BLONDE REDHEAD - Peel Sessions 7“ (numero - On June 7, 2000 Blonde Redhead stepped into the BBC's Radio 1 Yalding House studios for what would be their sole Peel Session, a setting particularly important as it inspired the namesake of one of this 7" single's two songs. "Where is John?" a nervous producer asked again and again, pacing the room, unable to locate the revered radio host, as a warmed up Blonde Redhead waited patiently.) 13.00

LP

ALESSANDRO CORTINI - Nati Infiniti LP (mute - Limited edition first pressing - Silver Mirror Board - Embossed on front / Debossed on back. Following up on 2021’s Scuro Chiaro, NATI INFINITI is a 40-minute piece split into five movements, based on an immersive audio installation that Cortini originally created for the Sónar Lisboa festival in 2022 where it was presented across four floors of the Museu de Lisboa’s Moagem. Cortini later debuted the live performance at Berlin’s Atonal festival in 2023, reimagining the work as a unique, evolving dialogue. The record is mixed by Grammy nominated recording engineer, producer, and mixer Marta Salogni (Björk, Depeche Mode, Sampha), and features Cortini’s Strega synth, which he co-designed with music technology company Make Noise.) 30.00

ANNA BUTTERSS - Mighty Vertebrate LP (international anthem - 'Mighty Vertebrate' is the International Anthem leader debut from Adelaide, Australia-born bassist and composer Anna Butterss. Butterss has steadily become a first-call for tour and studio work since moving to Los Angeles (after a stint in Bloomington, Indiana) in 2014. They’ve racked up credits with notables across the indie, jazz, and pop worlds alike – including Makaya McCraven, Phoebe Bridgers, Jason Isbell, Andrew Bird, and Daniel Villarreal – but their most notable contributions to the burgeoning West Coast creative music scene have been as a core member of both Jeff Parker’s ETA IVtet and rising proto-trance supergroup SML, who Pitchfork says “represents the thrilling next phase of a vibrant L.A. community.” Their first solo album, 'Activities', was similarly hailed by Pitchfork as "one of the most exciting, undersung jazz releases of 2022," but the improvise-edit-reconstruct method used on that record couldn’t be further from the foundation of 'Mighty Vertebrate', which began amid the very real challenge of threading solo work into the dense calendrical web of an in-demand collaborator.) 30.00

APHEX TWIN - Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Expanded 30th Anniversary Edition) 4xLP (warp - Expanded 30th anniversary edition includes all songs on all formats for the first time, including the previously vinyl-exclusive track #19 alongside two additional tracks (officially released and on physical formats for the first time). Artwork by Paul Nicholson, the original album and Aphex logo designer. It’s fair to say that a whole generation of ravers grew up with a copy of this album in one of its many forms (there are multiple editions with very slightly different tracklists) but the effect remains the same; a deeply hypnotic sense of déjà entendu, sehnsucht, hiraeth, or whatever you call that feeling when you go to feed a squirrel and it runs away.) 63.00

ARASHI WITH TAKEO MORIYAMA - Tokuzo DLP (trost -The trio of Japanese Saxophone legend Akira Sakata with the scandinavian rhythm section presents already his fifth album! While the trio was on a Japan tour in 2019, Sakata arranged for a handful of special collaborations, with some of Japan's most important artistic figures. Featuring the avantgarde dancer Min Tanaka, the pianist Yuji Takahashi and a heavyweight veteran of Japanese experimental music - drummer Takeo Moriyama. Moriyama was playing with Sakata in the Yosuke Yamashita Trio and is his unflinching sparring partner on the explosive 2022 Trost duo recording Mitochondria.) 36.00

BLACK BIRCH - Black Birch DLP (Candy Marbled Vinyl. The Swedish atmospheric black metal duo BLACK BIRCH, consisting of Gina Wiklund (vocals, guitar & bass) and Ulf Blomberg (drums, guitar, bass & backup vocals), is making waves in the music industry. With influences from crust, post-metal, and black metal, they've created a sound that's both classic and contemporary, fusing atmospheric harmonies with heavy midsections and an intensely passionate vocal attack. Their innovative approach to creating music from their home studio in rural Sweden has already won them international recognition, with regular airplay on BBC1 and Australia's Triple J.) 32.00

