Robert & Norman mailorder@bisaufmesser.com www.bisaufsmesser.com www.adagio830-records.bandcamp.com 7“ CHRIS CUNDY - (You Danced With) Grey Daggers 7“ (stoned to death - First time i've met Chris Cundy was while on tour with Thor and Friends in November 2019. Chris was part of Thor's live band. Shortly after that all tour plans went to hell (due to raising Covid Pandemic). However, on that very tour, right after the first sound check of Thor and Friends, i was truly stunned by Chris Cundy's sound and flow. His appearance (Chris is bass clarinet and saxophone player) added another layer of beauty to Thor and Friends' overall amazing and mesmerizing sound. But I also could not stop wondering how his music sounds when it is just him playing solo and I've immediately reached Chris with the idea of him recording two solo tracks for 7” ep. To my surprise he has taken the offer much more seriously than many other folks do and within a few months i had two amazing tracks from him in my email.) 9.00 PAUL PECHO - Curtis Yellingmouth / Neatly Framed 7“ (Paul Pecho simply shakes two psychedelic Garagerock pearls out of his sleeve. Or are they garagey Psych pearls? No matter, because it counts what is on the turntable and that‘s pretty potential 7 inches! Paul is otherwise singer and guitarist with the gloomy psychedelic BLACK SALVATION (Leipzig/Relapse Records). For his solo debut single, he recorded everything himself and shot chic videos for it. "Neatly Framed" is a quirky 2-minute banger reminiscent of Ty Segall in his "Melted" phase. "Curtis Yellingmouth" slows down the pace a bit and crawls directly into the reward center of the brain as a slightly broken LoFi catchy tune.) 7.00 STEFAN CHRISTENSEN - Arbor 7“ (stoned to death - Stoned to Death is happy to join forces with Stefan Christensen. Stefan is a huge inspiration for our label and our musical trips. He is based in New Haven, Connecticut and if you don't know his work yet, you are up for a nice discovery. His solo outfit is guitar based and very prolific, very idiosyncratic and very surprising. Stefan's discography is a journey through various forms and styles ranging from minimal drones through outsider folk to loud guitar improv and broken free rock anthems. Stefan runs great C/Site Recordings label (csiterecordings.bandcamp.com) and he is also part of loud rock outfit Headroom and guitar improv trio Center. His newest and first release for Stoned to Death is 7” with three songs of hazy loner folk, recorded in 2020 and mastered by John Dieterich. Pressed in edition of 243 copies housed in riso printed cover.) 10.00 LP AKIKO YANO - Ai Ga Nakucha Ne LP (we wankt sounds - Ai Ga Nakucha Ne’ was the sixth studio from Japanese star Akiko Yano, a former collaborator with Yellow Magic Orchestra and whose artistry is sometimes compared to that of Kate Bush. Originally released in 1982 and now reissued via WeWantSounds with a booklet containing an introduction from superfan Mac DeMarco, this gorgeous exploration of electro-pop (produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto and recorded with the musical backing of David Sylvian’s Japan) is available once again.) 30.00 ARIEL KALMA - Osmose LP (black sweat - An amazing Krautrock / nature hybrid masterwork. Warm washes of synthesizer, tribal war drums and drones galore all mixed with the sounds of the rainforest, crickets, frogs, even flies - Osmose was originally released in 1978 and found minimalist composer Ariel Kalma using all manner of keyboards, saxophone, harmonium, delays, effects, even circular breathing, to compose gorgeously minimal, softly spacey slow drifting ambient soundscapes, which were then mixed with the sounds of the rainforest (recorded by Richard Tinti). It's a single LP reissue of the double album of 1978. ) 22.00 ARIEL KALMA - Interfrequence LP (black sweat - After the exploit of Osmose in 1978, Kalma returns into the studio in 1980 with Interfrequence, an ambient space library record. Interfrequence is a continuation of his personal research based on the combination of electronic machines with natural sounds and acoustic instrumentation. The french musician fully wears the robe of master of ceremonies of the synths. However, the path taken is not that symphonic of the minimalist and galactic suites composed by other standard bearers like Richard Pinas and Klaus Schulze. Here, we find 18 short pictures sound (few of them in collaboration of M. Saclays) that emanate a variety of ideas and ethno-cultural influences unparalleled. A distinctive compositional style always returns an crescendo of ecstatic emotions, a reflection on the hidden and secret aspects of the micro and macro cosmos. If in Osmose the sampling sound from the mother Gaia was more explicit, here the Nature is investigated not only in terms of pure tones, but especially in the dynamics of flows and movements dictated by the frequency of moogs and organs and embellished with hyper-space flutes, saxophones and clarinets. Kalma wrote yet another chapter of his personal saga of a new world of sound imagery.) 