Robert & Norman mailorder@bisaufmesser.com www.bisaufsmesser.com www.adagio830-records.bandcamp.com 7“ THE KRIMIS - Buzz 7“ (The Krimis is Max Müller’s first solo project (Not Max from Campingsex!). In part, it is a continuation of his former projects, but also goes beyond them with a new more fictional perspective. The songs find themselves somewhere between Indie and Punk–post something maybe, if you are in desperate need for a box to put the music in. The music and lyrics Max writes find their roots in the world of fiction, or at least the fascination with it. They are telling stories without the burden of being anything, but stories accompanied by music. For his first EP Buzz, Max worked together with Steve Frenzel (Trve Peak Studio), continuing their 4 year long collaboration that has already seen many bands and projects, such as Hiding and Knife Eyes.) 7.00 LP 8 BOLD SOULS - Last Option DLP (thrill jockey - warehouse find! - The snows of winter in Chicago often reveal as much as they cover. During the month of January Chicago slows down in what may be called a citywide hibernation. In January of 1985 eight musicians came together to premier new music for a series of Thursday night concerts in downtown Chicago at a performance venue called Chicago Filmmakers. The group featured the unusual instrumentation of two woodwinds, trumpet, trombone, cello, tuba, bass, and trap drums. The concerts, entitled "New Music for 8 Bold Souls", were successful with both critics and musicians. Hence the formation for the group known as 8 Bold Souls, led by Composer, Reedist Edward Wilkerson. In order to have a good understanding of 8 Bold Souls it is important to understand a bit more about the ensemble’s leader. Musically Wilkerson finds inspiration from those he has studied or worked with such as Muhal richard Abrams, Henry Threadgill, LesterRBowie, Fred Anderson, Von Freeman, Johnny Britt, as well as many other fellow members of the AACM. He is equally inspired by those he has listened to such as Duke Ellington, Igor Stravinsky, Ornette Coleman, Coleman Hawkins, Bela Bartok, Jimmy Lunceford, Maurice Ravel and ethnic music such as pygmy music from the Ituri forest. In addition, Wilkerson cites many non-musical inspirations like family, education and readings. Fostered by the AACM, Wilkerson learned to think about music in an encouraging environment that promoted musical education in equal doses with experimentation. 8 Bold Souls' music is both melodic (reminiscent of small groups led by Ellington and Lunceford) and challenging (featuring complex arrangements for innovative instrumentation). The Music of Last Option showcases this duality nicely.) 24.00 ALVA NOTO - HYbr:ID LP (Noton - HYbr:ID Vol. 1 is the first installment of a new series of Alva Noto’s works bringing together heterogeneous composition methods. HYbr:ID Vol. 1 captures the music commissioned for the score of ‘Oval’, the choreographic piece directed by Richard Siegal and performed by the Staatsballett Berlin at the Berlin State Opera in 2019. The process of creating HYbr:ID Vol. 1 was defined by the search for a form to bind astrophysics phenomena, fiction, and performance movements. Its narrative is inspired by cinematic visual techniques and static images portraying scientific events which also inspired the titles of the nine compositions. The music possesses a dilated rhythmic base contributing to the images of gravity and spatiality. At points static is used with an ornate, delicate intricacy. The album’s sonic spectrum builds with deep sub-bass, gloomy sonics, spacious sound design, and inorganic ambiance that is gently coerced with artistic finesse. The nine compositions are accompanied by graphic notations informed by the album’s sonic and acoustic codes.) 28.00 ALVA NOTO & RYUICHI SAKAMOTO - Insen (re- master) DLP (noton - 2LP - RE MASTER - Part of the V.I.R.U.S series - Originally released in 2005, 'Insen' is the second collaboration album between Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto and the second installment of V.I.R.U.S.'s five albums series. Remastered in 2021 in collaboration with Calyx Studio, the album's recordings are accompanied by an unreleased composition titled 'Barco.' Initially composed for Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto's 2005 'Insen' tour, the audio material used in this piece is based on the subtle sounds of Barco projectors, whose tonalities served as a ground for the artists' live improvisation. ? In 