AMERICAN FOOTBALL - Rare Symmetry / Fade Into You 10" (pink vinyl) (polyvinyl - After quietly releasing their self-titled debut album in 1999 while still in college, American Football disbanded after the album’s release to focus on other projects, only to reunite 15 years later to a fanbase that had been consistently growing throughout the underground / emo scene. The album later appeared on Rolling Stone’s “40 Greatest Emo Albums of All Time” list at #6, with Pitchfork giving its deluxe reissue the “Best New Reissue” title, calling it the “most influential album in the genre.” The reunion was followed by 2 more self-titled full-length albums (LP2 and LP3), collaborations with the likes of Paramore’s Hayley Williams, San Holo, boyband and others, as well as numerous sold-out world tours. ) 25.00
LP
ACEPHALIX - Theothanatology LP (20 buck sin - Acephalix wakes from five years in morbid repose with a new offering upon the glistening altar of flesh, a devastatingly tormented study on ‘Theothanatology’, the idea or belief that God is dead. Within this cerebrum shattering inquiry lies, as always, a primal spewing forth of vicious Death Metal malignity and bombraid hardcore dispersions. Across a decade and a half lifespan the evolution of Acephalix into the bludgeoning instrument of discord and dead faith displayed on ’Theothanatology’ has never felt so urgent. The crumbling siege-like mentality of modern life leaves no doubt God has left the building and Acephalix adeptly soundtrack the contradictions, atrocity and inner turmoil of such massive loss and decay. ) 28.00
ADRIE - Blind Spot LP (Adrie's music made us surrender to beauty, emotions, to joy and sadness together. Recorded on analog 8-tracks, "Blind Spot" features 8 lovely crafted songs, entering the artist inner world and spanning between Indie, Rock, Shoegaze, Garage,... Adrie started as a one woman home recording project in 2015. After her debut release “my first adrie album” in 2018 on tortellini records she recorded a new album “blind spot” in collaboration with a drummer. The album was recorded solely on a 8-track tascam tape recorder.) 18.00
ALVVAYS - Blue Rev LP (marbled blue vinyl) US PRESS (polyvinyl - Alvvays never intended to take five years to finish their third album, the nervy joyride that is the compulsively lovable Blue Rev. In fact, the band began writing and cutting its first bits soon after releasing 2017’s Antisocialites, that stunning sophomore record that confirmed the Toronto quintet’s status atop a new generation of winning and whip-smart indie rock. Global lockdowns notwithstanding, circumstances both ordinary and entirely unpredictable stunted those sessions. Alvvays toured more than expected, a surefire interruption for a band that doesn’t write on the road. A watchful thief then broke into singer Molly Rankin’s apartment and swiped a recorder full of demos, one day before a basement flood nearly ruined all the band’s gear. They subsequently lost a rhythm section and, due to border closures, couldn’t rehearse for months with their masterful new one, drummer Sheridan Riley and bassist Abbey Blackwell. At least the five-year wait was worthwhile: Blue Rev doesn’t simply reassert what’s always been great about Alvvays but instead reimagines it. They have, in part and sum, never been better. There are 14 songs on Blue Rev, making it not only the longest Alvvays album but also the most harmonically rich and lyrically provocative. ) 32.00
AMERICAN FOOTBALL - s/t (2016) LP (orange) US PRESS (polyvinyl - US PRESS on 180gram Orange vinyl! In 1999 Polyvinyl, then only 3 years old, released an unassuming debut album by a band called AMERICAN FOOTBALL—led by guitarist / vocalist MIKE KINSELLA (OWEN, CAP'N JAZZ, OWLS, THEIR / THEY'RE / THERE). The band played a dozen shows and then parted ways. Then something remarkable happened: for the next 15 years, the album was discovered over and over, going on to sell more than 100,000 copies and becoming one of the most influential indie albums of all-time. In 2014 and 2015 American Football played their first shows in 15 years, selling out venues the world over. Organically, the band started to write new material, and years of ideas gelled into the a picture-perfect second album—17 years after the first. LP pressed on 180-gram orange vinyl. All formats include a download.) 27.00
BAD BRAINS - Quickness LP (Org - Quickness is the fourth full-length studio album by BAD BRAINS, originally released by Caroline Records in 1989. This reissue marks the fifth release in the remaster campaign, re-launching the Bad Brains Records label imprint. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic BAD BRAINS' recordings. The audio was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering and pressed at Furnace Record Pressing.) 27.00