22.00 BATANG FRISCO - s/t LP (bfr - "A singular document of misunderstood minimal wave A moment of pure DIY genius on this self-titled privately-released one off LP from San Francisco group Batang Frisco, recorded between 85-86 but subsequently left sat in the artist's apartment and only trickling out to those in the know, or who could be bothered to ask over the next three decades. The eight track collection captures the creative underground before the tech boom irreversibly altered the city's landscape, grounded in raw minimal-synth / sequencer tracks but mixed-up with dreamier melancholic moments that break up the stripped-back drum-machine cuts. Racier rhythm tracks 'Power' and '6th And Mission' combine true ear-worm lyrics and infectious drum programming, whilst 'Sewing Machine' is a more sulking, stripped-bare deadly drum-machine + bass guitar duo that has every right to be played in clubs at 4am. Elsewhere, the group show a genuine talent for songwriting, showcasing a more tender and intimate side on 'Julie' or the melancholic, gazing-out-to-sea closer 'Myth'. Front to back, one of my own all time favourites and a potent reminder of the seemingly inexhaustible amount of incredible music that never saw a proper release." All Night Flight records. Remastered from the original analog tapes.) 27.00 BEISPIEL - Muster LP (faitiche - Faitiche proudly presents Beispiel (German for example, also suggests playing together), a joint project by Frank Bretschneider and Jan Jelinek. Muster is their first album. Free electronic music, the result of spontaneous improvisations. “Meaning” is a concept that is overused in connection with music. Muster does not call for the same kind of air quotes. With its title, German for patterns/exemplars, Beispiel’s album frees itself from the ballast of teleological semantics. There is no overarching theme, no preparation, no reading list, no reason for this music. Just two facts: Frank Bretschneider and Jan Jelinek have known each other a long time and appreciate each other’s work; and they share a love of modular synthesizers and of experimental set-ups designed to capture surprise. Bretschneider and Jelinek got together for their first joint session in 2016 and the years that followed brought more such meetings at Jelinek’s studio for open-ended musical dialog – at irregular intervals and with no clear objective.) 25.00 BODEGA - Broken Equipment LP (what’s your rupture - The follow-up to the band's acclaimed debut album, Endless Scroll (2018), and 2019's Shiny New Model EP, Broken Equipment was inspired by a book club. In the early months of 2020, the Brooklyn art-punk incendiaries gathered together with close friends to study the works of a wide range of philosophers. Passionate debates lasting long into the night became a regular occurrence, motivating the band to become as ideologically unified as the weighty tomes they were reading. Broken Equipment is Bodega’s attempt to interrogate the external factors that make them who they are, propelling existential quandaries with tongue-in-cheek humour, highly personal lyrics, and irresistible grooves. ) 25.00 CURRENT 93 - If A City Is Set Upon A Hill LP (Current 93 are the long running project of David Tibet who has collaborated with a wide range of musicians over the years. 'If A City Is Set Upon A Hill' is no different in that includes guest spots from the likes of Alasdair Roberts and Andrew Liles. It continues Tibet's interest in folk and mysticism and follows on from the hugely successful 2018 work 'The Light Is Leaving Us All’.) 