'Insen', Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto explore the potential for interaction and tension between electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Across eight compositions, the echoes of the cascading piano combine, collide, and dissolve with the tapestry of digital breakages in sheer vibrancy. This relationship lies at the album's core. It subtly continues Vrioon's calm melancholia, becoming a vessel for all the emotions and memories nourished by the listener. As you hear the opening, lonesome notes of 'Aurora,' you realize that the pair have once again conceded an ambition to embed elaborate disciplines into an archetypal sound of soul-searching beauty. Album art designed by Carsten Nicolai Mastering by Bo @ Calyx) 35.00 CALIFONE - Roots & Crowns LP (thrill jockey - Roots & Crowns. “Uniting where you come from – your roots -- with what you strive to be or what you reinvent yourself to become -- crowns,” explains Califone’s Tim Rutili. “At the bottom of these songs are the memories and images you sift through in the process.” Califone’s earliest roots lie in the band Red Red Meat, from whence came Califone’s founding members Tim Rutili and Ben Massarella and its longtime producer Brian Deck. The band’s first release was a self-titled EP on Flydaddy in 1998, followed later by the full-length debut, Roomsound, in 2001 (recently re-issued on Thrill Jockey) and eventually the band’s Thrill Jockey debut, Quicksand/Cradlesnakes in 2003. After touring for the release of Roomsound, Califone had little time off to take in the impact of the music they were creating. In three years, they recorded four albums (two instrumental, two song-based including Heron King Blues) and toured heavily in between with Wilco, Modest Mouse, The Sea and Cake and others. They performed at All Tomorrow’s Parties curated by Sonic Youth and Rutili contributed to Isaac Brock’s Ugly Casanova project and Michael Krassner’s Boxhead Ensemble with Fred Lonberg-Holm and members of Smog and Dirty Three.) 25.00 CRIME OF PASSING - s/t LP (feel it - A stunning combination of style, vision, and execution. Crime of Passing, alongside related projects like The Serfs and The Drin, are at the helm of Cincinnati, Ohio's vibrant post-punk underground. Led by Andie Luman's fervent vocals, Crime of Passing's self-titled debut album is a wondrously textured web of sound. Shades of early 80's post-punk, synth-driven electro pop, and heavier Industrial/Krautrock tones combine across an album both instantly memorable and futuristic. Nine cold tracks for a new dark age.) 23.00 EIKO ISHIBASHI - For McCoy LP (black truffle - BACK IN PRINT - Black Truffle is pleased to announce For McCoy, a new work by Eiko Ishibashi dedicated to the widely loved character of Jack McCoy, portrayed by Sam Waterston in Law & Order. Following on from Hyakki Yagyō (BT064), For McCoy finds Ishibashi further exploring the unique space she has carved out in recent years, bringing together musique concrète techniques, ECM-inspired jazz, lush layers of synths and hints of pop into immersive and affecting structures crafted in her home studio, aided by a group of close collaborators.) 26.00 ELODIE - Enteha LP (a colourful storm - Colourful Storm presents Enteha, the latest piece by Elodie, the longstanding duo of Andrew Chalk and Timo van Luijk. Chalk and van Luijk embody a bold, free-spirited approach to music making whose improvisational processes can be traced to a distinct period of Europe's post-industrial landscape: the former’s Ferial Confine project finding a home on Broken Flag (Ramleh, Kleistwahr) while the latter co-founded Noise-Maker’s Fifes, a Belgian audiovisual project employing unusual homemade instruments. More than two decades of ambitious solo and collaborative work would solidify both Chalk and van Luijk as masterful craftsmen exploring (and exposing) the tension between composition and free play. Their individual lists of collaborators boasts a certain fin-de-siècle faction of the avant-garde: Christoph Heemann, Giancarlo Toniutti, David Jackman and Colin Potter, to name but a few, have recorded with Chalk while van Luijk has also welcomed Heemann as well as a guard of other artists including Raymond Dijkstra, Kris Vanderstraeten and Frederik Croene. ) 24.00 FASHION PIMPS & THE GLAMAZONS - Jazz 4 Johnny LP (FEEL IT - Fashion Pimps And The Glamazons. A new Cleveland rock group, cut from the same musical DNA that has spawned wonders like Folded Shirt, Cloud Nothings, Donkey