that the songwriting and vocal elements were being hammered out and explored in real time.) 15.00
WILLIAM LOVEDAY INTENTION - I'm Good For You 2x7“ (damaged goods - Brand new double 7" by The William Loveday Intention! As part of an incredibly productive year by one of the world's most productive and cherished artists, Billy Childish releases a new EP by The William Loveday Intention as part of his attempt at "a career in a year". "Four tracks that address the game of being a human being." 'I'm Good Enough' is a fresh look at Thee Headcoats' classic. 'Failure not Success' speaks for itself - and embodies the quest for un-muddied art. 'Becoming Unbecoming Me' is the story of a Jewish girl in Austria who changed her identity and married a Nazi to escape the death camps. 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' is our version of Bob Dylan's version of 'Too Much Monkey Business' by Chuck Berry.“) 18.00

AMENRA / CAVE IN / MARISSA NADLER - Songs Of Townes Van Zandt Vol. III LP (back in stock - My Proud Mountain is thrilled to announce Songs of Townes Van Zandt III, continuing the tradition of well-known artists in the heavy music and dark genres covering the songs of Townes Van Zandt. The LP features nine new and unique covers by Amenra, Cave In, and Marissa Nadler. Opener “Quicksilver Dreams of Maria” paints Nadler as a pastoral daydream of mournful siren vocals, embodying the lovelorn and lustful side of Van Zandt some listeners tend to overlook. “I wanted to shine a light on some of Townes Van Zandt’s lesser known, but equally excellent songs from his vast body of work,” says Nadler. “His deeply romantic lyrical tendencies are intricately displayed on the three songs that I chose, as well as the pervasive loneliness and deep-seated sadness, always waiting right outside the door.”) 25.00
BILL FAY - Still Some Light / Part 1 / Piano, Guitar, Bass & Drums DLP (dead oceans - Still Some Light Part 1, collecting Fay’s archival recordings from 1970 and 1971. Many of the songs are intimate sketches which were eventually re-recorded for Fay’s self-titled debut and for his landmark album, Time of the Last Persecution. This set includes heart wrenching versions of some of his timeless works, such as I Hear You Calling and Pictures of Adolf Again, and features equally powerful songs like Arnold is a Simple Man and Love is the Tune, which only appear in this collection.) 34.00
BILL FAY - Still Some Light: Part 2 I Home Recordings DLP (Bill Fay has always sung about attempting to understand themost universal questions: those of nature, spirituality, humanity. His songs are "calming hymns for another chaotic time", he says. His influence can be traced through many artist's work, and so it only seemed right to celebrate this with a collection of newer voices interpreting his timeless tracks. Originally released in 2010 by David Tibet (Current 93), Still Some Light was released as a double CD, made up of 70's album demos (Disc One) and 2009 home recordings (Disc Two). This year, for the first time, this collection of recordings will be pressed to vinyl and released digitally, presented alongside contemporary reimaginings of the tracks by Kevin Morby, Steve Gunn, Julia Jacklin and…) 34.00
BRONZE - Absolute Compliance LP (We here at Castle Face dig a good trance. Hypnosis, mesmerization, and brain trickery are some of our favorite results of deep listening and it is a suggestive, ritualistic and dreamlike vibe that Bronze ooze like pheromones all over their excellent new record. Absolute Compliance is a truly hypnogogic group of tunes from Bronze on their best and weirdest behavior and it hits all my favorite things about them immediately and repeatedly: Insistently strange synth voicings emanating from Miles Friction's mad scientists lab worth of equipment controlled by a homemade-looking oversized knob; Brian Hock’s throbbing, woolly, hall of mirror grooves; and above it all Rob Spector’s thousand yard croon the vaguely familiar touchstone amongst the Lynchian, mutated surroundings…these are songs of dreams and nightmares, hidden rituals observed, futuristic coliseum entertainments displaced in time, sci fi jams of an uncertain future. Bronze are one-of-a kind great and if you’re unfamiliar you should go find their other records (including their great live record for us) and get caught up. They are real-deal weirdo kings of San Francisco and their spell is not easily dissipated once cast.) 24.00