DECIMA VICTIMA - Décima Víctima LP (Munster - Decima Victima were a Spanish band that, during their short-lived career between 1981 and 1984, developed a very personal sound reminiscent of Joy Division, The Cure and other British post-punk bands. Despite commercial success evaded them, rarely has any Spanish band achieved such a high degree of quality and coherence in their music and personality. For this edition, the sound of the original tape recordings has been cleaned and improved and the artwork has been slightly modified following the band’s original idea.  ) 28.00

GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR - no title as of 13 february 2024 28.340 dead DLP (constellation - THE PLAIN TRUTH== we drifted through it, arguing. every day a new war crime, every day a flower bloom. we sat down together and wrote it in one room, and then sat down in a different room, recording. NO TITLE= what gestures make sense while tiny bodies fall? what context? what broken melody? and then a tally and a date to mark a point on the line, the negative process, the growing pile. the sun setting above beds of ash while we sat together, arguing. the old world order barely pretended to care. this new century will be crueler still. war is coming. don't give up. pick a side. hang on. love.) 35.00

HIGH VIS - Guieded Tour LP (PRE-ORDER) (dais - SHIPS AROUND MID OCTOBER. Since first forming in 2016, London’s High Vis have steadily polished their palette of progressive hardcore with shades of post-punk, Brit pop, neo-psychedelia, and even Madchester groove, mapping a middle ground between hooks and fury, melodies and mosh pits. Singer Graham Sayle describes their third album 'Guided Tour' as an axis of competing forces: “It’s trying to be a hopeful record, while also being incensed.” Rounded out by drummer Edward 'Ski' Harper, bassist Jack Muncaster, and guitarists Martin MacNamara and Rob Hammaren, the band’s deep roots in the UK and Irish DIY hardcore scenes have kept them grounded but growing, inspired equally by restlessness and righteous anger. As Sayle puts it, "Everyone’s scratching, everyone’s working all the time, and their idea of relaxing is just getting fucked and avoiding reality. This album is an escape from that." ) 28.00

KARATE - Make It Fit LP (PRE-ORDER) (Numero - SHIPS AROUND MID OCTOBER. The first new music from the post-emo trio in two decades. Out of the brain of Geoff Farina spills 10 new tales from their unlikely reunion, tracked with long-time Karate collaborator Andy Hong. Make It Fit crams 35 minutes of Wes Montgomery homage, Fugazi dub plate party rocking, Lynott lyricism, and Clash city crooning into a graceful seventh album.) 28.00

MAUL - In the Jaws of Bereavement LP (20 buck spin - With their anticipated debut full length ‘Seraphic Punishment’ in 2022, Fargo’s Maul dropped one of the most memorable Death Metal earworms of the year. Coupled with the band’s relentless drive for bringing their music to the people live throughout the country Maul’s reputation rapidly grew and a pact with 20 Buck Spin was scrawled in blood. The initial fruit of that union was delivered late in 2023 with the ‘Desecration and Enchantment’ promo tape. And now all roads have led to Maul’s second album, ‘In the Jaws of Bereavement’. While the rotten Death Metal heart at the core of the band is without question, the band have no shame in their game when it comes to embracing a penchant for the heavier side of hardcore with mosh-ready riffs and crowd-killing breaks. ‘In the Jaws of Bereavement’ manages to so skillfully fuse the eerie apparitions and melodic lead work of Death Metal’s greats with the punishing rhythms of Hardcore’s violent power it feels completely organic. It’s all tied together by the unhinged vocal prowess of the human wrecking ball Garrett Alvarado.