Bugs, and countless others. It's fashion. Angular. Punk. Richard Glamazon's tortured, warbly guitar refuses to talk in power chords, stringing notes around high powered synth blasts from Noah A (Profligate). Steve Chainsaw anchors the low end while espousing freaky plans and twisted dreams through hypnotic, layered vocals. Jayson G lays into the drums like only a true Fashion Pimp ©an. ) 23.00 FRED ANDERSON & HAMID DRAKE - From The River To The Ocean DLP (thrill jockey - A Chicago jazz classic gets its first ever LP pressing as part of Thrill Jockey's 30th Anniversary celebrations - The closest of relationships gives its members space to expand, change, develop, and play. Tenor saxophonist Fred Anderson and drummer Hamid Drake have just that kind of partnership, one that has seen them periodically move apart and work extensively on other fronts – Anderson tending to the recent relocation of his major jazz venue the Velvet Lounge; Drake in a dizzying array of globetrotting ensembles – but always returning to the fold, digging in together and checking out what’s been learned in the interim. Over the course of some three decades, master saxophonist and prodigy percussionist have continued to reconfirm their commitment to their joint project. Following up on their acclaimed Thrill Jockey 2004 CD Back Together Again, Drake and Anderson set out to show just how much they’d grown, how beautifully their work together has evolved. Drafting an all-star band consisting of fellow-Chicagoans, the twosome entered John McEntire’s Soma Studios and proceeded to record their most relaxed, perfectly balanced date yet. In a discography that has gone from a handful of rare LPs fifteen years ago to a staggering number of discs on various labels today, it may seem hyperbolic to call From the River to the Ocean Fred Anderson’s greatest album yet, but the empathy and cohesiveness of the ensemble, coupled with the saxophonist’s brilliant, searching improvisations, makes it a ringer.) 32.00 FRED MOTEN / BRANDON LOPEZ / GERALD CLEAVER - Moten / López / Cleaver LP (reading group - Reading Group is thrilled to introduce the debut LP from a new improvising group of three singular artists: Fred Moten (voice), Brandon López (double bass), and Gerald Cleaver (drums). López and Cleaver have been improvising together as a duo for a number of years, over which they’ve developed a secret, unspoken language of organically growing repetitive figures in a wide range of sonic palettes. López and Cleaver have long been recognized as some of the most vital voices in contemporary experimental improvised music, each with dozens of recordings and frequent performances in New York and abroad. They are joined here by Fred Moten, the inimitable poet, theorist, critic, and 2020 MacArthur Fellow. Moten’s presence, voicing poetry in an improvisatory syncopation with the instrumentalists, raises the music to third plane, putting the record in a broader collection of legendary spoken-word jazz records from Gil Scott-Heron and Amiri Baraka to the contemporary energies of Moor Mother and Irreversible Entanglements. ) 28.00 GREEN / BLUE - Paper Thin LP (feel it - The dark and dreamy halftoned realism of Green/Blue comes into near-perfect focus across 'Paper Thin'. Ever the prolific recording duo, Jim Blaha and Annie Sparrows are back with their third album in as many years, following previous releases on HoZac and Slovenly. Their Minneapolis basement studio has yet again translated to tape what many in the post-punk realm often fail to realize - a certain icy-cool confidence. Chilling vocal harmonies resonate atop melodic guitar leads and a razor-sharp rhythm section as the album stretches to just under twenty-five minutes. Green/Blue evoke a certain somber and honest set of sonics, distilling the now and pondering the future as these ten tracks spin vibrantly at 45 RPM.) 23.00 JAMES KRIVCHENIA - Blood Karaoke LP (reading group - James Krivchenia (b. Minnesota, 1988) is a many-armed sculptor of music. Known primarily for his roles in Big Thief (as drummer and producer), Mega Bog (as longtime engineer, co-producer and percussionist) and his various other groups and session work (ranging from the experimental improvisation of Causings to the likes of Taylor Swift) Krivchenia has been quietly building strange musical worlds in parallel with his own experimental records. Krivchenia’s solo works are tableaus of his conceptual particle colliders: interlocking idea and process, of determinism and