CARAMBOLAGE - s/t LP (With the first demo tapes in circulation, Burkhardt » Zensor« Seiler organized a gig for Carambolage in the hip Kreuzberg club SO36. At a time when anything that could be labelled »Neuen Deutschen Welle« (German New Wave) was stamped accordingly, the trio played by their own rules. The eponymous debut album Carambolage, produced by Rio Reiser and R.P.S. Lanrue in the summer of 1980 and released on the Scherben label David Volksmund Produktion, could not be constrained by NDW marketing concepts. Instead, the disc was defined by its »colossal, inventive sound« which fed on Elfie‘s curiously autodidactic »Fantasiegriffen« guitar style and her »Fresenhagen sparrow« voice, counter-balanced by Angie’s organ and inimitable basslines and energized by Britta’s relentless drumming. ) 25.00
CAROLINE NO - s/t LP (grapefruit -Caroline No’s 3rd album was built around a set of songs I was writing in the summer of 2019. I built the songs around real events, but looped these narratives into stories from song histories. The result is like an intersection of Brill building characters such as Carole King and Neil Sedaka with the bedroom fanaticism of historical music projects like Virgin Insanity. After a year of playing the songs live in various formations, we aimed to record in the Australian summer. We knew Jim was going to be in Melbourne, and soon after he arrived in Australia, we met at Mick’s studio. Nick and Mick engineered, with Ian on bass, Jim on drums, Mick, Dee and me on guitars, and Dee and me singing. The sense of intuitive knowledge and performance was exhilarating as we played. We spent two days in the studio, and when we listened back later, it seemed a compelling representation of what had happened, captured live.

CLAIRE ROUSAY - Everything Perfect Is Already Here LP (shelter press - When words trail off at the beginning of claire rousay’s “everything perfect is already here,” ornate instrumentation is waiting to fill a void left by the breakdown of language. Yet it becomes clear as we trace rousay’s collaged sonic pathway that breakdown, of meaning and also of melody, is also a place to rest. everything perfect… is made up of two extended compositions that cycle between familiarity and unknowing. There are seemingly infinite ways to feel in response to these pieces of music, which shift tone across their languid duration, earnest like a familiar song but unbound from the emotional didacticisms of lyrical voice and pop form. Rousay builds a fluid landscape around the acoustic contributions of Alex Cunningham (violin), Mari Maurice (electronics and violin), Marilu Donovan (harp), and Theodore Cale Schafer (piano), whose respective melodies weave gently in and out, sometimes steady, sometimes aching, sometimes receding altogether in deference to less overtly musical sounds. That is, percussive texture in the form of unvarnished samples and field recordings: the rattle and rustle and the stops and starts of life unfurling, voices sharing memories nearly out of reach, doors closing, wind against a microphone. Everything comes from somewhere in particular, possessing the veneer of the diaristic, but sound’s provenance is secondary here and so these details become tangled and fused. On this release I hear such details not as individual ornaments or stories but the collective architecture of the greater composition. It’s an architecture that is not quite formed and thus full of openings out to the world unfolding. ) 29.00
CLARICE JENSEN - Drone Studies LP (Vaagner - Clarice Jensen is a composer and cellist based in Brooklyn, NYC. As a versatile collaborator, Jensen has recorded and performed with Jóhann Jóhannsson, Stars of the Lid, Owen Pallett, Max Richter and numerous others. As the artistic director of ACME (the American Contemporary Music Ensemble), brought to life some of the most cherished works of modern classical music, including pieces by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Gavin Bryars, Dustin O’Halloran, and more. Jensen now follows her debut album 'For This From That Will Be Filled' with 'Drone Studies,' highlighting Jensen’s improvisational prowess, venturing even deeper into the meditative mire but with more organic, naturally expressive air. ) 24.00