MICHEL LEGRAND - La Piscine OST LP + 7“ (wewantsounds - A well-needed reissue one of Michel Legrand's best soundtracks composed for the French Psychological thriller "La Piscine" (The Swiming Pool), released in 1969 and featuring Alain Delon and Romy Schneider. Legrand penned the score straight after "The Thomas Crown Affair" OST and it features the same ultra cool mix of memorable themes, slick jazzy instrumentals and funky, sophisticated pop songs. The full soundtrack was only released in Japan and France and is now extremely rare. It is here augmented with three bonus tracks that have never been released on vinyl, all newly remastered and housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve designed by Eric Adrian Lee with new liner notes by British Journalist Jeremy Allen. As a bonus we’ve also included Legrand’s ultra rare funky 7” soundtrack for “Un Homme Est Mort" from 1972 in its original artwork. ) 32.00

NAILS - Unsilent Death LP (10th Anniversary Version) (southern lord - restock - 10th Anniversary version! "Unsilent Death" consists of 10 unrelenting and unapologetic songs with a sound not unlike the late '80s Earache Records catalog mixed with early power violence. Recorded during the cold winter of 2009 at Kurt Ballou's Godcity Recording Studio. Westbrook said: "It sounds like Entombed covering Napalm Death and Drop Dead.“) 27.00

NAILS - Every Bridge Burning LP (nuclear blast — Transparent Forest Green Vinyl. For the first time in over eight years, the blistering assault on our nervous system that can only be described as the sound of Nails has reemerged. The album artwork, a creation by Jeff Whitehead, serves as a visual prelude to the auditory chaos - a stark representation of the aural brutality that Nails delivers. With no shortage of effort or meticulous song arrangement, the time has arrived to become engulfed in the ferocity of Nails once again as "Every Bridge Burning" unveils a new, but familiar chapter in extreme music) 32.00

NALA SINEPHRO - Endlessness DLP (warp - restock - Endlessness is a deep dive into the cycle of existence. The 45-minute album delicately spans 10 tracks with a continuous arpeggio playing throughout, creating an expansive, mesmerising celebration of life cycles and rebirth. Following Sinephro’s critically acclaimed 2021 debut album Space 1.8, Endlessness further elevates her as a transcendent and multi-dimensional composer, beautifully morphing jazz, orchestral, and electronic music. The album was composed, produced, arranged, and engineered by Sinephro. Performing on the album are Sheila Maurice-Grey, Morgan Simpson, James Mollison, Lyle Barton, Nubya Garcia, Natcyet Wakili, and Dwayne Kilvington, joined by Orchestrate’s 21 string players.) 36.00

PHARMAKON - Maggot Mass LP (sacred bones - “Maggot Mass,” the fifth full-length album by Pharmakon on Sacred Bones Records, marks the project's return after a five-year hiatus. This album signifies a departure from the original rules and structures established by Margaret Chardiet for Pharmakon, evolving into a new form. It retains the project’s experimental roots in power electronics and noise while incorporating industrial and punk influences. The album stems from a profound disgust with humanity’s dysfunctional relationship with the environment and other life forms. It explores the loneliness resulting from this broken bond and challenges us to acknowledge our personal and systemic responsibility. What peace can we make with privilege when the true cost of our comfort is not measured in dollars but in death? How can we reconcile with death when we impose the same hierarchical structures on it that we do in life? Is life worth living in the isolation of this self-imposed species loneliness?) 32.00

THE SMILE - Cutouts LP (xl - The Smile release a new album titled Cutouts, via XL Recordings.  The trio - Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner - debuted several songs from Cutouts during The Smile’s UK tour in March. Cutouts features 10 new-tracks and is produced by Sam Petts-Davies. It’s the band’s third studio album following Wall of Eyes, released in January, and the trio’s 2022 debut album A Light For Attracting Attention. Cutouts was recorded in Oxford and at Abbey Road Studios during the same period of time as Wall Of Eyes. The album features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra and the album art was painted during the recording process by Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke. ) 34.00