chance, of abstraction and concreteness. ) 26.00 JJULIUS - Vol. 1 LP (mammas jukebox - Knock-out debut solo LP from uber-active Gothenburg artist JJulius - known also (together with Elin / Loopsel) for roles in the post-punk duo Monokultur and the splashier, more rock driven Skiftande Enheter outfit. Simply titled Vol 1, Julius serves a suite of atmospheric, enigmatic pop ballads across a broad emotional spectrum. There’re obvious traces back to his work as Monokultur - the moody, low-slung bass lines and prickly atmospherics of ‘Hårda Tag’ recalling moments on the seminal 2019 Forlag For Fri Musik debut, whereas elsewhere we’re shown a more whimsical, love-struck side with the shimmering, head-in-the-clouds guitar licks of ‘Längst Bak I Kön Till Frälsningen’ or the spindly, skeletal string picks of ‘Omöjligt/Möjligt’ inviting comparison’s to Wythenshawe’s finest Vini Reilly. The song writing feels assured and inventive, referencing noisier influences with the ever-present layer of contact mic rustle in the background, whilst the stripped electronic pulses and shy melodies readjust it for a folkier / poppier, stuck-in-yr-head-for-weeks result. Another stone killer from the unstoppable Gothenburg locomotive…) 27.00 JJULIUS - Vol. 2 LP (mamas jukebox / dfa - "I'll never forget the first time I heard JJulius. I was stumbling down the waxed marble steps of the Sunset Marquis, sipping in vain from my empty flask, when David Bowie pulled up in a tangerine Hummer H3 he "borrowed" from one of those Kraftwerk guys, either Hans or Franz. Michael Stipe was sitting shotgun (this was his pre-fame, big sideburn phase), so I told him to move it or lose it - we had plans to pick up Queen Latifah on the way to soundcheck and there was no way the Queen's first impression of me was going to involve playing second fiddle to Mikey. "I get nauseous in the back". he argued, but I still had a few pills in my pocket that my friend Dave gave to me the night before, so I offered them to Stipe as a "macrobiotic dramanine alternative". He quietly declined and shuffled past the center console onto the bench seat in the back. Some years later, Dave started calling himself Oderus Urungus and formed the shock-metal group GWAR. ) 27.00 KALI MALONE - The Sacrificial Code DLP (ideal - Kali Malone presents a quietly subversive new album featuring almost two hours of concentrated, creeping organ pieces governed by a strict acoustic and compositional code. It’s a major new work with ultimately profound emotional resonance.‘The Sacrificial Code’ takes a more detailed approach to ideas first sketched out on last year’s ‘Organ Dirges’, which featured canon exercises spontaneously captured without much prior technical planning. By contrast, the recording of ‘The Sacrificial Code’ involved the more careful micing up of several organs in such a way as to eliminate acoustic impurities as far as possible - essentially removing the large hall reverb so inextricably linked to the instrument. The pieces were then performed free of gestural adornments and without expressive impulse - an approach that flows against the grain of the prevailing musical hegemony, where sound is so often manipulated, and composition often steeped in self indulgence. The question posed; can this strict methodology still speak to the listener in meaningful terms?) 38.00 KEVIN HEWICK AND THE SOUND - This Cover Keeps Reality Unreal LP (Lantern Rec. presents a reissue of Kevin Hewick and the Sound's This Cover Keeps Reality Unreal, originally released in 1983. Kevin Hewick -- a Leicester born -- is still considered a truly representative force of the post-punk counterculture. His first "proper" gig was on a bill with Joy Division, A Certain Ratio, and Section 25. He released a couple of records on Factory in the early '80s, then moving to Cherry Red in 1982. His collaboration with The Sound stands truly as his own masterwork. Recorded and mixed at Elephant Studios, Wapping, London on November 3rd, 4th, and 5th 1983, is still a refreshing example of their combined effort. The four tracks move along a sort of outsider folkish post punk being perhaps his most accessible work ever. Fully remastered and licensed. Clear vinyl.) 