7“
GEL - Violent Closure 7“ (atomic action - Following on from 2019's self-titled record, Gel has added some serious weight and punch to their style of weirdo-punk-meets-classic-'82-hardcore. Seven songs of mid-paced, nightmare freak stomp, elevated with some good old East Coast-hardcore fury. D-beat influenced hardcore punk going hard as fuck with a focus on feminism - it's a good example of what punk is capable of producing nowadays.) 9.00
LP
ALGIERS - Shook DLP (matador - Algiers returns with Shook, their first new music since 2020’s There Is No Year. Shook features contributions from Rage Against The Machine’s Zack De La Rocha, Boy Harsher’s Jae Matthews, Big Rube, billy woods, Backxwash, and many more. Stacked with guests spanning icons through to future stars, Shook is a lightning rod for an elusive yet universal energy and feeling. A plurality of voices; a spiritual and geographical homecoming; a strategy of communion in a burning world; the story of an end of a relationship; an Atlanta front porch summer party. Ultimately, it's a 17-track set of the most mind-expanding and thrilling music that you are likely to hear anytime soon.) 30.00
BRAINBOMBS - Fucking Mess LP (armageddon - back in stock - Armageddon Shop is proud to announce the long-awaited reissue of the BRAINBOMBS' fifth album Fucking Mess. Originally released in Sweden in 2008 on the Lystring label, it quickly sold through two pressings. After many years out of print, it will be available for the first time domestically in the USA. It has been freshly re-cut for this vinyl release by CARL SAFF Saff Mastering (Fu Manchu, Elder, The Residents, Pallbearer). Ltd to 600 copies on black vinyl with download. Seven tracks of blown out noise rock from the depths of Sweden's sub/urban landscape. Blood soaked lurching riffs taking you through a horrific police report. An audio notebook filled with disturbing and murderous events. A serial killer walking down a dark road listening to a blown out cassette on a dying walkman as he wipes the blood off his hands and into the dirt... In their own words: "Brainbombs Fucking Mess as a testament/funeral. BB found previous releases to be too naive, this time it's for real.“) 25.00
CLEANERS FROM VENUS - Midnight Cleaners LP (captured tracks - Martin Newell, founding Cleaner was, for the time being, alone and spent many long hours in an upstairs room of an old stable block, recording obsessively by himself most of 82'. Lol Elliot, the other Cleaner, came back from time to time to time to help, but in effect, Midnight Cleaners-although not entirely a Newell solo project- was recognizably the last of the original Cleaners From Venus albums. It was also the end of the first chapter of their story. This album, previously only released on cassette, has been completely remastered. Midnight Cleaners hold two of the band's biggest hits, "Only A Shadow" and "Factory Boy." Lol Elliott and Martin Newell, who together formed the legendary lo-fi band CLEANERS FROM VENUS met in the small town of Wivenhoe, southeast England at the turn of 1980s. Newell, a rock singer and part-time kitchen porter who'd left his band the previous summer, and Elliott, a drummer and former hippy traveller, had much in common. They shared a love of sunny 1960s pop music, punk rock and musical comedy. Neither Elliott nor Newell cared much for any kind of musical rule book, both were dismayed by the new right-wing politics which had now taken over their country. Both were in their twenties, had time on their hands and were keen to create something new.) 26.00
DAVID EDREN & H. TAKAHASHI - Flow LP (aguirre - Vinyl edition of 400. comes with printed silver innersleeve. Union of Antwerp synthesist David Edren and Tokyo minimalist Hiroki Takahashi is a fit so natural as to feel preordained. Both traffic in subtle shades of contemplative electronics, marked by patience, space, and poetic restraint. And both have rich histories of curation and collaboration – Edren in the duo Spirit & Form alongside Bent Von Bent, and Takahashi as proprietor of the Kankyō record shop, as well as one fourth of cosmic ambient quartet UNKNOWN ME. Mutual fans of one another’s work, they began sharing stems in the latter half of 2020, which slowly blossomed into a collection of multi-hued compositions inspired by notions of connectivity and impermanence, translated for east and west: Flow | 流れ. Opener “Dusk Decorum | 黄昏 礼節” maps the mood of what’s to come, elegantly pirouetting and percolating through an expanding vista of looming stars and half-light horizons. Takahashi describes Edren’s arrangements as evoking “a strange feel, something we haven't heard much of before.” The sensation is one of “in-betweenness,” a restless current whispering beneath the beauty, like seasons seen in time-lapse footage: flickering but infinite, transience turned permanent. Takahashi’s signature sculpture garden tones... ) 25.00