COIL - Musick To Play In The Dark² DLP (dais - Originally released in 2000, Coil’s ‘Musick To Play In The Dark Vol. 2’ was inspired by John Balance and Peter Christopherson’s relocation from London to the seaside town of Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset. The second of two incredible records spawned by the same prolific sessions, it’s one of the experimental veterans’ most acclaimed late-period albums.) 33.00
DÄLEK - Precipice DLP (silver vinyl) (Forged in the fires of the East Coast underground music scene in the 90s, experimental Hip Hop pioneers, Union City, NJ-based duo Dälek has spent decades carving out a unique niche fusing hardcore Hip Hop, noise and a radical approach to sound. Their brutal sonic temperament pushes rap music’s capacity for noise and protest to some exhilarating conclusions. For their latest and eighth album, Precipice, Dälek unleashes a work that is practically bristling with fury and power. Predominantly the work of the core duo, Will Brooks, aka MC Dälek and Mike Manteca (Mike Mare), Precipice features a guest appearance of Adam Jones of Tool. The striking cover art was done by Paul Romano (Mastodon), and the packaging features the art of Mikel Elam.) 35.00
DAWN PENN - No No No / Creator Version 12“ (soul jazz records - Stone-cold classic - the ultimate Studio One tune and the ultimate rhythm & blues/soul to reggae cut as Dawn Penn vamps on Bo Diddley, Willie Cobbs. Floor-shaking, speakerbusting SEMINAL tune! The original Studio One CLASSIC Dawn Penn's soaring hypnotic vocal cut 'No, No, No' first time ever on 12"! Super loud and with a killer dub version on the flip!) 20.00
DELIA MESHLIR - Calling The Unknown LP (ba da bing - Swiss musician Delia Meshlir didn’t realize what her voice could do when she started out playing music. Through such groups as the drudge-rock Cheyenne and experimental Primitive Trails, Meshlir let the music lead her singing along. It wasn’t until she began writing the songs for Calling The Unknown that she started allowing her vocals to preside. Unbounded by structure, Delia Meshlir’s first full-length under her name brings layers of beauty, intensity and strength, all coming to a head with her striking vocal delivery. Having acquired a stocking job at Irascible, a label based in Lausanne, Switzerland, dedicated to promoting local talent, Meshlir had the ideal launching point for her music. Now, in coordination with Irascible, Ba Da Bing will be releasing Calling The Unknown in North America. Meshlir lost her grandmother while preparing the album, and many of the tracks reflect seeking a path through grief with love. On “A River”, she explores where feelings can exist when they are for someone who has passed. She sings: “I’m calling the unknown / but no one remains.” As the first song on the album, it serves as a perfect introduction, with refined drumming, reverb-wrapped guitars and tasteful saxophone lines. At command of a full band, Meshlir never abuses the opportunity, often having members hold back in restraint and add mere touches of color to her songs. However, when more urgency is required, she adapts beautifully, as on the raw and driven track “Dirty Colors”. Ultimately, the album is an invitation to peace after suffering. Delia Meshlir is a trained visual artist who is creating her own videos and doing her own artwork for Calling The Unknown. It is a singular artistic work with stunning breadth.) 26.00
ERASERS - Constant Connection LP (night school - On their third album Constant Connection, West Australian-based Erasers create hypnotic compositions of synth, guitar and voice, evoking the vast expanse of their native landscape and the shrouded emotions behind the senses. Comprising of vocalist, synth player Rebecca Orchard and Rupert Thomas on guitar and synths, Erasers have developed their earthly kosmische music into an open language based on drone, variation in repetition and minimal song stuctures. Based in Perth, regarded one of the most isolated cities in the world, Orchard and Thomas’s music has brewed in the city’s vibrant DIY/Outsider community and evolved into a meditation on landscape, power, the shadow-world of human emotions and stream of consciousness. Constant Connection, with its waves of sound and chant-like vocals evokes a trance that suggests an infinity just beyond the senses.