27.00 MARAUDEUR - Puissance 4 LP (feel it - First of all: this record is so much. and it sounds so good! But - how does it feel ? To me, these nine unique songs of „Puissance 4“ - the second album by Maraudeur - are completely Sci-Fi. They are opening up the view into various worlds inbetween seconds. Images I feel familiar with are transforming themselves to unexpected landscapes, driven by the strong integrity of bass, synth, and drums. If this would be a shuttle it would go back and forth on sonic streets guided by the vocals of the different songs, intersecting with crowded supermarkets, car traffic, wide beach and beaming portals to parallel universes. At the end of the album the synthesizer sounds like a high wind, blowing from a strange outside world. It is staring at me after I „finally left the house“. I wanna see what´s hidden in the dark, and I am following the vocals through different layers of night. ) 24.00 ROLAND BOCQUET - Paradia LP (wwrwfww - WRWTFWW Records is super happy to announce the official reissue of Roland Bocquet’s highly sought after solo album, Paradia. Sourced from the original masters, this very comforting and warm gem is available on limited edition vinyl housed in heavy 350gsm sleeve with holographic sticker, as well as on digipack CD. Originally released in 1977 on the legendary Cobra label, Paradia is the first solo album by Roland Bocquet, keyboard player for cult French band Catharsis. The (mostly) instrumental album is a wonderful oddball adventure blending cosy ambient, euro-folk, synth escapades, Latin fusion with a French touch, gentle bossa, a tiny bit of minimalist chanson, and a heavy dose of je-ne sais-quoi. The result is soothing, mysterious in the sweetest ways, and fully atmospheric: a must have for fans of Pascal Comelade, Mort Garson, Dominique Guiot, ZNR, Vladimir Cosma, movie soundtracks, library music, and unclassifiable gems. It’s hard to describe but lovely to experience! Paradia, Paradia, Paradiaaaaaaaa…) 26.00 ROMERO - Turn It On! LP (feel it - The debut full length from Melbourne, Australia’s ROMERO is a burst of hard hitting, punk-laced powerpop. Well informed by the classics and every bit as relevant-as-it-is timeless, "Turn It On!" is a memorable party. An album that captures the vitality of a young band hitting their stride and doing it on their own terms without a single note of indecision. Much in the way that The Undertones, Blondie, and even Big Star debuted with a sense of purpose, ROMERO invite us to eleven tracks of soulful powerpop gold. ) 23.00 SAD LOVERS & GIANTS - The Mirror Test LP (One of the most respected British bands in the mid 80's post punk era. Sad Lovers and Giants played highly atmospheric music made of melancholic melodies and epic guitar riffs. An overtly romantic attitude that slowly developed towards an even more open (pop) sound approach. Originally released in 1987 on Midnight records "Mirror Test", the band's third studio effort, arrived as the fruit of an updated line up and a clear step in such direction. A very harmonious collection of songs, some of which are still recognized among the best in the band's entire catalog.) 24.00 SAD LOVERS & GIANTS - Total Sound LP (Originally recorded for a radio broadcast in Holland in 1983 in front of a very selected audience (10 in all) "Total Sound" represents a great snapshot of Slag live on stage. Here the band, caught just before the split, delivers an outstanding performance based on a fine selection of songs from their first two now classic albums.) 24.00 SIBYLLE BAIER - Colour Green LP (orange twin - Recorded in the early 70's in her home on a reel to reel recording device, the songs on "Colour Green" are intimate portraits of life's sad and fragile beauty. "Sibylle Baier is a German folk singer and actress whose musical abilities achieved belated recognition with the 2006 release of the album Colour Green, compiled from songs she had recorded in the early 1970s. Having played guitar and piano as a young girl, she was moved to write her first song, "Remember The Day", after taking a road trip with a friend across the Alps to Genoa, via Strasbourg. She appeared in Wim Wenders' 1973 film Alice in the Cities, and her music is also featured in Umarmungen und andere Sachen (1975) and in Wim Wenders' "Palermo Shooting" (2008) . Baier opted not to pursue an acting or singing career, and eventually moved to America where she concentrated on raising a family. ) 28.00 SLIM SMITH - My Conversation (1967 - 1973) DLP (One of the best-loved reggae singers of all time. Responsible for many perennial hits that have remained popular with fans since their recording in the late 1960s and early 70s, Slim Smith achieved a lasting influence that trumps the brevity of his vocation and the terribly tragic death that cut everything short. This retrospective includes tracks from Slim Smith & The Uniques period such as Let Me Go Girl, My Conversation, Girl Of My Dreams. These immortal gems and more are collected on the first record of this double-disc set, giving clear indication of the group’s tightness and Smith’s exceptional ability in the lead. The second disc collects plenty of examples of his solo career, beginning with a tasteful version of Keep The Light, Love Power, and This Feeling. The rhythms of many of Slim’s best-loved records have been recycled countless times over in subsequent decades, keeping his spirit very much within our contemporary musical landscape.) 