34.00 FRANCE - Do Den Haag Church LP (stoned to death - I envy you. I envy you if you have not heard this record yet. Originally recorded live in Den Haag in 2014 and released on cd-r, then it has seen the light of the day and flames of the night on several vinyl reissues. Always gone too soon. And this is one of them. Maybe not the last one. Reason is simple. This recording is simply the cornerstone of european (mid tempo) medieval tribal rock (or kraut rock, if we must). This recording is by french trio called France. They consist of hurdy gurdy player Yann Gourdon, bass player Jérémie Sauvage (of Standard in Fi records) and drummer Mathieu Tilly. Their music has the same approach as the band Faust showed (or were navigated towards) when playing with Tony Conrad in 1972. The story goes, that when Conrad entered the jam space, he gave Faust one instruction only: “Pick a key, keep the same tempo, make no changes and stick with it for an hour or more.” Now look at this band, France. They do the same - but for 12 years already. Started in 2005 in city of Valence, not too far from Lyon or french Alps, surrounded by miles of countryside. Perhaps thats one of the reasons their sound is so rural, very unmodern, using some ways that were set in stone by german and british psychedelic rock, but decided to speak with uncommon language (hurdy gurdy), which might not be understood by many, but i grant if you will try to understand, you will soon be addict and slave to its sound. France is the sound of long forgotten voids from the past. This edition of Do Den Haag Church is released in edition of 550 as a collaboration of Standard in Fi, Mental Groove and Stoned to Death records.) 20.00 FREUNDLICHE KREISEL - s/t LP (stroom - "Emerging from Lower Franconia's hidden reverse, Johannes schebler, known as ambient-poltergeist "Baldruin" and surreal folklorists Christian Schoppik & Katie Rich of "Brannten Schnüre"-fame have puzzled and amazed outernational audiences from the stranger end of the avant/lo-fi spectrum in recent years. The trio is now collectively dreaming as "Freundliche Kreisel", reaching for terra incognita rather than common ground on their most bewildering and accessible outing to date. Arch-pontifices of the electro-acoustic and outsider-art realm, they fill in gaps and invent missing links on the go with somnambulistic ease, confusing the hypersensitive and hyaline timbres of contempo-electronic aesthetics with the naïve charm of Germany's obscure Kassettentäter and mutant-NDW. Think Daniele Mana and Lorenzo Senni digitally rewiring the 4-track recordings of Gareth Williams' Flaming Tunes or sometimes, much scarier, it feels as if it's the other way round. There certainly is an air of whimsical yet post-ironic romanticism to the songs contained here, a madcap, tongue-in-cheek ghost story as filtered through the transcendental senses of a childhood perspective. This attitude is best personified in the disarming innocence of Katie's vocals whose intonation touches on nursery rhymes as much as on dirges and bizarre 'schlager' kitsch. ) 27.00 HAROLD BUDD - I Know This Much Is True (Music From The HBO Series) DLP (clear vinyl) (Soundtrack to the Emmy award-winning HBO TV drama starring Mark Ruffalo. Comprises original score by Harold Budd alongside curated archive selections used in the show. At the time the show originally aired in summer 2020, this was the first new music to be heard from Budd in over 6 years. Tragically it also ended up being some of the last, as he passed away in December at the age of 84. The Guardian wrote "Harold Budd's sublime music was a gateway to a brighter world. It can't be contained with the term 'ambient'." It is a guide to dreamworlds and a haven in tough times. His albums are a gateway to a beyond and an invitation to exist, however briefly, above yourself. Pressed on clear vinyl.) 28.00 HERMETO PASCOAL E GRUPO - Planetário da Gávea DLP (On a balmy Brazilian night in February, 1981, a crowd gathered in Rio de Janeiro's Gávea neighbourhood under the iconic dome of the city's Planetário (Planetarium). Alongside musicians like Helio Delmiro and Milton Nascimento (who were in the audience that night), they were there to see the great "Bruxo" (sorcerer) Hermeto Pascoal live in concert, with his new band formation which would become known simply as "O Grupo" (The Group). Growing up on a farm in Brazil's northeastern state of Alagoas, Hermeto has always been deeply in tune with, and inspired by nature. In his youth he would make his own flutes to play call and response with the birds and frogs. He would build scrap-metal instruments in his blacksmith grandfather's forge, and sit for hours by the lake listening to the sounds of nature. On the Planetário Da Gávea recordings though, Hermeto is cast as the "sorcerer" or the "cosmic emissary" (as the great Brazilian guitarist Guinga once called him), exhibiting an intuitive sense of harmony and melody beyond that of our own world. ) 35.00 KEITH MANSFIELD - Contempo LP (They Say: “New directions in contemporary scoring”. We say: Contempo is one of the best full album listens in