GENERACION SUICIDA - Regeneracion LP (doomtown - Generacion Suicida from Los Angeles are returning with their first new album in four years and fifth album in total. The band is one of the most productive and hard working punk bees we've seen since the beginning of this millennium and we are yet again pleased to be part of their story with "Regeneracion". Recorded and mixed by Tony, bands guitarist and vocal, this album retains everything about their trademark sound so far and that is some proper raw, melodic and catchy punk rock sung in Spanish but this time with a splice of a post-punk swagger thrown in for a good measure, which is a logical progression and evolution from the sound from their last full-lenght records "Reflejos" and "Sombras". ) 15.00
JIMMY CARTER AND DALLAS COUNTY GREEN - Summer Brings the Sunshine LP (numero - DALLAS COUNTY GREEN VINYL! - Don’t let the postcard-generic cover art fool you, Summer Brings The Sunshine stands head and shoulders above nearly any major label country rock album crowding mid-'70s record bins. Next to the hundreds or even thousands of slick productions flowing out of Nashville and Los Angeles, Jimmy Carter scoured his rural Missouri surroundings for farmhands and semi-pros alike to lay down eight farm-isolated originals in 1977. Tasty female backing vocals, languid pedal steel, and feisty guitar licks abound on this exalted and near-peerless slice of Cosmic American Music.) 27.00
JORGE BEN - Bem Vinda Amizade LP (vampi soul - All-time classic Jorge Ben album recorded in 1981, strong from start to finish. - It combines dancefloor hits and downtempo soulful slow burners, comprising samba funk jams and irresistible boogie and disco tracks. Funky as Hell! - Very hard to find on vinyl these days, this reissue will make many collectors happy! - Details: Jorge Ben is someone who needs no introduction. Since his first hits in the 60s, this artist has become one of the greatest icons of Brazilian pop music. His anthems "Mais Que Nada" or "Pais Tropical" are probably two of the most ever-listened Brazilian songs of all time. After being involved in the Tropicalia movement and incorporating the influences of Afro-American funk into his repertoire, with the support of his backing band -Trio Mocotó-, his very personal samba sound also opened up to the new musical trends coming from the States at the edge of the 70s. Boogie and disco music were making headway and soon became popular in the Brazilian market. Jorge Ben's albums recorded at the beginning of the 80s reflect this trend and deliver a good number of outstanding tunes. "Bem-Vinda Amizade" is one of those albums. Recorded in 1981, it is a solid album, start to finish. It comprises the usual samba funk numbers, so characteristic of Jorge Ben, with killer boogie and disco tracks ('Oé Oé (Faz O Carro De Boi Na Estrada)', 'Ela Mora Em_'). And it also contains downtempo soulful slow burners like 'Lorraine' or 'Katarina, Katarina', funky as Hell! An essential addition to any Brazilian music collection.) 27.00
MARY LOU LORD - She'd Be A Diamond DLP (fire - A busking beauty; a career spanning double album delve into the street corner soul of the Kurt Cobain and Elliott Smith-approved crooner. A chunky power pop jangle, meets unravelling indie punk rawk as the lights change on Times Square. This new 2XLP collection includes her Kill Rock Star singles, compilation rarities, covers of The Bevis Frond, Pink Floyd, Dylan, Daniel Johnston, Lucinda Williams and East River Pipe among others.) 38.00
MY BLOODY VALENTINE - loveless LP (domino - Fully remastered version of my bloody valentine's 1991 classic, Loveless. Done by the man himself it is, as ever with MBV, difficult to work out where the myth ends and the truth begins. Kevin Shields claimed that listening to these new versions would "definitely" produce a different emotional effect from the originals. Listen through headphones on decent equipment and the subtle changes are apparent. But does 'different' mean better? You decide.) 35.00
NEXØ - False Flag LP (KINK - NEXØ are a highly energetic punk band from Copenhagen, Denmark. The four-piece unite the frantic drive of hardcore punk with heavy yet playful soundscapes, mirroring a world undergoing rapid and brutal change. The music is a raw fist of noise but always with a keen sense of melody. NEXO is sheer urgency and bottled up energy – something is at stake. Balancing on the edge of the stage, close to exploding, they bare their souls while keeping their footing, creating an experience that keeps resonating under the skin. The music has a clear and strong message delivered with frantic joy and teeth-clenching presence. It’s a goddamn cliché, but a show with NEXO is blood, sweat and tears blasted through an amplifier.) 15.00