DEAD MOON - Destination X LP (mississippi - reissue of Dead Moon's 8th album, DESTINATION X. remastered from original tapes by Timothy Stollenwerk with new artwork.) 25.00
DEATH VALLEY GIRLS - Islands in the Sky LP (suicide squeeze - For the better part of a decade, LA’s scrappy rock n’ roll mystics Death Valley Girls have used their music as a means of tapping into a communal cosmic energy. On albums like Glow In The Dark (2016), Darkness Rains (2018), and Under the Spell of Joy (2020) the band challenged the soul-crushing banality of modern society and celebrated “true magical innite potential” through a collage of scorching proto-punk riffs, earworm melodies, far-out lyrics, and lysergic auxiliary instrumentation. But on their latest album Islands in the Sky, Death Valley Girls’ songwriting mastermind Bonnie Bloomgarden uses the band’s anthemic revelries as a guidebook to spiritual healing and a roadmap for future incarnations of the self. And while these may be the loftiest aims of Death Valley Girls to date, the resulting music is also by far their most infectious and celebratory.) 27.00
DOLDREY - Celestial Deconstruction LP (iron lung - “Doldrey make a murky, gnarled, cranked-up form of music that splits the difference between old-school death metal, classic black metal and feral D-beat. They’re one of those bands where lo-fi recording is a true asset, since it makes them sound even more like cave-dwelling berserkers.” -Tom Breihan After a couple season sets worth of gestation, Doldrey has returned with “Celestial Deconstruction”, a proper full length that is decidedly more metal that their previous efforts. Make no mistake, this is still punk as hell but this time with more of a violent stenchcore feel (sans the ridiculous "epic" intros) mixed with Slayer breakdowns and evidence of early Celtic Frost played through the HM-2. Altogether a sound that is pure thrashing nastiness. 350 copies on black and 150 on silver 150gr vinyl housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with poster, lyric insert and download card included. Recorded by Izzad Radzali Shah. Mastered by Will Killingsworth. Art by MFAXII, Serpentschon and Francesco Goats.) 25.00
DROPDEAD - Discography Vol. 1 LP (armaggedon - Completely remixed by Kurt Ballou and mastered at New Alliance. Includes 3 new bonus tracks found on the original reels. Comprised of material recorded between 1991 and 1993, consisting of 42 songs from their self-titled 7", split 7" & 5" with Rupture and Crossed Out, and compilation tracks. Reissued with restored & updated artwork. Originally released in 1994 as an 11” LP on Clearview, and regular LP on Flat Earth in the UK in 1995. Originally a 39 track compilation, three additional tracks have been added to this new version. The complete early studio tracks on one release.) 28.00
DROPDEAD - Demos 1991 LP (armageddon - This LP compiles the first and second demos plus one compilation track all recorded in 1991. Raw primitive versions of songs that the band started with and slowly developed into tracks for the early EPs and first LP, plus a couple relevant covers. Some of these tracks are still played at live shows today in 2020 almost 30 years later. Demo one has 17 songs recorded at WRIU live to reel to reel and has been restored by Kurt Ballou at God City. Demo two has 8 tracks recorded on a home 4 track, original unmixed master cassette given to Chris Corry at the Paincave to restore. Several on this tracks were never before released. The final track is a completely Hellhammer style version of the outro to Kiss' Black Diamond recorded for a local Providence Kiss covers cassette, many years later it was included on a vinyl 8" record that accompanied Rocktober Magazine issue 22. All in all a rough, noisy & raw document from the early days released on vinyl for the first time.) 28.00