the KPM 1000 library. Succinct smoking soul, super tight breaks and string-drenched sleaze composed by the library master, Keith Mansfield. Originally released in 1976 but, like the very best KPM records, wonderfully timeless, Contempo is also no mere LP-length collection of loosely related tracks. This is a rare example of a library record that is a genuinely great listen from start to finish. Many library records are a game of two halves and Contempo is certainly one of those. The first side cooks on a high funk breaks flame whilst the flip is something altogether more tranquil, yet no less groovy. It lays back with dreamier, post-coital grooves. With audio from the original analogue tapes remastered for vinyl and artwork restored from archive scans, this is another one ticked off the list of library records that should be out there for anyone who wants a copy.) 26.00 LAY LAMAS - Goud LP (black sweat - Nicola Giunta and Gioele Valenti (the musicians creating the Lay Llamas dimension) seem to communicate from a different solar system their ecstatic gaze towards an imaginary future world. They rely mainly on a narrative tone of mysterious and spectral dark-psych shades, digging abyss of glacial depht of the self, where light filters through lysergic languors and radiant progressions of luminous dust. Oneiric voices refer to the hybrid chaos of a metropolitan jungle, as a hypnotic and psychic dimension of mind layers. Goud is steeped in numerous literary, mythological, philosophical, ecological and alchemical references. Pulsating and magnetic Farfisa, mesmeric basses and flutes or poisonous pinkfloydian and krautrock patterns forge a clear divinatory aspect of the music. The trip ends in the dark night of the forest, with more acoustic flavours and percussive incense of pure acid-folk. The beautiful cover by Virginia Genta by Jooklo, with her amoebic-cosmic graphics, seems to perfectly seal the sound inspiration of one of the most advanced forges of Italian neo-psychedelia.) 22.00 MICHAEL O'SHEA - Michael O'Shea LP (back in stock - Having sold his instruments to fund a nomadic 1970s lifestyle, eccentric Irish experimentalist Michael O’Shea was forced to create his own handmade answer to the sitars and zelochords he’d become accustomed to playing on his travels around the globe. Using an old door, 17 strings, chopsticks and combining them with phasers, echo units and amplification, the new device was to become his signature sound, mixing Irish folk influences with Asian and North African sounds in a mesmerising and soulful new way that brought him to the attention of the leading improvisers of his day - Alice Coltrane, Ravi Shankar, Don Cherry and more. A logical follow up to AllChival’s recent reissue of Stano's debut LP, Michael O’Shea’s self titled LP was originally released on Wire's Dome Imprint in 1982. The background to the album is as interesting and inspiring as the artist who created it - born in Northern Ireland but raised in the Republic, O’Shea was keen to travel and escape the troubles of his home. ) 26.00 OMAR EL SHARIYI - oriental music LP (we want sounds - Just look at those keyboards! Oriental Music by Omar El Shariyi was originally released in 1976 and has become a much sought after LP over time. This album sees El Shariyi reinterpreting 6 pieces by Egyptian singer and Composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab using those beautiful keyboards - Farfisa and Steelphon S900. He mixes the traditional with the modern, introducing pop and jazz along the way. ) 30.00 OMAR KORSHID - with love LP (we want sounds - Originally released in Lebanon in 1978, Omar Khorshid’s instrumental record ‘With Love’ receives a reissue here. Curated by WeWantSounds’ Arabic music expert Mario Choueiry, the album is a collection of originals and covers that fuse Lebanese pop influences with contemporaneous synth sounds, funk and Khorshid’s distinctive fuzzy guitar style.) 30.00 OMAR KHORSHID - Giant + Guitar LP (we want sounds - Applying a blend of traditional and modern methods to standards and original compositions alike, ‘Giant + Guitar’ from Egyptian guitarist Omar Khorshid was an enormous hit in the Arab world when first released in 1974. It’s now remastered and presented with new liner notes from DJ Ernesto Chahoud.) 