BAD BRAINS - same LP (Yellow Vinyl - Fifteen loud, raw, and fast classic hardcore punk rock songs (with a few reggae numbers thrown in for good measure) re-issued from the original 1982 cassette-only release. An extremely influential band whose songs have been covered and paid tribute by Ignite, No Doubt, Snapcase, Half Off, Moby, Shai Hulud, etc "The Best punk/hardcore album of all time." -Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys) 27.00
BAD BRAINS - Rock For Light LP (ORG -Rock for Light is the second full-length album by Bad Brains, released in 1983. It was produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars. Presented in the original mix of the album for the first time in decades, as the band originally intended. Most fans will be more familiar with the 1991 reissue, which was remixed by Ocasek and bass player Darryl Jenifer. That version used an altered track order, significantly different mixes and a speed increase of the master which results in a raising of the pitch by one-half step. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains’ recordings. The audio was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering and pressed at Furnace Record Pressing.) 27.00
BATHOUSE - Bathouse LP (happiest place - Did you say Bath-House?", was the initial response when I proudly announced to a Norman-troglodyte about the newest, ear blastingest, front-over-sideways puke-a-thon noise-rocking trio Bathouse from Malmö (Swe). With members and collaborators from the city's most note-worthy musical ventures today - from Mary Anne's Polar Rig, Smiling, War In Youth, Boiling Point or wathever - Denise, Jesper & Philip have together tapped in to music of the past - in their own, new way! "Bathouse" is the band's first full-length album. For fans of : The Hospitals, Brainbombs, Country Teasers, Tyvek or a popped out Harry Pussy!) 27.00
BOTCH - We Are The Romans DLP (sergeant house - Blue & Black Vinyl - Unless you've been living under a rock that's underneath another even bigger rock in a cave in the middle of nowhere, you probably already know what's up with this milestone of an album. Initially released in the year two grand, Botch's final full-length was/is the kind of devastating metallic hardcore explosion that the term "metallic hardcore" could/can only aspire to. In fact, these dudes nailed it so hard that the bands that came afterward had to start calling themselves "metalcore" out of respect.) 36.00
THE CASUAL DOTS - s/t LP (The Casual Dots are a trio formed in Washington, DC in 2002, featuring Christina Billotte (Slant 6, Quixotic, Autoclave) on vocals and guitar, Kathi Wilcox (Bikini Kill, Frumpies) on guitar and backing vocals, and Steve Dore (Snoozers, Deep Lust) on drums. The band’s minimalist off-kilter pop sound is shaped by Billotte and Wilcox’s slashing and interweaving guitar parts, Billotte’s iconic tough-but-sweet vocals, and driven by Dore’s propulsive '60s-style beats. The Casual Dots reissue their self-titled 10-song debut album. Recorded in 2003 at Inner Ear Studios with Don Zientara and Guy Picciotto, the album is at once of its time and timeless. It features standout tracks "Clocks," "Hooded," and "She's The Real Thing," as well as covers of songs by Etta James and LaVern Baker. Originally a CD-only release on Kill Rock Stars and long out-of-print, the album is now being reissued here for the first time on vinyl (white vinyl that is!) on Ixor Stix Records.) 33.00
THE CASUAL DOTS - Sanguine Truth LP (The Casual Dots are a trio formed in Washington, DC in 2002, featuring Christina Billotte (Slant 6, Quixotic, Autoclave) on vocals and guitar, Kathi Wilcox (Bikini Kill, Frumpies) on guitar and backing vocals, and Steve Dore (Snoozers, Deep Lust) on drums. The band’s minimalist off-kilter pop sound is shaped by Billotte and Wilcox’s slashing and interweaving guitar parts, Billotte’s iconic tough-but-sweet vocals, and driven by Dore’s propulsive '60s-style beats. The band is excited to announce the release of Sanguine Truth, their second 10-song full-length album, on Christina Billotte's Ixor Stix Records and produced by Fugazi's Guy Picciotto. These songs were composed and recorded between 2004 and 2019, at Inner Ear Studios with Don Zientara and at Figure 8 Studios in Brooklyn with Eli Crews. Spread out between three of the western world’s largest cities, the band members would regroup periodically to add a song here and there. Although the songs were written over a long span of time about various events and themes over the years, many of the album's songs appear particularly relevant to recent times . For example, the lyrics for “Frequency of Fear” were written and recorded in January of 2016, when there was not more than an inkling of the political insanity that would be realized over the next several years. The instrumental “17 Year-Old Locust” was written in 2004, the year of the same locusts that spawned 2021’s Brood X. Then, “Palindrome” is a reminiscence of a friend who decided to depart this world too soon, a situation that seems to be more prevalent than ever in this day and age. This is on clear vinyl.) 33.00