DROPDEAD - Dropdead 2020 LP (armageddon - Their long awaited third album, recorded by Kurt Ballou and Zach Weeks at God City and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. Musically, the third Dropdead album is a bit different from previous recordings, style-wise and vocally, with the latter being delivered so the words have an impact more so than just raw screaming. With 23 songs in 24 minutes, the songs themselves vary much more in tempo and style, but ultimately, it's a Dropdead record that makes sense in 2020. Lyrically, this record is relevant to the times we live in, focused on the alarming state of the world, the disturbing rise of right-wing extremism, animal abuse, and the continued social failures of humankind. "These are dark times we find ourselves living in," says the band, "and this is how we vent our frustration and anger in a positive way.“) 28.00
DROPDEAD - 2nd LP (Armageddon - REPRESSED WITH A SHINY SLIVER GLOSSY GATEFOLD SLEEVE - THEIR 2nd ALBUM. 18 RAW TRACKS OF DEMENTED POLITICAL HARDCORE THRASH.) 28.00
DROPDEAD - 1st LP (armaggedon - RE ISSUE WITH FANCY SILVER GLOSS GATEFOLD COVERS - Influenced by the old Japanese, European, and some US hardcore. An extreme mix of fast and mid-paced parts with angry vocals and personal/political lyrics - originally released in 93 on selfless records, rereleased on coalition) 28.00
EIKO ISHIBASHI - Hyakki Yagyō LP (black truffle - Black Truffle is pleased to announce a new solo album by Eiko Ishibashi, her first for the label, following on from the duo recording Ichida alongside bassist Darin Gray. Hyakki Yagyō (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons) was produced for the ‘Japan Supernatural’ exhibition at The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney focusing on ghost stories and folklore from the Edo period onwards. As with The Dream My Bones Dream (Drag City, 2018), the album is a response to troubling questions about Japanese history, and the influence of the past upon the present, but finds Ishibashi shifting further away from her earlier piano-led songwriting and showing a deepening interest in electronics and audio collaging.) 26.00
EIKO ISHIBASHI - For McCoy LP (black truffle - Black Truffle is pleased to announce For McCoy, a new work by Eiko Ishibashi dedicated to the widely loved character of Jack McCoy, portrayed by Sam Waterston in Law & Order. Following on from Hyakki Yagyō (BT064), For McCoy finds Ishibashi further exploring the unique space she has carved out in recent years, bringing together musique concrète techniques, ECM-inspired jazz, lush layers of synths and hints of pop into immersive and affecting structures crafted in her home studio, aided by a group of close collaborators.) 26.00
ENHET FÖR FRI MUSIK- Inom Dig, Inom Mig LP (aguirre - 2023 repress, edition of 500 copies Swedish outsider anti-folk: Folk unit originated in the Swedish underground Enhet för Fri Musik - featuring members of Sewer Election, Ättestupa, Neutral, Makthaverskan, and Blod - continually re-inventing what music is about through free improvisation and lengthy folk meanderings. Embedded in the ever exciting Swedish underground scene Enhet För Fri Musik continues the quest for innovation numerous legendary Swedish bands started during the 70s, Pärson Sound, Trad Gras Och Stenar, Arbete Och Fritid. Taking the ideas of communal music craft and experimentation, on this album the group comes to a unique combination of Jandek-like atonal guitar, organ, tape effects, field recordings, saxophone and Sofie Herner’s amazing loner voice running over it. Adding another inspiring document to the world of open-minded music.) 25.00
EN ATTENDANT ANA - Principia LP (toruble in mind - For fans of Electrelane, Stereolab and Laetitia Sadier, Cate Le Bon, Deerhunter, Yo la Tengo, Black Country New Road. Parisian quintet En Attendant Ana have dazzled since day one. From the muted strains of their 2016 EP “Songs From The Cave”, to the assured 2018 Trouble in Mind debut Lost and Found, to the sparkling refrains of “Juillet”; released just before the world collapsed around us, and which stood as the band’s rebirth and purest statement of their music ambitions - until now. Principia is the band’s third album and is without a doubt their best yet. Bandleader and principal songwriter Margaux Bouchaudon’s voice anchors many of the songs on “Principia”, her crystalline delivery ringing out like a bell as the band swoons and sways beneath her. The songs on Principia were composed from a place of confusion about the state of the world and her place in it, looking outward and inward for answers. They question our perception of others, the one they have of us and finally the one we have of ourselves in a society where the individual is king and the group is forgotten.) 22.00