30.00 PACINO - Sedm Světů LP (stoned to death - Long overdue sophomore album by Pacino. Sedm Světů (Seven Worlds) is pretty direct follow up to their debut album Půl Litru Země (2017). Five years has passed since then and while arguably Pacino has grown much more confident and better at playing solos, mentaly they still withdraw from 80's independent power rock legacy of Husker Dü or Mission of Burma types. But i guess thats what we call sticking to the roots (sorts of): 9 punchy, straight forward songs, great lyrics and overwhelming energy and volume. The only difference is that these three guys dont look like fresh sunday no more. But compare their debut and this one in terms of raw and intensity, there is no winner. If you love some other Czech classic raw power albums such as Auqila Bert by L'Point, Srdce v kusech zvuky by Gnu, Vas Szuszanne split with John Ball or Choose Your Beast by Thema Elven, than you definitely wont miss with Sedm Světů. Released on vinyl in edition of 500. Self-recorded, mixed and mastered by the band and Tomáš Veliký. Photo on the cover and album artwork by Kateřina Miturová.) 18.00 PARTY DAY - sorted DLP (optic nerve - Reissued for the first time. Double vinyl that includes their critically acclaimed and highly sought after debut album 'Glasshouse' from 1985 and the 1986 follow up 'Simplicity'. Presented in a gatefold sleeve adorned with the artwork from the Glasshouse EP, which features in the Prints & Drawings collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum. With printed inner sleeves and a download code for all 31 tracks on the double CD. Including all tracks from the singles and EP's plus unreleased recordings Pressed on colour vinyl. Disc 1 is Purple. Disc 2 is Gold. Formed in 1981 in Barnsley. Party Day, with their bass led rhythms and sharp powerful drums gigged extensively and released their debut single 'Row The Boat Ashore' in 1983. Their brand of Post-Punk Indie Rock with Gothic overtones soon got the attention of DJ John Peel and sold out almost immediately. The follow up single 'Spider' from 1984 again received extensive airplay from John Peel and received rave reviews from the national music press. "Mouthy pellets of malevolence" NME "Excellent punk junk howl" Sounds.) 35.00 PITVA - s/t LP (static age - What the hell is happening in Prague and Vienna these days? What combination of events transpired to create such a crackling musical euphoroia? It’s near impossible to put a finger on exactly what PITVA sounds like but it lands somewhere between militaristic Eastern Bloc post punk with brittle early black metal production and Einstürzende Neubauten’s approach to “music” with all the appropriate banging and noisewash. Add in a couple Peter Murphy style howls and you’re starting to get there. Maybe… All that is happening and this beast still drives like a hardcore punk record. Makes sense since this is people from Heavy Metal, Rosa Nebel, Privat, Sick Horse, Parasite Dreams, Smuteční Slavnost, Bobby Would etc. Do not sleep on this! ( Jensen Ward / Iron Lung Records )) 16.00 SJUNNE FERGER - Mindgames LP (Occupying its own hinterland within Scandinavia's early 80s electronic/ progressive movements, ‘Mindgames’ navigates a lifetime of musical and personal exploration by Sjunne Ferger. Child jazz drummer prodigy, arts venue operator, music teacher and Aikido practitioner, a be-wildering array of personal & creative influences are distilled into the Örebro native’s only long player. Written around a new wave context, his own jazz fusion roots and at times with an unin-tentionally balearic outcome, Sjunne goes some way to conjuring up a singular sounding al-bum of the time. Narratives of love and loss, calls to self-empowerment and mindfulness, the new age zeal throughout follows Sjunne’s own awakening. Its music caught in meditative reflection one mo-ment before propelling into ecstatic revelation the next, with Sjunne’s collective ‘Exit’ providing electric backing throughout. Propelled by the Drummer’s beat, its hard not to be caught up with Sjunne’s personal vision of a ‘Polymood Music’ Painstakingly transferred and fully remastered from the original tapes, with new liner notes and photography.) 