CHARLOTTE CORNFIELD - Highs In The Minuses LP (polyvinyl - When the world shut down in March 2020, Charlotte Cornfield was in the middle of an artist residency in the Rocky Mountains, hunkered down in a hut with a baby grand piano, sketching ideas for a followup album to her Polaris-Longlisted 2019 LP The Shape of Your Name. In a matter of hours, she found herself back home in Toronto with months of touring cancelled and a wide swath of time ahead of her. She began to write feverishly, mining her memories and dreams and recounting them with vivid detail. When the songs were finished, she headed to Montreal to record with producer/engineer Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Leonard Cohen), drummer Liam O'Neill (Suuns), bassist Alexandra Levy (Ada Lea), and guitarist Sam Gleason (Tim Baker). The group tracked the album in 5 days, mostly live off the floor, seeking to capture the raw emotion of the songs.) 27.00
COIL - Constant Shallowness Leads to Evil DLP (dais - The first-ever official vinyl edition, completely remastered by Josh Bonati. The turn of the millennium ushered in an apex visionary phase for English esoteric duo Coil. Relocating from the city to the coastal quiet of Weston-super-Mare freed them to follow even more fringe obsessions, fully untethered from peer influence. During a single six-month stretch in 2000 they released the devious underworld sequel to Music To Play In The Dark, arcane drone summit Queens Of The Circulating Library, and a malevolent hour-long synthesizer exorcism prophetically titled Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil. This latter work remains one of the group’s most miasmic and mind-expanding creations, on par with Time Machines – a sustained divination of shuddering, psychoactive noise, rippling with the motion sickness of an all-seeing eye. ) 38.00
DE CYLINDERS - Chartbusters 1978-1982 LP (projectile - The first ever vinyl collection that includes all the collectable 7” singles from this amazing Dutch Power Pop / New Wave band. The collection not only compiles all three Dutch only 7” singles released between 1980-1981 but also unreleased studio recordings from the same period. De Cylinders feature a 6-piece line up with cool keyboards and great female vocals giving the songs an extra level of catchiness. The songs are amazing hook filled classic early high energy '80s New Wave.) 25.00
DOMINIQUE DROIN - Wave On LP (First ever reissue of this impossible to find private acid-folk album from France, 1972, related to Long Orme and originally released as a tiny pressing on cult Kiosque d’Orphée label (the French Deroy). Recorded by French musician Dominique Droin (later a Gipsy Kings backing musician!) and some friends/musicians at a basement studio, the album has a charming homemade vibe and melancholic atmosphere with a strong UK folk influence (think Donovan, John Renbourn, Bert Jansch or Nick Drake). Beautiful songs in English with acoustic guitars, flute, cello and even full electric backing on the monster 8-minute psychedelic title track.) 28.00
DUSTER - Together LP (numero - Gather your loved ones, Together is here. Duster’s fourth album is a 13-song exploration of comfortable, interplanetary goth. A sonic vaseline of submerged guitars, solder-burned synths, and over-driven rhythm tracks. “I know people say, ‘Oh Duster music so sad, we've even said it ourselves before,” Clay Parton said. “But it's a lot more like absurdism than nihilism.”) 29.00
ENGÜRDETZ - Sillmjölke LP (happiest place - First time on vinyl pressing of Engürdetz' 1988 release Sillmjölke, originally accompanied by Lille Roger's 'Rock N Roll 85-86'. 500 copies. ’Sillmjölke’ differed from the duo’s previous outputs. The tracks had moved closer into the formula of a ”standard” song formula & the influences from British industrialists such as Whitehouse had become more apparent, along with sections that made your mind venture to the freer & ambient sides of Swell Maps (even if they didn’t necessarily know who Swell Maps were at the time). For the first time ever, this last effort from one of Sweden’s originators of True Swedish Industrial will be widely available on vinyl) 27.00
FORBIDDEN OVERTURE - Turned On! LP (dark entries - Includes a 20 page booklet featuring photos, archival material, a pull-out poster, and interviews with Steve Scott and stars Al Parker and Scott Taylor. The master sleuths at Dark Entries bring us Forbidden Overture, another tantalizing mystery from the hidden depths of sleaze. It all began years ago when Bijou Video’s Jules Zinn introduced the label to the soundtracks of the pornographic films of legendary filmmaker Steve Scott and gay superstar Al Parker. It wasn’t until The Magazine’s Bob Mainardi gifted a cassette copy of the soundtrack to the film TURNED ON—a bathhouse fantasy from 1982—that the wheels started turning. The steamy, hypnotic sounds were credited only to “Forbidden Overture…” but who was that? This question remained unanswered for some time, and countless hours of research, Venn diagramming, and elaborate flow charts all proved fruitless.