THROBBING GRISTLE - Part Two - The Endless Not / TG Now 3xLP BOXSET (Mute - A bit of tasty package for TG diehards and industrial fiends of all stripes, this boxset coughs up a strong reminder of Throbbing Gristle’s sorely missed energies, back when they were still a four-piece, before the death of Peter Christopherson (1955-2010) and the acrimonious departure of Genesis P-Orridge. While Cosey Fanni Tutti and Chris Carter would continue as X-TG in 2010, these recordings are some of Throbbing Gristle’s last group efforts. Notably making their hard-to-find 2004 side ‘TG Now’ available in a paper sleeve (as opposed to the plastic one which has caused owners some issues), along with a mesmerising example of their uniquely refined songwriting abilities in ‘Part Two - The Endless Knot’ - then their first album recording in 25 years - the boxset highlights the strange, ill-fated return by one of the world’s most influential bands, whose original innings between 1976-1981 generated a slew of material that altered the course of experimental music forever.) 65.00

THROBBING GRISTLE - TGCD1 LP (mute - Throbbing Gristle revisits TGCD1, long out of print, now available on vinyl for the first time ever via Mute. This release includes the original sleeve notes by all the members of the band, uncovering the story and ethos behind TG’s independent record label, Industrial Records. Formed in 1975, Throbbing Gristle, aka Chris Carter, Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson (1955-2010), Cosey Fanni Tutti, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (1950- 2020), fully delivered on punk’s failed promise to explore extreme culture as a way of sabotaging systems of control. Their impact on music, culture, and the arts has been immeasurable and still felt today. Originally released on Mute’s imprint, The Grey Area, in 1986, TGCD1 comprises forty-two minutes of studio recordingscaptured at their own Industrial Records Studio on a TEAC 8-Track in 1979. Initially serving as an exclusive piece of unreleased material for TG’s first-ever CD release, the record’ dark and harsh droning sound stands as a significant chapter in their discography, showcasing the band during, arguably, their most formative era. TGCD1 is reissued alongside The Third Mind Movements - both vital additions for dedicated Throbbing Gristle and industrial music fans.) 30.00

THROBBING GRISTLE - D.o.A. The Third And Final Report LP (mute - Transparent Green Vinyl. Throbbing Gristle's second album, remastered - making for markedly superior sound quality to some previous editions - and reissued on Industrial Records. This finds the band at their sleazy (no pun intended) and savage best, reaching an apogee of apoplectic rage on 'We Hate You (Little Girls)', and has to rank as one of the most brilliant British evocations of decay and dysfunction to appear in any art form, ever. For all the P.Orridge-helmed murk, you feel Chris Carter's presence more firmly on this album - as on the the steam-powered, laser-striped synth-wave of 'Dead On Arrival' and especially 'AB/7A', reminiscent of his recently canonized solo set The Space Between. For all its electronic innovations, DoA also captures TG's oft-forgotten ability to rock, as heard on 'I.B.M.', 'Hit By A Rock' and 'Blood On The Floor', which locate and update the essence of the Stooges and Gen’s beloved Velvets. 'Five Knuckle Shuffle' is as disconcertingly, flagellatingly funky as it always was, and in 'Walls Of Sound' you see the roots of Whitehouse and pretty much all P.E. and harsh noise that's come since. Never mind the bollocks, you've got Throbbing Gristle.) 30.00

V/A - Haunted Presence DLP (numero - A pillowcase filled to the brim with delectable Halloween treats from across the Numeroverse, Haunted Presence is a fun size mix of ghoulish garage, skeleton-rattling soul, mutant proto-metal, and spine-chilling ’60s kitsch. With a wingspan of 20 tracks, this double LP is certain to liven up any costume party, séance, or monster mash. Warning: Prolonged exposure may cause ear decay.) 38.00

BOOKS

AUTUMN DEWILDE - Elliott Smith BOOK + CD (Elliott Smith's intensely intimate music and open-hearted, Beatlesque pop songs have left a deep mark on a generation of fans and musicians in the wake of his tragic death in 2003. In Autumn de Wilde's remarkable photographs and conversations with close friends, family, and musicians he inspired, this is the first and only portrait of the beloved and troubled singer/songwriter by those who knew him well. Complementing de Wilde's riveting, personal images are ephemera, handwritten lyrics, and revealing talks with Smith's inner circle, many speaking here for the first time. Also included are a foreword by Beck Hansen and Chris Walla, and a live CD of unreleased solo acoustic performances.) 30.00