ESPERANZA - 1998 to 2001 LP (extinction - Esperanza was a short lived band from the Los Angeles/Victorville area who took their influence of 80's D.C. Hardcore and crafted 11 songs that are presented here through their complete studio recordings compiled on one release. Esperanza was important for many reasons, chief among them the ability to identify and delineate serious problems rooted in immediate experiences and connecting them to larger socio-political phenomenon while doing it in a time of relative comfort...when it is harder to be "angry" but even more important to be vigilant...as we all learned with the era that would soon be birthed on September 22, 2001...leading us the present uncertainty of COVID19 and everything thing that connects the two...One of the last hardcore punk bands out of Southern California before the Y2K takeover, whose members went on to become professors, scholars, builders and DJs. Esperanza means "Hope" in Spanish. That really brought it home to me. In a world where darkness looms, we must carry our torch...Extinction Burst is proud to bring you the Esperanza Discography.) 26.00
GROUNDWORK - Today We Will Not Be Invisible Nor Silent LP (king of the monsters - The Arizona desert has produced its fair share of memorable underground music over the years, and one of its early hardcore offerings was the emotional and political charge of Groundwork. Rising from the dust in the first half of the1990's and imploding in only about four years, Groundwork left behind a series of vinyl releases and live performances which still retain an impact on heavy music today. Sharing the stage with bands like Unbroken, Rorschach, Swing Kids, Chokehold, Born Against, Outspoken, Downcast, 4 Walls Falling, Native Nod, and many more, their evolution in sound and approach culminated in their only full-length release in 1994. Today We Will Not Be Invisible Nor Silent is sometimes cited as a defining or classic LP of that era in hardcore, despite the band remaining lesser known than many of its contemporaries. Sharing subtle melodic touches, bone rattling heaviness, and an undercurrent of groove, the record uses quiet passes and wild crescendos to achieve a battering experience that leaves a lasting impression. It is a testament to everything the band stood for, explored, endured, and ultimately was destroyed by; an intense and emotional journey for a group of friends set to the soundtrack of catastrophe. Members went on to play in other notable bands such as 400 Years and Absinthe. This recording was loving restored from the original reels and remixed by Steve Roche at Permanent Hearing Damage. It was then mastered for vinyl and digital by James Plotkin at Plotkinworks. ) 25.00
HOURGLASS - Atomic Clock LP (council - Buffalo, NY's Hourglass plied their raging, discordant trade throughout the mid-'90s. Akin to bands like Groundwork, No Escape, and Grade, their original, short-lived existence had them sharing the stage with the likes of Earth Crisis, Deadguy, and 400 Years. We now find Hourglass with an updated sound that still adheres to the raging underbelly that previously defined them.) 28.00
INDEX FOR WORKING MUSIK - Dragging the Needlework for The Kids at Uphole LP (tough love. For fans of Brian Jonestown Massacre, Velvet Underground, TOY. Unbeknownst to its members, Index For Working Musik was born on an evening in late 2019 amidst the discovery of a collection of faded b&w photocopies that had been marinating on the floor of a urine-alley in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. An assortment of sacred and profane imagery were crumpled amongst an essay on early Christian hermits, entitled Men Possessed by God, the meaning of which was enticingly vague. Received together, they planted the seeds for a new endeavour. Though Max Oscarnold and Nathalia Bruno were already engaged in a creative ping-pong of sorts, the results to this point had only totaled a 30 min long ½ inch tape containing one track and four interludes. They needed a page and they needed ink, and they needed a place and it needed energy. Suddenly by chance or divine intervention, their experimental venture had been given form and direction.) 30.00