25.00 SPRINGTIME - s/t LP (joyful noise - As the world continues to plunge into a fiery blaze of calamity, the Southern Hemisphere's air warms, its leaves glow green, and the damp earth jolts awake. Springtime is coming to Australia, and it will be ushered in by three sonic shamans who are no strangers to our ears. Gareth Liddiard (Tropical Fuck Storm / The Drones), Jim White (Dirty Three / Xylouris White) and Chris Abrahams (The Necks) are Springtime _ a new endeavor that is as much a tonal experiment as it is a meditation on modern-day absurdity. Springtime's self-titled debut combines free jazz, poignant lyricism crafted alongside renowned Irish poet Ian Duhig -- aka Gareth Liddiard's uncle - and improvisation to craft austere portraits of a world paralyzed by shellshock. It's as monstrously ravishing as it is clumsy in its elegance. Words run into each other with little regard for one another's injuries. There are sounds which come out of nothingness to wallop and brutalize their fellow sounds. The live recording of Will Oldham's "West Palm Beach" is treated with love and respect and would certainly be met with open arms by its author. Across the span of seven tracks, Liddiard incants with wild-eyed fury as White and Abrahams lay down stuttering strings, fizzling electronics, and feathery piano melodies. It is within these raving abstractions that one may find an answer to the enduring question, "What fresh hell will this new season bring?“) 27.00 SYLVIA - sweet stuff LP (we wants ounds - Sylvia Robinson is best known as ‘The Mother Of Hip-Hop’, having founded Sugar Hill Records that released seminal rap singles like ‘Rapper’s Delight’ and ‘The Message’. Her second album, released in 1975, ‘Sweet Stuff’ has been a cult classic among soul fans for decades, housing the gorgeous ‘Sho Nuff Boogie’ and a stylish cover of Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Je T’aime Moi Non Plus’. It’s now reissued with bonus tracks via WeWantSounds.) 30.00 TOWA TEI - LP LP (wrwtfw - The new album from legendary Deee-Lite member Towa Tei, celebrating the 30th year of his career. Featuring Japanese music icons Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Yasuaki Shimizu, fellow METAFIVE colleagues Tomohiko Gondo and Yoshinori Sunahara, HANA, Wataru Iga, Shunji Mori, Hidefumi Ino and more. Mixed by famed engineer Goh Hotoda and mastered by Yoshinori Sunahara. Artwork by painter Tomoo Gokita. Poppy, catchy, dancy, funky, 100% delirious and fresh.) 26.00 TREASURY OF PUPPIES - Mitt Stora Nu LP (discreet - "This is the neat little dog with the dainty walk that looks like a lamb and can fight like a demon". Mitt Stora Nu is the second album from the Gothenburg-based duo Treasury of Puppies, consisting of Charlott Malmenholt and Joakim Karlsson. Nine tracks of life-affirming downer music that were mainly recorded during 2021 and that shows a more varied and refined side compared to their first recordings, though maintaining the TOP-branded poetic playfulness and peculiar approach to sound art/rock n roll. While pieces like 'Jag såg ditt ljus' and 'Rotten apples of love' both capture the very essence of the bands' sound and arguably wouldn't have been completely out of place on the debut album, there's larger-than-life epics like the title track and 'Skriv när du är hemma' brushing off most signs of the past. The strangely addictive 'Dödens soffa' sounds like a bunch of rats in leather jackets and sunglasses playing rockabilly. Treasury of Puppies are in their lyrics this time paraphrasing and recontextualizing everything from Mare Kandre, Edith Södergran to Edgar Allan Poe and Britney Spears, creating a comforting albeit perplexing own little twisted universe. It sort of makes sense that many parts of this album were recorded with old devices made for recording talk rather than music. Ain't nothing but a hound dog! Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi and pressed in an edition of 1000 copies. Comes with insert. Discreet Music 07, 2022.) 27.00 THE WAYNE POWELL OCTET - Plays Hallucination LP (Mo Jazz - *** ULTRA-RARE Spiritual SOUL-JAZZ FROM 1965 AS FEATURED ON PEACE CHANT 4*** Los Angeles, not unlike other great cities such as Detroit, New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia, has given birth to and nurtured many great musicians. One of those young, versatile musicians Los Angeles has produced was Wayne Powell. In High School he played percussion & tuba in the concert band, later he switched to baritone horn. Shortly after Wayne heard Lionel Hampton play vibraphone at the Paramount Theater in downtown Los Angeles, he purchased his own set of vibes. In 1965, Wayne decided to organize his own group which he called The Wayne Powell Octet. That same year he recorded his debut 33rpm record titled "Plays Hallucination“. "Plays Hallucination" is the one and only album by the Wayne Powell Octet. This is spiritual soul-jazz at its very best! A stunning treasure rarely to be found - unless it's on Mo-Jazz!) 27.00 XIU XIU - Women As Lovers LP (stoned to death - We are proud to present a new edition of Xiu Xiu's cult classic Women as Lovers. Originally released on budget vinyl in 2008, this is its first high quality edition on vinyl ever pressed. Named after