It wasn’t until a chance screening of BAD GIRLS DORMITORY, a 1986 women-in-prison movie from gay porn director Joe Gage that happened to reuse some of the same music did the answer become clear: Forbidden Overture was none other than the mighty Man Parrish!) 28.00
HAMMERED HULLS - Careening LP (discord - Hammered Hulls’ debut LP ‘Careening’ may very well be the last record to be recorded and mixed at famed Washington, DC area recording studio Inner Ear. Engineered by studio owner Don Zientara and produced by Ian MacKaye, ‘Careening’ was started right before the pandemic lockdown and completed in summer/fall of 2021.) 23.00
HERBERT BODZIN - Revival II - The Electronic Tapes 1979-1982 LP (artless cuckoo — Herbert Bodzin's "Revival II" features completely unreleased electronic music which was recorded between 1979 and 1982. On the album we can hear the sounds of legendary analogue machines like the ARP 2600, the Korg PS-3300, the Roland System-700 Modular synthesizer, the PPG Waveterm and the PPG Wave 2.2 as well as classic synths like the Roland Jupiter-8, the Polymoog and the Prophet-5. The album additionally features Bernd Hollendiek, as well as Bodzin's two sons, Stephan and Oliver Bodzin. Most of the music they performed was completely synthesizer based while Oliver Bodzin played drums on a few tracks. The songs are a mixture of mostly ambient, deep, psychedelic, yet experimental and futuristic sounds as well as more vibrant recordings that featured the complete band. One of these vibrant tracks is "Lifting Blue" which qualifies as a unique version of space rock. On other tracks like "Voices of the Mind" we hear deep melodies topped with dreamy vocoder voices. "Against the Wall" sounds like it could be taken off of an Italian horror movie soundtrack while the mid-tempo "Orbital" pre-dates the sounds of techno and trance. As a side note, the album may also show early musical influences of Stephan Bodzin, who became world famous in the 1990s as one of the leading techno producers. Without any doubt, "Revival II" should be an exciting lost masterpiece of German electronic (rock) music and a must have for synth music lovers - revived and finally alive!) 20.00
HUM - Inlet DLP (earth analog - Completely unexpected, the first album in 22 years from the gigantically influential, semi-legendary HUM. A genuine Album Of The Year contender, and possibly their finest ever, it mixes their super-heavy / epic sound into elements of drone and shoegaze, with their trademark almost-sighed vocals. Longtime fans will in no way be disappointed; newcomers with a penchant for post-rock, emo, math rock and even doom metal will see what all the fuss has been about!) 36.00
JEFF PARKER - Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy DLP (Aguirre - Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy, x2 LPs of long-form, lyrical, groove-based free improv by acclaimed guitarist & composer Jeff Parker's ETA IVtet. Recorded live at ETA (referencing David Foster Wallace), a bar in LA’s Highland Park neighborhood with just enough space in the back for Parker, drummer Jay Bellerose, bassist Anna Butterss, & alto saxophonist Josh Johnson to convene in extraordinarily depth-full & exploratory music making. Gleaned for the stoniest side-length cuts from 10+ hours of vivid two-track recordings made between 2019 & 2021 by Bryce Gonzales, Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy is a darkly glowing séance of an album, brimming over with the hypnotic, the melodic, & patience & grace in its own beautiful strangeness. Room-tone, electric fields, environment, ceiling echo, live recording, Mondays, Los Angeles. Jeff Parker's first double album & first live album, Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy belongs in the lineage of such canonical live double albums recorded on the West Coast as Lee Morgan’s Live at the Lighthouse, Miles Davis' In Person Friday & Saturday Night at the Blackhawk, San Francisco & Black Beauty, & John Coltrane's Live in Seattle. ) 34.00
JONATHAN SCHERK - Toon! LP (faitiche - As his split album It’s counterpart (faitiche19, 2019) made abundantly clear, Jonathan Scherk is a master of his craft. Toon! immerses us in a highly distinctive world of plunderphonics-sampledelica-variations acousmatiques that’s impossible to classify while feeling familiar nonetheless. Following a strict two-minute format, thirteen complex sound constructions offer a range of experiences – as if the neurosciences had developed an acoustic formula capable of triggering illusions of memory. 13 tracks = 13 déjà-vus) 25.00
JOSE MAURO - A Viagem Das Horas LP (Far Out - For years it was believed that José Mauro was dead. Rumours on blogs and comment sections circulated that the mysterious Brazilian genius had either been killed in a road accident, or been ‘disappeared’ by Brazil’s military junta in the 1970s. But following Far Out’s 2016 reissue of José Mauro’s debut album Obnoxius, the label heard word that José Mauro is in fact alive and well, living a quiet life on the outskirts of Rio. “My body pushed me away from music, health became a stumbling block for me. If I had the strength to carry on with composing, I would have... always focused on achieving a sense of beauty, a sense of wonder.” - José Mauro After years of trying to track him down (with many twists and turns along the way), Far Out Recordings is overjoyed to finally present, with the blessing of the man himself, the long-awaited release of José Mauro’s forgotten masterpiece A Viagem Das Horas, featuring three previously unreleased and unheard tracks from the original studio sessions.