SAVAK - Human Error/Human Delight LP (Ernest jenning - SAVAK is a Brooklyn-based post-punk band formed in 2015 by singers/guitarists/songwriters Sohrab Habibion and Michael Jaworski. Drummer Matt Schulz has been the other constant member over the course of 5 LPs, an EP, and multiple 7” singles. To round out their recordings and live performances, SAVAK has welcomed a variety of bass players and other musician-friends on horns, strings and keyboards. From the onset, Habibion and Jaworski’s intent has been to give each other space to bring in ideas and to support the other songwriter in the process. Setting aside any notion or formality of there being one “lead singer,” they’ve taken a shared approach, setting aside their egos for the benefit of the song. The band extends this ethos to everything it does, typically taking turns singing songs at shows and sharing an equal number of contributions to each recording.) 17.00
SHARON VAN ETTEN - We've Been Going About This All Wrong LP (Sharon Van Etten has always been the kind of artist who helps people make sense of the world around them, and her sixth album, We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong, concerns itself with how we feel, mourn, and reclaim our agency when we think the world - or at least, our world - might be falling apart. How do we protect the things most precious to us from destructive forces beyond our control? How do we salvage something worthwhile when it seems all is lost? And if we can’t, or we don’t, have we loved as well as we could in the meantime? Did we try hard enough? In considering these questions and her own vulnerability in the face of them, Van Etten creates a stunning meditation on how life’s changes can be both terrifying and transformative. We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong articulates the beauty and power that can be rescued from our wreckages. ) 25.00
STRAW MAN ARMY - SOS LP (la vida - New York’s Straw Man Army return with 'SOS', the follow-up to their 2020 debut LP, 'Age of Exile'. Emerging from the D4MT Labs group that also includes Kaleidoscope and Tower 7, Straw Man Army’s delicate musical touch, embrace of melody, and rapid-fire, clearly articulated vocals separate them from the louder and noisier end of New York’s fertile punk scene. While 'Age of Exile' examined the legacy of colonialism through the musical milieu of melodic anarcho-punk, 'SOS' turns its attention to the increasingly bleak prospects for the human race and planet earth. While Straw Man Army’s lyrical approach remains dense and thought provoking on 'SOS', their musical scope grows wider, encompassing 'Age of Exile’s' melodic take on anarcho, bleak and brooding post-punk, psychedelic instrumental excursions, and even the wistful pop of album highlight 'Beware'. 'SOS' is everything Straw Man Army’s fans could have hoped for in a follow-up and so much more, cementing the band’s status as one of the most original, exciting, and important groups in the contemporary punk underground (Daniel Lupton)) 20.00
THURSTON MOORE - Screen Time LP (southern lord - Screen Time is a series of instrumental guitar pieces recorded during the summer of 2021 as the world confronted the pandemic shutdown and as the people of good conscious stood up against the oppression of racist police oppression and murder. How much screen time does a parent allow a child? How much screen time does a child need to realise a world which has the means to coexist as a community in shared exchange? The cover image of Screen Time is of a youngster curled into a book, the pages vibratory with text radiating through the skin, blood and bone - an aspect entirely missing from digital media, though the actuality of transparency in our daily lives through streaming etc we can only leads to the awareness of fairness. Screen Time is in reflection to dream time, a state of meditation, hypnagogia and pillow talk.) 30.00
VIDRO - Glöd LP (kink - New album by Vidro after their split LP with Cranko. Vidro is a pissed HC / Punk band from Stockholm / Portland / Belo Horizonte including members from Kurt I Kuvös, Diagnosis? Bastard!, Bad Nerve, Trots, and Queer'd Science to name a few.) 15.00
THE WILLIAM LOVEDAY INTENTION - The Baptiser LP (Damaged Goods - Brand new studio album by The William Loveday Intention! As part of an incredibly productive year by one of the world's most productive and cherished artists, Billy Childish releases a new LP by The William Loveday Intention as part of his attempt at "a career in a year". "The Baptiser is titled after John The Baptiser, Christ's teacher who proclaimed that you don't need to make blood sacrifices in the temple of Jerusalem to have communion with God - it's direct one to one in the desert, wearing a camel hair shirt and eating the fruits of the honey locust tree. The LP has many spiritual highs and blaming lows. It should move and sound like the contents of a thinking mind." WILLIAM LOVEDAY 2022) 22.00