28.00 SPIRITS OF LEO - Equinox DLP (Spirits of Leo is a dreamy post-punk band based in New York City. This album documents Autumn of 2013 to Autumn of 2017, the four most formative years of Spirits of Leo's Ryan Santos Phillips' life thus far. It is a coming of age, a sputtering tail-end of innocence, a continuing search for identity and a sense of belonging.) 36.00 SPREAD JOY - II LP (feel it - Spread Joy may as well be their own musical genre. An immediate flavor and mercurial 'Qu'est-ce que c'est?' begin their second album with the 45 second opener "Ow". Coincidentally, the album spins at 45, just like Spread Joy's self-titled 2021 debut. The Chicago group came out of nowhere, mid-pandemic, with a stunning ten track LP on Feel It. Returning to the warm analog environment at Jamdek Recording Co., Spread Joy have truly honed their craft across these 17 minutes and 17 seconds. This is the kind of punk-forward music that is made to be heard and felt, far from the distorted mirror of the web. A group living free, moving at their own speed, and making music that will be remembered - that's Spread Joy, folks!) 23.00 THE SUBMISSIVES - Wanna Be Your Thing LP (bruit - New one by Montreal singer-songwriter Deb Edison, working once again as The Submissives and willfully unchanged from 2016’s Do You Really Love Me? cassette (Fixture). Six years into the most tumultuous period in global history since WWII – a pandemic, right-wing infiltration, attempts at government overthrow, climate catastrophe looming, a near-complete loss of the moral compass, conspiracies lording over facts natural resources running out – and Deb’s still here, staring a hole through the floor/your head. “No one ever changes,” she coos on “In a Pinch,” and these songs are a textbook example of that sentiment, and her artistic embodiment of psychosexual desire, ready to shatter some lives and walk away looking for the next one.) 21.00 THEOREME - L’appel du Midi à midi pile LP (bruit - Bruit Direct Disques continues down the path of no-fucks-given w/yet another ace from a deck already heaped with bewildering maa. In much the same way as Pasolini’s Theoreme (the film) once fizzled the corneas of the prim, Theoreme (the artist) is here to singe ears on this blistering solo debut. Laying down all the instrumentation ‘n vocals herself, Theoreme posits that spectres of the past continue to resonate in the contemporaneous milieu of the underground. This isn’t some Erik Von Daniken/Chariots Of The Gods bullshit. It’s the #>$&%^*ing truth! Deep inside the angular ingenuity of this chef d’oeuvre are subtle sonic vectors, analogous to Gutura, SIC & the corrosive side of Zickzack. Channeled or not, the adage remains, “Great minds think alike”. I can’t say for sure the French invented propositional logic, but they sure do guzzle it down. And Theoreme’s right there; two-fisted, bellied up & ready for bear. You want a cold war? Well son, here it is. Have at it.) 21.00 TRUE FAITH - As Much Nothing As Possible LP (col. vinyl) (As Much Nothing As Possible is the debut EP by Boston post-punk group, True Faith. After releasing a demo tape as a solo project, Benson recruited friend Moyer to assist in song writing. Together, the duo created this EP that speaks to the bleakness of New England. Inspired by synth-pop, post-punk, and the French coldwave scene, this record now serves as an important step in the band's progression as their sound continues to evolve.) 26.00 VIAGRA BOYS - Welfare Jazz LP + CD (Since their founding in 2015, Swedish post-punk band Viagra Boys have made a name for themselves burning up stages around the world. There's a little Iggy Pop spit and seethe, a David Yow drunken stumble, and a bite of Nick Cave's haunted bark. Add a dash of motorik groove, a pinch of post-punk grime, and a dose of no wave howl. For every gruff and gritty croak in the outfit's catalog, they come back with a pair of bongos, squared-off synths, and a squonky saxophone, with songs that deftly lay waste to society's normalization of toxic masculinity, racism, misogyny, classism, and self-obsession.) 