KADAVAR & ELDER - ELDOVAR: A Story of Darkness & Light LP (robot - Trapped in Berlin. Alone among four million isolated people. A harsh, never-ending winter. No gigs in sight. Music as a form of therapy has never been as essential as now - gazing inward when gazing out has become way too disillusioning. After their beguiling “The Isolation Tapes”, Berlin’s most important rock band Kadavar has written its second album during a single pandemic. This time around, however, they weren’t stuck alone in lockdown. They colluded with US prog rock wunderkinder Elder, Berlin immigrants just like Kadavar were a decade ago, and decided to drown in sound together. What surfaced is “A Story of Darkness & Light”, a marvel of musical liberty, a gushing opus between rock, prog and alternative, held together by the two bands’ contrasts. Light and shadow. Alpha and omega. ) 28.00
KHAN JAMAL'S CREATIVE ARTS ENSEMBLE - Drum Dance To The Motherland LP (Aguirre - There’s not another album on the planet that sounds even remotely like vibraphonist Khan Jamal’s eccentric, one-of-a-kind masterpiece, Drum Dance To The Motherland. Thirty years after its release, the album’s tapestry of sound, fearless abstractions, relentless grooves, cool swing, flashes of ecstasy, & pan cultural embrace remain powerful & beyond category. One of only three albums released on the Philadelphia-based Dogtown label, it was barely distributed beyond the city’s limits when it came out in the early ‚70s. Finally available again, a really stunning document of musical exploration, a classic session. In its improbable fusion of free jazz expressionism, black psychedelia, & full-on dub production techniques, Drum Dance remains a bracingly powerful outsider statement fifty years after it was recorded live at the Catacombs Club in Philadelphia, 1972. Comparisons to Sun Ra, King Tubby, Phil Cohran & BYG/Actuel merely hint at the cosmic otherness conjured by The Khan Jamal Creative Arts Ensemble & by sound engineer Mario Falana's real-time enhancements.) 28.00
LEVANDE DÖD - Ingen Framtid LP (happiest place - Levande Död's follow-up album to the highly praised 2019 debut album 'Upp Till Kramp' - properly or not titled 'Ingen Framtid' (eng. 'No Future'). Consistently recorded during the fall of 2020, in contrast to 'Upp Till Kramp' which was recorded over the series of multiple years, sessions & constellations - the record captures a time with it's surroundings in pandemonium, tightly made with the quartet who make out Levande Död today. The result - an album similar to nothing else before or, probably, to come! What you will recognize are the masterfully executed lyrics of E. Lahti, the musical intensity of yester-years - with the maturity which two years & a pandemic greets you.) 27.00
LLOYD MILLER - Orientations DLP (fountain arm -Sourced from Miller’s personal archives of masters and personal recordings that have never been released. Lloyd Miller is an American jazz musician and world music expert who is well known for his research work on Persian music and Afghan music. He can play 100 instruments in 15 jazz, ethnic and world music traditions. His self-released LPs from the 1960s were among the first to combine Middle Eastern and Asian traditional music with American Jazz. His highly sought after records “Oriental Jazz” and “Jazz at the U of U” were recently re-issued by Egon’s Now Again Records and Vinyl Me Please. Back in 2010, Lloyd traveled overseas to record an album for STRUT Records, with The Heliocentrics, and the LP quickly became a classic. After spending years in Iran and abroad, Doc Lloyd Miller has been laying low in Salt Lake City, furthering his academic music and religious studies and is currently collaborating with Adam Michael Terry and Ian Camp for FOUNTAINavm.) 43.00
LLOYD MILLER - At the Ends of the World (with Ian Camp and Adam Michael Terry) LP (Fountain AVM - Doc Lloyd Miller returns with his signature and timeless Spiritual Jazz and World/Cultural Music trademarks, as well as inviting a few contemporary sensibilities contributed by himself and collaborators Ian Camp and producer Adam Michael Terry. Expanding upon Miller's distinctive Academic, Persian and Far-Eastern Jazz Fusion into territories of New Age, Minimalism, Modern Classical, Ambient, and even hints of Psychedelic Folk with the opening song "The Summoning". Proudly extending Lloyd's already unique and massive music pallet that has been documented on his esoteric 60's records and self-released CDs over the decades, we anticipate his fans around the world will be pleased to hear familiar stylings as well as some evolved ideas. Recorded late summer 2019 down in Lloyd Miller's basement, "At the Ends of the World" is a prophetic expression of the social and cerebral atmospheres that Miller personally predicted for the pestilence of 2020. The album reflects a moody dichotomy between the increasingly doomed world and the musician's attempts to heal with divine music and cultural beauty.) 30.00