INTERNAL ROT - Mental Hygiene LP (iron lung - restock - "Crunchy grind is what comes to mind after listening to this 30 minute monster. I’ll be honest straight up. I’m a fan of selective grind and it so happens I love exactly this kind of grind, so imagine my drooling when I first heard this. Internal Rot embody the purest traits that quality grind contains – violence and freedom. ‘Mental Hygiene’ will grab you by the collar and throw you straight into a pit of wild boars. You will be shredded into pieces in the frenzy that ‘Mental Hygiene’ creates. Musically, it is infused with punk thrash elements and the guitar tone it carries is jagged edged similar to what Insect Warfare, Wormrot, Infanticide and Death Toll 80k employ; and that is saying “it slays”. So fans who have heard these bands before should know what to expect and be ready to lap it up. ) 20.00
JADE DUST - s/t LP (extinction burst - After releasing a demo on Extinction Burst, JADE DUST quickly jumped into the studio with Stan Wright and recorded six songs of revolution summer inspired, unpolished hardcore. This is their debut 12", mastered at Inner Ear Studios by Don Zientara. Sincere, emotional hardcore....the three words that come to mind when describing Jade Dust. When Rudi Jung pulled back the curtain and gave us a peek at the practice tapes, we acted quickly and asked if Extinction Burst could give these songs a home. What they give us is 6 songs with enough substance and humility that there is no need for posturing or cosplay. Everything is emotionally driven, made for us to dissect and apply to our own lives. Jade Dust is everything we fell in love with when we heard RAIN for the first time. The urgency, the commitment, and the need to generate feeling.) 22.00
JADE DUST - Wild Geese LP (Extinction Burst - Jade Dust bring us their second 12" titled "Wild Geese". Picking up where their 6 song ep left off, "Wild Geese" deliver more Revolution Summer inspired hardcore but you can definitely hear a growth in their musical direction. Relying on more vocal melodies and drive, these 8 songs are crafted to hit an emotional nerve. A call for empathy to anyone that will listen. This is a joint venture with Ebullition Records) 22.00
LE DIABLE DEGOUTANT – Fleur De Chagrin LP (aguerrie - Edition of 300 copies Pauline Marx, formerly of the fantastic duo La Fureur de Vouivre, seems like a being from another time and place; namely, an escaped marauder lurking in the forests of a Bruegel painting and integrating the surreal flora and fauna of a Boschian creation into the scenery and lore of deep Brittany. Her invented mythology is loaded with murky rituals and contorted mantras, backed by the surprising sounds and textures of terrains so earthly and so unreal.) 25.00
OREN AMBARCHI - Grapes from the Estate DLP (black truffle - Black Truffle is pleased to make Oren Ambarchi’s Grapes from The Estate available once more on vinyl. Originally released on CD on Touch in 2004 and reissued on Southern Lord as a limited double LP in 2006 during Ambarchi’s tenure as a member of Sunn O))), Grapes from the Estate was a landmark release for Ambarchi, seeing him expand his sonic palette beyond the clipped, bass-heavy electric guitar tones he was known for at that point. Incorporating subtle layers of strings, keyboards, percussion over a bedrock of his signature guitar tones, in retrospect this album can be seen as the beginning of a broadening and evolution in Ambarchi’s work that would lead to his acclaimed, densely layered epics for Editions Mego, Quixotism (2014) and Hubris (2016). Beginning with the shuddering pure tones of opener ‘Corkscrew’, which looks back to previous guitar-only releases such as Suspension (2001), the album’s next two pieces show a progressive broadening of the instrumental palette and a corresponding move away from textural abstraction and sustained tones towards more traditional notions of musicality. This reached its high point on the album’s third piece, the fifteen-minute long ‘Remedios The Beauty’, where guitars, both acoustic and electric, strings, piano, and bells build from a murmur to an interlockinging web of repeating melodic patterns over gently swinging brushed snare and cymbals. The epic closer, ‘Stars Aligned, Webs Spun’, returns us to a space populated only by the electric guitar, but unlike everything Ambarchi had produced up until this point in his career, the piece has a liquid, psychedelic edge that looks forward to the shimmering harmonics of his more recent work. As Brendan Walls wrote at the time of the original release, this is ‘another outpouring of personal, intimate and enduring music from Oren Ambarchi’. Presented in a stunning gatefold sleeve featuring the original artwork and design by Jon Wozencroft. Redesigned by Stephen O’Malley Remastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, Berlin.) 35.00