Elfriede Jelinek’s seminal novel, this album contains 14 slabs of tortured, avant pop at its best. It includes a lauded cover of the Queen/ David Bowie's single “Under Pressure” featuring Swans leader Michael Gira. The album was recorded by a legendary line up consisting of Caralee McElroy, Ches Smith and Jamie Stewart and features Angela Seo’s first Xiu Xiu credit for lyrics and sound effects. It was mixed and co-produced by the band’s long time friend and collaborator Greg Saunier of Deerhoof. This new edition is released on 180g vinyl in edition of 1000 and features new revisited artwork and liner notes by Jamie Stewart. “Women As Lovers is a joyful affair in many ways, yet Stewart’s demons constantly linger in the background.” Mia Clarke, The Wire, Feb 2008 “This album is frantic and wild, with swatches of noise and Jamie Stewart's voice often quivering on the edge of a panic attack.” Brian Howe, Pitchfork, Jan 2008) 26.00 V0NT - Rovnost LP (stoned to death - After several splits and shorter releases Czech electronic punks V0NT are back with their first full length record. ‘Rovnost’ is a heavy dystopian collage of cold industrial techno beats and mutated samples stolen from obscure punk records.
V0NT members have played in numerous DIY hardcore bands for many years and their roots are clearly translated in the energy of the record, although guitars were replaced by samplers, synths and beaten effect pedals. The whole album is built around themes like guilt, fear, surveillance, faith, obedience, survival and life choices as experienced under extreme conditions. This is where the title comes from. ‘Rovnost’ was a corrective work camp in totalitarian Czechoslovakia where ‘persona non grata’ were sent to be broken by the ruling regime.” The first single “Černější než černá” (Blacker than Black) is about the conflict of faith and power, strength and weakness, ideals and selling out. It is inspired by the stories of christian priests collaborating with the totalitarian regime. Artwork by Nejc Layout and typography by Zoran Pungerčar) 17.00 V/A - Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas DLP (The heaviest, rarest, and best Fuzz-Psych-Funk 45's from Brazil. Complied by Brazilian Vinyl Archaeologist Joel Stones.) 36.00 V/A - J Jazz Volume 2 – Deep Modern Jazz from Japan 1969 – 1983 3xLP (bbe - Following the sell-out success of our landmark compilation, J Jazz: deep modern jazz from Japan 1969-1984, BBE Records is thrilled to present another exploration into the very finest Japanese modern jazz. J Jazz 2 builds on the solid foundation of the first compilation and sees co-compilers Tony Higgins and Mike Peden once again pick choice sections from their own record collections. They present a deep dive into an intoxicating and beguiling range of styles: from cinematic roaring big-band (Little G by Nobuo Hara) and sparse minimal acoustic funk (Teru Teru Bozo by Teru Sakomoto), to deep spiritual modal epics (Dragon Dance by Makoto Terashita and Harold Land) and funk fusion (Mother of the Future by Electro Keyboard Orchestra). J Jazz 2 delivers more astonishing high quality jazz that will appeal the old school hard-core jazz head as much as those digging the current sounds of the current vibrant jazz explosion in the UK and USA. The specially chosen tracks on J Jazz volume two span across 25 years of Japanese musical progression and invention. From the elegiac stark beauty of Serenade to a Dimly Lit Street and the modal vortex of Daguri, to the fierce post-bop freedom of Bull Trout and the mid-tempo bossa lilt of Vietnam, there is enough here to satisfy the most curious and demanding jazz fan seeking something extra special.) 43.00 YUKIHIRO TAKAHASHI - Saravah! LP (we want sounds - Wewantsounds is delighted to announce the release of Yukihiro Takahashi's debut solo album 'Saravah!'. One of the key Japanese albums of the 70s, it was released in 1978 at a key time when, following his tenure with Sadistic Mika Band, Yukihiro Takahashi had just joined the nascent line up of Yellow Magic Orchestra. A sophisticated mix of Disco Funk, synth Pop, Ambient, French Exotica and Bossa Nova, the album has the stylish feel of a night out clubbing in Paris circa 1978. It is the missing link between the City Pop scene of the late 70s and the synth sound of YMO which was about to revolutionise the world. Newly remastered by renowned engineer Mitsuo Koike, the LP features original artwork with photos by Masayoshi Sukita (David Bowie's Heroes), a 4-page insert and a new Introduction by Benjamin Barouh (Saravah Records).) 30.00 MAGAZINES