MASAKO OHTA & MATTHIAS LINDERMAYR - Mmmmh LP (Pianist Masako Ohta and trumpet player Matthias Lindermayr’s music flows in gentle waves, moving with ease between every theme they imagine. Their music is largely improvised, embracing chance and following sound down winding paths. Their debut collaborative album, MMMMH, highlights this loose process through its relaxed pace, surprising turns, and drifting style. The album presents small vignettes that each encapsulate their free-flowing motion and tranquil melodies, drawing from simple ideas to create a fully bloomed, radiant sound. Ohta and Lindermayr are two Munich-based artists who each have worked on a variety of acclaimed projects as soloists and collaborators. Lindermayr is widely praised for his work as a jazz soloist and in his ensemble Fazer, while Ohta is known for her work in classical and contemporary classical music, where she regularly undertakes projects that bridge genres and disciplines. While Ohta has also maintained an improvisatory practice throughout her career, MMMMH represents her first in-studio, improvisation recording project. ) 25.00
MOOR MOTHER - Jazz Codes LP (anti - Called “the poet laureate of the apocalypse” by Pitchfork, Moor Mother is announcing ‘Jazz Codes'. Coming out on July 1, it is her second album for ANTI- and a companion to her celebrated 2021 release ’Black Encyclopedia of the Air‘. ’Jazz Codes’ uses poetry as a starting point, but the collection moves toward more melody, more singing voices, more choruses and more complexity. In its warm, densely layered course through jazz, blues, soul, hip-hop, ’Jazz Codes’ sets the ear blissfully adrift and unhitches the mind from habit. Through her work, Ayewa illuminates the principles of her interdisciplinary collaborative practice Black Quantum Futurism, a theoretical framework for creating counter-chronologies and envisioning Black quantum womanist futures that rupture exclusionary versions of history and future through art, writing, music, and performance. ) 27.00

RUSSIAN CIRCLES - Gnosis LP (Sargent house - Across the span of their previous seven studio albums, Chicago-based instrumental trio Russian Circles traversed a diverse topography of sounds, moods, and approaches with their limited armory of drums, bass, and guitar. It’s difficult to chart an evolution in their sound when their records have always felt like well-curated playlists. It wasn’t uncommon to hear drone-heavy meditations, dazzling prog exercises, knuckle-dragging riff-fests, haunting folk ballads, and tension-baiting noise rock all within the span of one album. Still, it’s difficult to ignore the progression from the pensive and intricate melodies of Enter(2006) to the layered distorted dirges of Blood Year(2019). It’s been a gradual sonic shift owing to the band’s rigorous tour schedule and a predilection towards playing their more authoritative material on stage. But with their latest album, Gnosis, Russian Circles eschew the varied terrain of their past work and bulldoze a path through the most tumultuous and harrowing territory of their sound.) 34.00
SAM SANDERS - Mirror, Mirror DLP (BBE - In association with DJ Amir’s 180 Proof Records, BBE Music continues its exploration of rare gems from the Strata Records catalogue, with previously unreleased Sam Sanders album ‘Mirror Mirror’. A collector’s dream come true, this is musical treasure is so rare that the recordings on this album have never before seen a proper release and even the cover art had to be created from scratch. An almost unbelievable fact, given that it ranks as one of the strongest releases in the already air-tight era of Strata’s Detroit. Although he’s been compared to John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman and Joe Henderson, saxophonist Sam Sanders stands out as one of the most unique phenomena to come from the Motor City. Sanders’ approach to life was so ‘out there’ that one might say his relative obscurity was a personal choice.) 45.00
SIBYLLE BAIER - colour green LP (BACK IN STOCK _ Recorded in the early 70's in her home on a reel to reel recording device, the songs on "Colour Green" are intimate portraits of life's sad and fragile beauty. "Sibylle Baier is a German folk singer and actress whose musical abilities achieved belated recognition with the 2006 release of the album Colour Green, compiled from songs she had recorded in the early 1970s. Having played guitar and piano as a young girl, she was moved to write her first song, "Remember The Day", after taking a road trip with a friend across the Alps to Genoa, via Strasbourg. She appeared in Wim Wenders' 1973 film Alice in the Cities, and her music is also featured in Umarmungen und andere Sachen (1975) and