26.00 CD BILL DIXON WITH EXPLODING STAR ORCHESTRA - s/t CD (thrill jockey - WAREHOUSE FIND - Back in September of 2006 both Rob Mazurek and Bill Dixon were performing at the Guelph International Jazz Festival in Ontario, Canada, where the two horn players met for the first time there at a workshop the latter was conducting. Later that day Mazurek saw his long-time hero perform for the first time, but it was an impromptu performance after Dixon's sound check that really left a mark on him. A photographer wanted a shot of Dixon playing his trumpet. "He put horn to lips and played the most sublime, powerful sound I have ever heard from any player ever," says Mazurek. "It was as if the church was going to crack open and a million white birds would fly from his chest, leaving traces of gold and silver in the light-blasted sky. What felt like an eternity was, in fact, one minute of sound. He ended the piece with an ascending flurry, and it was as if his sound had penetrated the granite pillars to be embedded in the rock for all of eternity." Clearly, an impression was made.) 14.00 TAPES
DELIVERY - Sounds Of Delivery: 2021 - 2021 TAPE (Formed in Melbourne lockdown by Rebecca Allan (Gutter Girls, Blonde Revolver) and James Lynch (The Vacant Smiles, Kosmetika), and now rounded out by Lisa Rashleigh (Soursob), Daniel Devlin (Heir Traffic, House Deposit) and Seamus Whelan (The Vacant Smiles), off-kilter home production quirks as opposed to the group’s fully realised live sound, each track powered by a propulsive combo of robotic programmed beats mashed with live drums against a stack of sniping tunnel-vision guitars and buzzing synthesisers. The tape compiles the "Yes We Do" and "Personal Effects" 7" releases.) 12.00 THE KRIMIS - Buzz TAPE (The Krimis is Max Müller’s first solo project (Not Max from Campingsex!). For his first EP Buzz, Max worked together with Steve Frenzel (Trve Peak Studio), continuing their 4 year long collaboration that has already seen many bands and projects, such as Hiding and Knife Eyes.) 7.00 TRAGIC FIGURES - IV TAPE (ala cart - ‘IV’ is a set of four dark oriented songs which present a near pristine epitome of shoegaze, gothic rock and post punk, all acutely produced, instrumentally striking and vocally arresting, very close to the style's motifs, but on no account worn out. Although not much is yet disclosed about the band, ‘IV’ comes with the air of a skillful and experienced act, and leaves a pretty lasting imprint. This is promising to the utmost degree. (Destroy//Exist)) 12.00 THE VIOLENT YOUTH - Tam, Gde Nas Net TAPE (In the summer of 2020, The Violent Youth released their fourth studio album in Tam, Gde Nas Net, a phrase loosely translated in English to “The Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Side.” But in many ways, it was an album of firsts for the band led by Belarusian songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and creative force Arthur Tsymbal.
It was The Violent Youth’s first album with vocals in Tsymbal’s native Russian language; it was the first to crystallize the duo’s darker new wave, synth-pop, and post-punk sound; and it will soon be the first to be released in North America -- further exposing one of the region’s most exciting new bands to Western audiences. Signing to emerging independent record label à La Carte (True Faith, Don’t get Lemon, Love Language), The Violent Youth will re-release Tam, Gde Nas Net on cassette later this year April 2021), with more music on the way. The cassette release should provide a nice introduction to the emotive and captivating music of The Violent Youth, crafted by Tsymbal in his current residence of Augsberg, Germany, with an assist from bandmate and keyboardist Egor Ivakhnenko at his home city of Moscow, Russia.) 11.00 POSTER FRED ANDERSON - RARE MOERS POSTER REPLICA (We are so pleased to be offering a limited edition copy of a rare poster from Fred Anderson's powerful May 25th, 1979 show at the legendary Moers Music Festival. The original hung in Fred Anderson's Velvet lounge and its current whereabouts are unknown. This iconic poster is hand screened in limited quantities by Crosshair on 80 pound black paper using Metallic Silver Ink. The Size is 18 by 24 inches.) 12.00