PESTIGOR - Baptized In Pus LP (Kink - 2023 album from Danish hardcore/metal band Pestigor. All the songs are about Warhammer. Bolt Thrower called, etc.) 15.00
POISON IDEA - Get Loaded And Fuck LP (tko - This infamous collection of songs from Poison Idea EPs released between "War All The Time" and "Feel The Darkness" is finally getting the full TKO reissue treatment it deserves. Now after many months of production delays, TKO is proud to bring back this essential material from one of hardcore punk's all-time legendary bands.) 26.00
SHAME - Food For Worms LP (dead ocean - If Songs of Praise was fuelled by pint-sloshing teenage vitriol, then Drunk Tank Pink delved into a different kind of intensity. Wading into uncharted musical waters, emboldened by their wit and earned cynicism, they created something with the abandon of a band who had nothing to lose. Having forced their way through their second album’s identity crisis, they arrive, finally, at a place of hard-won maturity. Enter: Food for Worms, which Steen declares to be “the Lamborghini of shame records.”It marks a sonic departure from anything they’ve done before, abandoning their post-punk beginnings for more eclectic influences, drawing from the tense atmospherics of Merchandise, the sharp yet uncomplicated lyrics of Lou Reed and the more melodic works of 90s German band, Blumfeld.) 26.00
VERBAL ASSAULT - Exit/On LP (atomic action - This 12" collects two EPs from legendary Rhode Island, melodic hardcore troupe Verbal Assault. They were recorded at Inner Ear Studios by Eli Janney in 1989 and 1991, and remastered for this reissue by Nick Townsend, with artwork by Jason Farrell.) 25.00
WRONG WAR - Once Upon A Weapon LP (council - Formed in late 2019, Wrong War is comprised of former members of Current, Ottawa, Calvary, The Phenoms, and Salvo Beta. Their second full-length, "Once Upon A Weapon," is nine tracks of melodic and political hardcore punk delivered in the prototypical Midwest style. LP includes digital download and an 11" x 17" poster.) 25.00
TAPE
KERKER - Demo TAPE (Kink - 5 song demo by this German dungeon metal punk band. Raw and in your face. Great debut ... ) 7.00
LEDA - Music for a Film TAPE (Kasual Plastik - Repetitive actions, looping in your head forever. Forever? Never. Zero is endless. All flowers and fades. No permanence is ours. We are a wave, that flows to fit. And yet, “Music for a film”, a cassette tape by Swedish artists Sofie Herner aka Leda, inheres the power for perpetuity. A circulating dreamland, built on loop pedals, guitar, and tape manipulation. The Malmö based artist, who is already famed in the global experimental, improvisational, lo-fi noise underworld for her own musical creations as well as being part of bands and projects like Enhet För Fri Musik, Källarbarnen, or Neutral, brings music made for the film “Dödfött“ - an interactive flick by director Niklas Hansson about failed online karate and caducity, screened with a stage art performance at Hypnos Theatre, Malmö, in early autumn 2022. Cinematic sounds for all the Velvets, that never awaken from their first DIY Super 8 dream. Colorful, yet monochrome electrified and acoustic guitar melodies, monotonous, working like drones, getting all stranded in the zones. Six minimal compositions. Full of plenty, always friendly. Heavy, calm, dreamy, shredding, scratching, created for the woman of the world. And all other creatures, that seek features in unbroken repetition. As nobody keeps any of what he has, one day the eternal veil of forgetfulness will warp us all. Until that hour we dance in circles. Making karate moves, sidestepping caducity, reenacting ourselves, endless at the edges, through night and day, craving form that binds. As form is emptiness, emptiness is form itself. Welcome to the world of Leda, riff, 7/4, loop, the young, the middle aged, the old…. .) 13.00
INNUMERABLE FORMS - Despotic Rule TAPE (iron lung - The FORMS are back with two punishing new tracks of angry doom laden death metal. Demonstration versions of songs from the upcoming album. This was meant to be a tour cassette for a European jaunt with FACELESS BURIAL and OSSUARY. The tour is rescheduled for 2022 for now. We shall see if that actually happens or not. Probably not. Fuck off virus. Fuck off life. 300 black shelled tapes with paper sticker labels bearing minimal information sealed into a photocopied J-card and clear/black Norelco box. The old way. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Arthur Rizk. Art by Francesco Goats.) 12.00