in Wim Wenders' "Palermo Shooting" (2008) . Baier opted not to pursue an acting or singing career, and eventually moved to America where she concentrated on raising a family. The songs that went on to make up her album Colour Green were home reel-to-reel tape recordings Baier had made in Germany between 1970 and 1973. Some thirty years later her son Robby compiled a CD from these recordings to give to family members as presents. SMELLY FEET - Smelly Neu Pollution LP (Minimum table - New Zealand legend Brent Hayward AKA Fats White is probably best known as the vocalist and guitarist in Wellington and Auckland post-punk bands like Shoes This High and Kiwi Animal but when he wasn’t collaborating with others he recorded solo as Smelly Feet. As Smelly Feet, Hayward performed on both street corners and stages supporting such bands as The Clean and even The Fall on their legendary 1982 tour of New Zealand. Hayward self-released three Smelly Feet 7” singles and a handful of cassettes, all around the year 1981. Most were simply given away to friends and fans, while the rest were only available at a few local record stores. The music of Smelly Feet is sardonic, chaotic DIY folk on the surface, but much deeper than that is a legit artistic genius baring his soul using just his voice and an acoustic guitar. Tuning was often an afterthought. It’s the message that counts: prophetic, apocalyptic, cynical, passionate. Brent is one of the few artists who really, actually, TRULY plays like his life depends on it. Smelly Neu Pollution compiles the three self-released 7” singles Brent recorded, pressed and distributed himself in 1981, as well as various tracks hand-selected from the last small archive of Brent’s cassette recordings from the same time period and recording sessions. ) 27.00
SPICE - Viv LP (dais - The second LP by California rock n roll unit SPICE expands their palette of damaged anthems and addiction poetics with a more bristling, visceral sound, distilled from years in the trenches of bands, break-ups, and breakdowns. Singer Ross Farrar explains their chemistry succinctly: “We all got in a room and this is what came out.” Viv is named for a precursor project of bassist Cody Sullivan and violinist Victoria Skudlarek, but also alludes to broader notions of vividness, sonic, visual, and otherwise. Engineered by Jack Shirley and mixed/mastered by Sam Pura in Oakland, the mix achieves that rare balance of every element being elevated but distinct, with voices, strings, and drums each given space to blaze parallel paths. Opener “Recovery” captures SPICE at their stormy, weathered best, booming drums and East Bay riffs skidding out in a rockslide of rapture, regret, and bruised melody (“You sacrifice perfect days to laugh through the night / you have to get out of bed / and it’s hard / and it’s hard / it’s so hard to admit”), peaking in Ian Simpson’s poignant single-note vibrato guitar solo; Farrar agrees: “The guitar says what we cannot.” Other tracks embrace the group’s shredded pop potential (“Any Day Now,” “Dining Out,” “Live Scene”) and their speedway ripper mode (“Threnody”), with detours into oblique instrumentals (“Melody Drive”) and orchestral balladeering (“Ashes In The Birdbath”). ) 27.00
TENUE - TERRITORIOS LP (la ag … Recorded in the summer of 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and “an increasingly authoritarian world where the approach to the people we love has become even more complex”, Territorios (territories in English) is the latest offering from the Galician three-piece Tenue. Released through at least ten labels on various formats, and clocking in at 29 minutes and 29 seconds, this record consists of one single track. Loosely described as neo-crust, punk and screamo, or “emo-crust” as Tenue say themselves, it may seem odd initially to see a project of this length without the words doom or post-rock attached to it. One might assume that maybe what the band have done is present a whole load of songs as one track as a gimmick or to try and stand out. That is not the case. This is one song. There are elements of crust, screamo, hardcore and much more on display here! The most impressive thing about Territorios is, however, how one movement flows into the next, without ever feeling like one song has ended and another has begun despite how different one part is to the next. To have a track continue in this vein for so long without relying on glacial tempos to fill the run time is no mean feat. On the contrary, this record boasts d-beats, frenetic screamo passages, blast beats and two-step hardcore beats underneath fuzzed-out guitars, thick bass and larynx abusing vocals between the sections of inventive and invigorating riffs and hooks they pepper throughout the piece. In its essence, Tenue do allow a little room for respite however, around the halfway mark, they begin stripping back layers of instrumentation before building in intensity and ripping it up all over again. Once you reach the epic climax of the track, it’s hard to believe that the journey started nearly 30 minutes ago, because with so much to keep your attention they manage to keep you guessing where they are headed next and the time really flies by as a result.) 15.00