THE WILLIAM LOVEDAY INTENTION - The Bearded Lady Also Sells The Candy Floss LP (The fourth in a series of FOUR brand new studio albums by The William Loveday Intention! For the uninitiated, The William Loveday Intention is the latest band put together by Billy Childish. The four album project includes guest appearances by James Taylor (The Prisoners, JTQ), Dave Tattersall (The Wave Pictures) and Huddie Hamper (The Shadracks) amongst others.) 22.00
WILLIE HUTCH - Soul Portrait LP (be with - Willie Hutch signed to Motown in the ‘70s. After the legendary Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson, Motown was all about Willie Hutch. His nine album run for Berry Gordy’s label included two classic blaxploitation soundtracks: Foxy Brown and The Mack. However, before he signed to Motown he recorded two important albums for RCA. Soul Portrait was his debut and was originally released in 1969. Hutch wrote and arranged every track on the album which mixed the gritty, southern soul of Stax with the glittering sound of Detroit.) 26.00
TAPES
CONSTANT COLD WAR - Tape II TAPE (doomtown - Constant Cold War is one man band project from Marian who plays/played in bunch of bands and projects such as Cold Leather, Catholic Guilt, Imposition Man, Gesture, Moron, Skeleton Glove etc.Second tape from Berlin's CCW brings you 6 new grave hits that brings to mind early industrial, experimental post-punk and maybe even some minimal wave? Add some Flipper and Big Black bass vibes with some garage-y lo-fi take on earlier Killing Joke plus some out of space Chrome swagger and maybe that's a spot on? Marian also listened early Earth recordings a lot while recording this one, so maybe you can feel dopey drone influence as well? Not sure if this all makes sense but I do hope there will be more CCW recordings in the future!) 6.00
PARNEPAR - Kako, Molim? TAPE (doomtown - Parnepar are a fairly new band featuring some familiar faces from the local punk scene and this is their demonstration of how to play arty punk heavily inspired by Yugoslavian punk and new wave from the Eighties. If you're familiar with the cult Yugo compilations Artistička Radna Akcija and Paket Aranžman, then you'll realize how Parnepar were heavily influenced by that whole scene, and if not, we should mention Mark E Smith's The Fall as a reference, as well as Wire's early output. Namedropping Šarlo Akrobata and Paraf as proper Yugo influences is also right on track! But what makes Parnepar unique is their chaotic, raw and noisy approach to their sound so expect a bunch of feedback, reverb and noise here! Limited to 100 pro dubbed tapes, either with creme, orange or blue sleeves.) 7.00
POWERPLANT - Stump Soup TAPE (Powerplant return in 2022 with their long awaited second full length, but things are not quite what you may have been expecting. Started in late 2020 during ‘that’ time and finished this January, Stump Soup finds Powerplant taking the instrumental interludes from previous releases to their natural conclusion and have delivered an 20 track, hour long dungeon synth album. Yes, really. Theo Zhykharyev: “A year ago I landed on all these really cool left field DS releases from the mid 2010s, kind of like egg-punk of the crypt world, and it made me smile because I could go there. New timeline just got weirder, but life's a movie and I wouldn't want to have it any other way.” The album is available as a 60 minute cassette, limited to 300 copies.) 10.00
BOOKS / MAGAZINES
KARL BERGER - The Music Mind Experience BOOK (‘The Music Mind Experience’ is all about how we can transform our playing and listening into convincing performances and satisfying meditations every time. No neuroscience here: this book is thoroughly practical, intuitive, chock-full of simple practices and deep, common-sense insights. “A fantastic resource. Karl’s purpose is to reach beyond all intellectual concepts and feel the magic of intuitive playing and listening that we are all born with. Very easy to read and follow“ says the world-renown keyboardist John Medeski. The Italian composer Luciano Troja adds: “Karl’s book is miraculous because it speaks in a simple but profound way to musicians and listeners of any background. It opens worlds“ ‘The Music Mind Experience‘ speaks for all kinds of music and styles, because it addresses the elements common to all the music in the world. The great guitarist John Scofield comments: “Karl’s book reminds me of what I‘ve learned from conversations with the great musicians I‘ve known. These masters spoke the truth about getting in the ‘flow’ and the best mental attitude while playing. I‘ve found that these techniques are universal.“ In this book we emphasize the extraordinary power of our intuitive minds. The masters‘ ‘techniques’ that John Scofield is referring to are all explored here in surprisingly simple practices and exercises. We learn to integrate them into our daily routines of musical practice and listening with astounding results: our satisfaction and confidence is growing strong and steadily.) 24.00