THOU - A Primer of Holy Words LP (sacred bones - Thou have a bit of a reputation for doing Nirvana covers, even releasing of a full album of them titled Blessings of the Highest Order during the height of quarantine. The infamously ravenous Thou fans were stuck in their rooms, drinking every drop and begging for more and just their luck the band decided to release a full-length compilation of their non-Nirvana covers they recorded and released from 2009-2022. All of the songs on A Primer of Holy Words appeared on limited pressings of various split EPs and benefit compilations. The range of bands being covered is wide: Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains from abandoned tribute projects; Born Against from a small press European compilation; Ginger Quail, an obscure New Orleans punk band from the late 90s; and so on. Regardless of their standing in the civilian world, all of these bands and songs have had a strong imprint on Thou much more so than “sludge” or metal in general or “the swamp” of New Orleans.) 27.00

VILLAGES - Excessive Demand LP (its eleven - VILLAGES has achieved a rare feat. The second LP of the indie/postpunk trio “EXCESSIVE DEMAND” actually succeeds in creating an absolutely catchy, captivating sound from complex components. The vinyl will be released on October 28, 2022 jointly on It’s Eleven Records and PIKE Records.VILLAGES has achieved a rare feat. The second LP of the indie/postpunk trio “EXCESSIVE DEMAND” actually succeeds in creating an absolutely catchy, captivating sound from complex components. Unusual drum grooves drive the eight songs forward, while analog synthesizers and reverberated guitars add layer upon layer – the electronic coldness meets a warm bass sound and often fragile, multi-part vocals. VILLAGES blend diverse influences from synth- pop, indie/art rock and post-rock to create their original, detailed sound that reveals new facets with every listen. This reflects such diverse sources of inspiration as Battles, Trail of Dead, LCD Soundsystem, Deerhunter, Pttrns, Chad VanGaalen and many more.) 16.00
WORM - Bluenothing LP (20 buck spin - After the massive breakthrough of ‘Foreverglade’ in 2021, the Floridian swamp winds stir again as Worm conjures the nocturnal evocation of ‘Bluenothing’. A 4 track 26 minute mini album, ‘Bluenothing’ is an ominous nightside lament demonstrating where the always-evolving fog dwellers have been and the distant domains where they may yet venture. The A side of ‘Bluenothing’ features two tracks from the mythic ‘Foreverglade’ sessions that remained encased in the phantom crypts but are no less masterly than the latter’s ultimate six tracks. Indeed the title track ‘Bluenothing’ was at one time to be the album closer on ‘Foreverglade’ and all the crushing weight and mysterious allure that made that opus a new classic remains on these two tracks. Yet these tracks also have the added dimension of pure necromantic shred via new guitarist Wroth Septentrion (Atramentus, VoidCeremony, Chthe-ilist, Hulder live). The B Side reveals a different yet complimentary stylistic command, one alluded to in past incarnations and now fully actualized - that of the clandestine dimensions of Black Metal’s unfathomable darkness and shrouded mysteries. ‘Invoking the Dragonmoon’ is a ritual gate opening into this obscure galaxy, while ’Shadowside Kingdom’ denotes the arrival to the remote twilight stronghold at the edge of blackness where Phantom Slaughter’s tyrannical celestial necromancy can flourish undisturbed by mortal disquiet and axe wielder Nihilistic Manifesto crafts a thousand spires of darkly cascading melodies. Simply one of the best symphonic Black Metal tracks since the style’s late 90’s apex. And so with ‘Bluenothing’ the ‘Foreverglade’ era of Worm is ceremoniously put to an end and the next chapter in the fanatical saga opens… ) 28.00

JEFF PARKER - Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy DCD (Aguirre - Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy, x2 LPs of long-form, lyrical, groove-based free improv by acclaimed guitarist & composer Jeff Parker's ETA IVtet. Jeff Parker's first double album & first live album, Mondays at The Enfield Tennis Academy belongs in the lineage of such canonical live double albums recorded on the West Coast as Lee Morgan’s Live at the Lighthouse, Miles Davis' In Person Friday & Saturday Night at the Blackhawk, San Francisco & Black Beauty, & John Coltrane's Live in Seattle. ) 25.00
